Hi, I'm currently trying to make a Ashari/Outlander hybrid background, and want to add Prestidigitation as a spell. I've added the text in the description section, and added it on the Additional Spell List section, but it doesn't show up on the character's spell list when choosing the background. Am I missing a step?
Edit: Reading the whole description would probably have saved me a little, however I see that it just gets added to pre-existing spell lists as a spell to chose from. Is there a way that I can add it to a character without having to make a separate subclass of the race my player has chosen?
Backgrounds cannot add spells to a character, only to the spell list.
You can make a feat and use that to add cantrips, however.

Hello everybody. I am making trying to make a trait that allows for the use of weapons as if the player was large and also blocks the use of light weapons. Is something like this even possible. I am newer to beyond and still trying to figure things out. Thank You.

Will there ever be a time where you can make a magic item weapon without using a base weapon?
So far (to my knowledge) there is no way to change the basic properties such as if its a melee or ranged weapon or the damage dice of the weapon. In my opinion this is quite the inconvenience for really trying to make more customized weapons. For example if i wanted to take say perhaps a rapier but change the damage die to say a d10 its not possible or maybe just make a greatsword have a range of 20 feet for no real reason. I understand that this can kinda just be bypassed by ignoring whats there and maybe simply just writing a new description or maybe creating a spell that functions similarly but to be frank its quite idk unsatisfactory.

This is something that I've encountered as well, and I 100% agree with this.
I am going to be playing a homebrewed variant on one of the Dragonborn from Fizban's, so I decided to try and build this 'new' race using the D&D Beyond Homebrew Tools. I've had to rebuild the race from scratch since the homebrew doesn't seem to allow for automatically copying those variants as a template for your Homebrew. I have most things figured out in my version, but I still have a problem:
I did not start using the PHB Dragonborn as a template, and this is apparently locking a character with this race out of picking up feats with Dragonborn as a prerequisite. I have the race grouped under Dragonborn, but that has not solved the problem. I tried making a quick test race as a variant of the Dragonborn, with just enough features that I could actually use it in the character creator, and that one could take those feats. I am wondering if there is something that I am missing to tag my proper Dragonborn variant as a Dragonborn so that it can take those feats, or if I just have to rebuild it using the "Create a Variant Dragonborn" option

If you own a particular variant or subrace here, you can use it as a template in the homebrew tools. This includes the Gem dragon born, Chromatic Dragonborn, and Metallic Dragonborn from Fizban’s.
As to why your completely from scratch variant of Dragonborn doesn’t work, I’m not certain; but I’m guessing it’s because you didn’t base it on the Dragonborn race.

You might be able to create a feat that allows a character to use a standard weapon but with different stats.
So I am trying to make a druidic version of the staff of the magi. I left fireball and detect magic on the staff. While these spells are still in the description that I wrote up for the item, they don't appear on the list of spells that can be cast from the item. They also don't show up on my spell list. The other spells that I have on the item do show up whether they are on the druid spell list or not. The entries for the spells are the same as the other spells that do show up in the spell list and in my spells tab for my character.

You will need to recreate your homebrew as a “Variant Race” of the Dragonborn.

When viewing a homebrew on D&D Beyond, you have the option to press an up arrow or down arrow. For each up arrow pressed, a homebrew will have another point. For each down arrow pressed, it will have one less point. The rating threshold determines what the lowest point value of homebrew you will see in your search is.

Would you consider a possibility for people to be able to create their own schools of magic?

Scrolled quickly through, but didn't find...
When will we be able to add classes as homebrew please?
so i want to make a spell table like this gentleman right here https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/1553-oath-of-the-dragon-lord under oath spells for easy access
any idea?
Copy & Paste the table, then edit the spells to your pleasure. Be sure to replace the links with tooltips.

Thank you.
Hi,
When creating a subclass, how does one add extra attack as a subclass feature if the base class (Bard) does not normally receive it?
Thanks!
A good book and a cup of tea.
