Giant Scorpion initiative roll 17
Okie dokie. I don’t know how far away I am from it but I’ll throw a dart at it and back as far away as possible! Attack: 15 Damage: 7
The Giant Scorpion (45/52) double moves to bridge the gap
(Oh, and I forgot to say I drank the potion of heroism.) If I’m in melee range I will make one attack with my +1 shortsword Attack: bless 4+8 Damage: 9
And spend a ki point for Flurry of Blows. Attack: bless 3 + 25 Damage: 8
Attack: bless 3 + 15 Damage: 6
The Giant Scorpion (31/52) gets hit twice, and strikes back.
Claw 1 Attack 14, Damage 5
Claw 2 Attack 17, Damage 7
Sting Attack 17, Damage 11
Ouch! Thank goodness for the Potion of Heroism. )
Death dances out of the way of the first claw only to get snatched by the second, and as he’s struggling to free himself from the clutches of the claw when the stinger comes down and scrapes along his back. He jerks out from the claw, spends his remaining ki point to dodge as a bonus action and jerks out a potion of healing and drinks it for 9 healing.
The Giant Scorpion (31/52) attacks the dodging monk,
Claw 1 Attack 19, Damage 5
Claw 2 Attack 12, Damage 3
Sting Attack 8, Damage 10
That’s one hit. I’ll retaliate with my sword and fist! Attack: 8 Damage: 8
Attack: 15 Damage: 6

The Giant Scorpion (31/52) attacks the dodging monk,
Congratulations, you gain 450 XP and +500 gp. If you would like to roleplay your conversation with the Wardens, you can use the information you've gathered to post a scene. The Wardens will want you to track down the missing Wizard +500 gp
You can level up your character or start fresh with a new Tier 2 character, level 2 with 1500 gp. I've posted new Encounters and updated the lead post on this thread.
OOC: I think I'll keep going with Garagas for now. Kind of want to see how far he can get before he dies. (Plus that'll give me more time to think of what the next character will be. The content sharing is opening up a lot of options I'll want to look at.)
For the information I've gathered, is there a place I should look for that?
And with exploring the tower, is that going through the other T1 encounters too still? Or choose one of the T2 encounters for the next one in the tower? Probably looking at the two polar bears. Gonna want to prep the room with the jelly ochre with some traps and things before proceeding up the stairs though.
I'm open to going backwards and exploring more T1 action, different monsters, what not. The beauty of D&D is that having a real live person as the DM, and not an AI or computer program, the game becomes limitless. Right now we are starting T2 but if you have something else in mind, want to go off script (just a little), let me know. I'm curious if you have an idea that we can try but using the limitations and confines of the Solos mini campaign.
Alrighty. Good to know for going forward. (And in reply to the earlier DM side note, been fun going with the challenges.)
Garagas reaches the top of the vines, potion of heroism in hand and traps dangling at his waist, and gazes into the interior. "Polar bears?" he mutters. Shaking his head at the discovery he says a quick prayer and readies for battle.
Garagas will enter on W7. (light grey is ground-level, right?) Initiative: 5
(self-note: Try using caltrops to slow them down, lay a hunting trap to hold one [use shove actions to push it there if need], and try to get a one on one. Also cast Bane on them.)

Garagas Initiative: 5 Polar Bear initiative roll 19
Polar bear will double move to be adjacent to W7
OOC: Saw the clarification that's it's one monster at a time. So is it a case of "Fight one bear, and then the second afterwards."?
yes
Garagas flinches as the polar bear charges. He downs the Potion of Heroism, grabs his Yklwa, and begins circling the beast, seeing if he can reposition himself and get a sense of its nature.
Action: Drink potion //+10 temp HP and Bless effects Movement: W7->W8->V9->U9->T8->T7->T6 //assuming polar bear is on V7, V8, U7, U8 and so staying in its melee range doesn't provoke opportunity attack. Please correct me if I'm wrong Bonus Action (if able to do this): Assess the polar bear and ladder to see if it's capable of climbing the ladder Nature: 3
You seem to think that the polar bear is unable to use a ladder, for various reasons.
The Polar Bear will move close enough to multiattack

