How does one 'subscribe' to save a homebrew... well anything.
When viewing Homebrew item details page there is a button "add to collection" click it and you can now use the homebrew for your characters. You can make homebrew yourself for your personal use.
A subscription is only necessary to publish a homebrew and share it with the community as a whole.

Cyber, you need a subscription to save public homebrew to your collection. You do not need a subscription to publish it.
FattieFerret, you will need either a Hero or Master tier subscription. Hover over Marketplace at the top of the page and choose subscriptions, you can continue from there following the dialogues.
I think you would need a specific Modifier Subtype. Right now there is one for "Choose a Blood Hunter skill" that narrows the skill proficiency list, and one for "Choose an Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma skill," but if those don't meet your need you would need a custom Modifier Subtype. Right now we are unable to create those. If there is a way to use the "Choose a skill" option and restrict the choices through another setting option, I have not found it.
Under each option you can add modifiers, so use a modifier to add the skill for that option.

Will there ever be an option to create homebrew base classes?
Homebrew classes are not currently planned.
The reasoning is that it would be complex to implement and would only benefit a portion of users - instead the plan is to implement features that will improve D&D Beyond for almost all users.
I am new to the create a item tool and have a question. I cloned a wand and need to convert the Magic item type to a music instrument. However I that specific dropdown list is greyed out and will not let me make that change. Am including the link to the item that I am working on.

How would you add a option like ‘choose a skill’, but with limited skills, on a race?
- Tsvi
I think you would need a specific Modifier Subtype. Options, and enter each skill as its own option.
But would it register as a skill on the character builder? I don’t see an official looking chooser on the option screen, just text boxes.

Under each option you can add modifiers, so use a modifier to add the skill for that option.

Thanks so much!
Edited: I did that, but cannot now see how to let the builder choose two of the listed options instead of just one.
- Tsvi
They would need to be entered as separate option features, I believe.
I want to make a feat that requires a class feature or a previous feat. Can this be done? (I couldn't find it)

In short - you can't really set much in the way of prerequisites for feats.
This is by design, as 5th edition purposefully moved away from the concept of "feat chaining" that was very prevalent in 3e & 3.5e.

Too bad. Could be fun.

I mean, you can certainly make one and have the listed pre-requisite. It just won't be mechanically implemented/forced by the DDB interface.

It is extremely unlikely; Badeye has said that it is not on the current roadmap.

Hi Joe,
Musical instrument is not one of the options for an item type. Magical instruments that exist in the game are classed as Wondrous items.
Does this help?
Yes it does. Thanks !!
