Summary This PbP campaign is for solo monster combats. Exploring tactics, combos, and strategies.
1. Choose Solo, Duo, or Cohorts 2. Choose Tier 3. Select the encounter 4. Post your choices and roll initiative
Solo Just you playing a single PC and the DM running a single monster. One player gets to use the entire budget.
Duos Two players partner up and take turns during the initiative order to fight a single monster. Each player gets their own Solo Budget.
Cohorts One player runs two characters. The primary character will be the same level as the Tier. The second character you make will be one level lower. Both characters must share the Solo Budget.
"Threefold Reputation" Rule You are allowed to Evade, Move Away, Hide, Avoid Melee, Fly, Out Range, Go Invisible, Make it impossible for the monster to attack you for no more than two sequential rounds in a row. On the third round, you must engage the monster. Engaging means to stop retreating, either to go base-to-base, or to move into range of an attack. If the monster is stunned, paralyzed, or unable to attack, this rule will be suspended. It's just here to speed up the combats and to reward good tactics. Anyone can fly and shoot at maximum range a creature with no ranged attacks, and playing out this scenario has little or no value for analysis.

Recruiting I'm looking for players who aren't shy of the "meat grinder", who don't mind having lots of money, and lots of magic items, who take on Solo monsters, one on one. In this Solos Mini Campaign, each round of play, 1-6 players will all choose their encounter from a carefully catered list of Challenges that are your level or higher. If interested, please send me a private message and I will send you a campaign join link.
Once the trial begins, about how often do you want posts per day? (Since it'll be short I'm expecting I can do a higher post frequency than if this was long-running, but want to double check.)
Looking at a Goliath Life Domain cleric. My thoughts are that of the lv 1 possibilities, cleric has some range with things like Sacred Flame and healing buffs for after each combat. (A lv 1 character against these kind of situations is gonna really need some help.) Plus the Goliath Stone's Endurance may come in clutch.
Are Tasha's allowed? Considering swapping +2 STR for +2 WIS.

Need something to feel more realistic carrying them on)
If I've done the math correct, that's all exactly 500gp. (Was keeping tally as I went along.)
Gear loadout is basic defense and utility. Potions of Heroism to make use of temp HP and combat bonuses. (Two since planning on the short rest.) Initially thought I'd get a potion of healing, but only had 49 gold left after the Yklwa so trying to get creative. Caltrops and rope are for possibility utility to try turning the terrain into something more manageable. And the rest is various ideas ordered in that direction.

Sure, I'm checking notifications on my phone, throughout the day. No promises, but feel free to post multiple times a day or even an hour.

Amazing record keeping. Invite sent, I'll see you on the Campaign Thread.
I'm interested in joining. I'm currently in two RP-heavy campaigns, so recently I've really been feeling the "punch something" itch. This seems like a good way to satisfy it, and maybe even improve my tactics along the way.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

There's a melee type sorcerer that I would like to try solo. Actually, I did DMing him myself but I would love to see if and how the concept works when pitted against someone smart. Will start as a fighter, though, so the concept won't come online until L2.

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.

Sounds like it could be fun. Sending the campaign link.
New character will be Jim Bob the hexblade warlock. Don’t have a story, I just want to try a warlock out. For equipment I’ll buy a breastplate, rapier, shield, and a potion of healing.
The Solos mini-campaign is recruiting, once again.
We have three modes of play,
* Solo means that you fight alone against a single monster * Duo means that you and another player will tag team a single monster * Cohorts means that you create a second character, one level lower, and both share your wealth to tag team a single monster
We have an extensive Magic Shop with pricing and a over-generous budget. We have a new "threefold repetition" rule, restricting certain tactics to two rounds at a time, on the third round you must engage.
Recruitment is only open for a short time, and we will close it after accepting two new players.
One PC. One Monster.

If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
Cool, can't wait to see your character.