You seem to think that the polar bear is unable to use a ladder, for various reasons.
The Polar Bear will move close enough to multiattack
Bite Attack 8, Damage 13
Claw Attack 27, Damage 16
Please add 2d6 9 to the above 16 damage (25)
Well this seems like a good time to use Stone's Endurance.
Reaction: Reduce damage taken by 1d12 + CON 9 + 3 = 12 25 damage reduced to 13.
Garagas bites his cheek at the polar bear's attack. "You sure pack a punch." he mutters. Seeking put some distance between him and the bear in hopes of setting an obstacle he takes a risk and darts to the ladder and up the ramparts, sidling his yklwa to free up his hand.
Action: [action]dodge[/spell] Movement: 15ft to get to the magenta ladder and ascend it (6+5 >= 5 Athletics passed) and then the other 45ft to get to J2.
(Hoping this works out. Gambling on the opportunity attack missing to try laying a caltrop or something to take out its speed advantage.)
The Polar Bear (42/42) takes an attack of opportunity
Bite Attack 9, Damage 7
The Polar Bear will double move to get back into melee range at J2, no actions left this round.
Garagas breathes a sigh of relief as he escapes the polar bear only for it to come up the ramp. "Let's give it another go around." He snarls as he extricates himself more carefully and heads towards the green ladder to flourish down it and arrive at H3, palming a bag of caltrops in his hand.
Action: Disengage Movement: 30 ft to H3 Item Interaction: Palm caltrops
/* assuming the bear double-moves up and around to be on ~G4, G5, F4, F5 */
With the bear at his throat once more he looks back to the magenta ladder. "One more risk and then I finally take the fight to you." he says, dashing up away to T2.
Action: Dash Athletics x + 5 > 5 (ladder climbed) Movement: To T2
Condition Bonus Action: If the Polar Bear's opportunity attack hits and does 6+ damage he will cast Healing Word on himself. Hit Points Healed: 2+5 = 7 Self-Note: Remember to knock off spell slot if condition is met
(I'm thinking I might try a goblin for the next character. I feel like bonus-action disengage would come in handy to free up some actions to do things like lay caltrops and set traps.)
The Polar Bear (42/42) takes another attack of opportunity
Bite Attack 17, Damage 9
Alrighty. Ticked off the spell slot. (And with -9, +7 reduced from 16/19 to 14/19.)
Question: Which squares did the bear move to on its turn? Gonna be laying a caltrop and want to figure out where to situate myself.

/* assuming the bear double-moves up and around to be on ~G4, G5, F4, F5 */

Question: Which squares did the bear move to on its turn? Gonna be laying a caltrop and want to figure out where to situate myself.
Choose a square and I'll confirm.
Assuming I've got the ramp movement correct, looks like M1, M2, L1, L2 and U4, U5, V4, V5 are the options and U4, U5, V4, V5 is the closer one so I'm guessing that would probably be the one the bear would go for. (If it can't share between white spaces and yellow spaces for the moment it would be on T6, T7, U6, U7 then it would be on U5, U6, V5, V6 instead.)
I will take on the giant scorpion (action economy reasons)! initiative: 21
Does the roll of 8 to hit need a +1d4 Bless from Heroism?
The Giant Scorpion (31/52) attacks the dodging monk,
Claw 1 Attack 8, Damage 7
Claw 2 Attack 21, Damage 7
Sting Attack 20, Damage 10
It does, in fact. 2
Anyway, that 17 damage takes me down. Death saving throws just in case! Adding bless in case it applies.

If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
Atherna, the bugbear Wizard wielding a +1 rapier and protected only by armor of invisible force, approaches the polar bear (Encounter 2C) that she knows is at the Old Keep. Unlike her brother, who she has come to avenge, she makes use of her fey ancestry, her magically lightened steps making no sound despite her large form. She has learned from his brother's mistakes, and so prepares for the inevitable battle accordingly; earlier, she casted mage armor and rested well, and now she drinks a potion of heroism- a tactic that worked well for her brother (usually).
Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

(Considering the polar bear is literally incapable of rolling higher than either of those, I hope you don't mind me being a bit proactive and taking my two turns. Oh, and I forgot that she has an owl familiar as well. Owl's Initiative: 4 [3 + 1])
Springing into action as soon as she sees the oblivious target of her vengeance, Atherna flicks a gold coin into the air, which then shatters into three hypoallergenic missiles that whistle towards her foe. Unfortunately, the instability of the spell causes it to backfire, sending all of the missiles whistling right back towards their creator. Undeterred, she moves about the top of the wall, gliding along with such detail and precision that it almost looks like she's dancing. In the meantime, her owl swoops right in front of the bear's face, leaving its reach before it has a chance to attack.
Atherna's Turn: Action: Jim's magic missile: Nat 1, 3 force damage to Atherna Bonus Action: Bladesong Movement: Start at W14, move 40 feet to S19
Owl's Turn: Movement: Start at W9, fly 45 feet or so to be on R9, 10 feet above ground Action: Help, next attack against polar bear has advantage Movement: Fly 15 feet to be on P11, 15 feet above ground
Just as the polar bear starts to get wise to the situation, Atherna flicks another coin into the air and sends three gluten-free missiles whistling towards it, taking advantage of her owl's distraction.
Missile 1: 12 (4,4 + 5 + 3) to hit, 10 (4 + 6) force damage
Missile 2: 19 (10 + 5 + 4) to hit, 15 (4 + 11) force damage
Missile 3: 22 (16 + 5 + 1) to hit, 8 (2 + 6) force damage
Either the polar bear or the owl goes now, depends on the polar bear's initiative.

Nadir parries 7 damage, and her armor deals 5 cold damage to the river when it hit her. Then she attacks again with her rapier.
Attack: 13 Damage: 5
The Tiger (27/37) takes some cold damage and bites back,
Bite Attack 21, Damage 10
(But it also hit the normal attack, right? So HP should be down 5 more at 22 I think)
The tiger gets Rime good and she barely escapes his jaws. Luckily her icy armor caught half of the force but she is not going to survive many of those bites. The tiger receives another 5 damage from armor of agathys (which is now spent). Rime lunges forward again to pierce the tiger’s pelt.
Attack: 14 Damage: 5
Reaction: Rime would counter a particular hefty blow (a crit hit) with magical distraction aka Silvery Barbs

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Considering that we're locked in melee until death (I don't see any chance to run away) and to speed things up, we could do two turns in a row? I mean there are two more tigers to come and this could take very long if we roll poorly.
If that is something you would consider, here's the off turn of Rime (perhaps consult after the tiger's turn?):
She attacks with her Rapier and, if and only if she's been bitten again, she draws on her inner reserves to restore her resolve against the tiger (BA Second Wind).
Action: Attack: 18 Damage: 9 (if advantage due to the trigger of Silvery Barbs: 6, additional damage if the advantage roll results in a critical hit: 2.) Bonus Action (if she'd been bitten again): Second Wind: heal 7 HP Reaction: Rime will continue to counter particular hefty blows (critical strikes) with Silvery Barbs

Action: Attack: 18 Damage: 9 (if advantage due to the trigger of Silvery Barbs: 6, additional damage if the advantage roll results in a critical hit: 2.)
Bonus Action (if she'd been bitten again): Second Wind: heal 7 HP
Reaction: Rime will continue to counter particular hefty blows (critical strikes) with Silvery Barbs

Yep. Should have specified, I’m doing tier 1 again.
If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
No problem, I'll update the Encounter List too.
