Acknowledgement to Sildar, thanks, and appreciation at once; He raises a mug of room temperature ale, black as midnight- one eye still closed, some fraction of still asleep, and eating bacon and eggs with the bare fingertips exposed by his archers' glove.
Fjolnir screws up his attention to chime-in, "I'm fine with that- walk over yonder, scan the bounty boards, ask about the brothers at Barthens', walk across the street an nab wunna them pearls at the store, then hit up the orchard owner to see if he knows a good approach to Cragmaw."
he blinks heavily and both eyes are open now.
"Maybe we mull over what we've learned then and see where to go next?"
With nods to each other's racial strengths and real friendships brewing based on historical alliances, you all finish your breakfast and head out. (Breakfast was included with your payment from last night, so you won't need to spend any more money at the Inn unless you stay another night. But make sure you've been properly keeping track of your rewards and payments.)
The wanted poster board is at the Townmaster's Hall, so since Sildar requested you meet with him later, you figure you can look at it then.
You head to Barthen's first, to check in. He tells you, "The Rockseeker brothers haven't shown up yet, and honestly, I'm a bit worried. They've never gone this long between resupplying. I hope they're alright..." When you ask if he has any pearls, he says, "No, nothing beyond standard provisions. Check with Halia Thornton at the Miner's Exchange though. She collects gemstones mostly, and you can't dig pearls out of mines, but she might have something."
The Eldermath Orchard is a little closer to you right now than the Miner's Exchange, so you head there next. Making your way down the road, you see a fit, Elven male outside working. Given how slowly Elves age, he must be well over 100 years old. He notices you and gives you a nod as you approach. "Hail, strangers. If my eyes don't deceive me, you must be the adventuring type. Tell me what brings you to Phandalin, and how ol' Daran Eldermath can help."
"Howling? Sorry, no. I must have slept right through it. I was exhausted though, so I'm not surprised. I needed that rest. Could it have been a coyote or wolf or something?"

-We are all just one failed saving throw away from someone else's fantasy...
"we might be in the surrounding area maybe we can keep an eye out for them do you know about where they were camping for general direction, and i'm sure it's nothing but if something were to have delayed them do you have any idea what it could be." (i'm curious if they ran into the orcs or if it's something new)
when i see the elf on the side of the road
oh you're the orchard keeper we hear tale that you were quite an adventurer yourself, we could use a little help with navigation maybe some insight as well as any advice a well seasoned adventure as yourself could spare (attempting to flatter him but not be a kiss ass i'm a strong adventurer also.)
Barthen replies, "I have no clue, they just told me they were camping outside of town. I don't know which direction or how far. Hopefully, they're alright and are just sustaining a little longer than I expected with what they have. I fear the worst, as I often do, but we'll see."
Daran smiles when you mention his former adventurer status, he starts reminiscing, "Ah, yes. Good times. I served as a marshal and herald for many years in the lands of the Dragon Coast, far to the southeast. I've always called these lands home, though, and once I retired, the choice to come back was obvious. I'm not an active member anymore, but I used to belong to the Order of the Gauntlet. We keep an eye out for and work to protect innocents from evildoers. That being said, it's time someone put a stop to these damn Redbrands. I'm not the spry fighter I once was, but I'm sure you lot would stand a decent chance teaching them a lesson, you look capable indeed. Something most people here don't know, but since I keep an eye on things, I found out their leader goes by Glasstaff, and while they frequent the Sleeping Giant, they have a safehouse underneath Tresendar Manor, the ruin at the east edge of town.
Beyond that, I've heard stories from prospectors in the hills northeast of Phandalin that someone is digging around in the Old Owl Well ruins. Some of them said they were chased out by the undead! It's a two-day march northeast of Phandalin, and I'd do it myself but these old bones don't have it in them anymore. If you're so inclined, could you go and find out who’s there and what they’re up to? The ruins are an old watchtower that belonged to an ancient magical empire called Netheril, and I worry that someone is going to get hurt from dangerous magic that might be dormant there. I don't have anything to offer, except maybe putting in a good word with the Order for you."
After that, you make your way to the Phandalin Miner's Exchange. The building serves as a veritable trading post for miners and prospectors to weigh their findings and get paid for them. Also within the building are stacks of records depicting stakes on claims and other properties, so the building doubles as the town record storage. Sitting at a desk with a set of scales and writing in a ledger is a middle-aged human woman who looks up when you enter and asks, "Greetings. Here to buy, sell, or stake a claim?"
Hymir: Greetings I'm told you normally deal in Gemstones but you might be the person to talk to about a pearl I am seeking? This is my associate Dirk.
Dirk: Hello, and you are?(Looks at Halia to determine.... whether Halia is a man or a woman)
Halia: (A woman) Well met, Dirk, Hymir, I go by Halia. I do have mostly gems, but I happen to have 1 pearl, given to me by a friend a long time ago.
(Hymir Reaches to examine pearl and see if it will do for his spell, she pulls it back)
Halia: look with your eyes, eh?
Hymir: Sorry I mean no disrespect I was just curious about it(Pulls back behind Dirk, who smiles)
Halia: Hmm. Honestly I wasn't looking to sell it. (She thinks for a minute) But I would... if...You do me a favor.
Dirk: I think we are open to ifs(Looks at Hymir. Hymir nods yes) Please, do tell.
Halia: She smiles "Excellent. You're new in town, eh? No doubt you've heard of or seen the Redbrands? Pathetic ruffians if you ask me. Aimless, spineless, degenerates." She spits. "You take out their leader, Glasstaff, cut off the head of the snake, no offense, and they'll disband. They already barely hold together as it is."
Dirk: I do believe we were already considering, looking into that problem.
Hymir: (whispers to Dirk)this pearl could help us on this quest try and get it now)
Halia: You do this, and I'll reward you with this pearl.
Dirk: Potentially, that pearl could aid us on that quest. Have you heard my tale? My merry group and I dispatched bandit goblins on our way here. It's.... what we do
Halia: Go on...Hmm, I know all about pearls being used as spell reagents, I'm no stranger to the sort of thing, and honestly, this one is sentimental to me. Of course, if I give it to you I'd have to get myself a new one, which I'm willing to do if you take out Glassstaff.
Dirk: We are next underway to take care of these Redbrands, and a few other problems we've heard around here. If you would be willing to advance us the pearl, we could.... visit upon Glasstaff a punishment you deem fitting. Why, I bet we could drag that sorry sack to your door if you wanted to spit in his face.
Halia: I have no hate for the man, nor a wish for revenge of any type. This is a strategic endeavor. With Glasstaff dead, the Redbrands will be scattered, easily swept up and finished afterwards. That is all, no need to do it myself. But if you're willing to provide proof of the death of Glasstaff, and any correspondence you find in his possessions, this pearl is yours.
Dirk: What if I offered you collateral until I pay this debt. Something of equal value to me. Something, I would direly be wanting back. It will, bind me to you and this agreement until it is done.
Hymir: (chiming in) I fear not having it would make this task far more difficult.
Halia: (She raises an eyebrow and looks back and forth at both of you) You're bull-shitting me. A feather? Really? Come talk to me when you've killed Glasstaff, until then, this stays with me. I didn't make it in this town because I was gullible." She pockets the pearl and starts writing in a ledger.
Hymir: Thank you for your time we will be back with the task completed.
Dirk: I don't think you are gullible, I think you can look a man in the eyes and size him up before he even opens his mouth.
Halia: Mmm Hmm. (She doesn't look up and continues writing.)
Dirk was about to say something
Hymir: (whispers) We dont want to over push a free pearl for something we were going to do anyway, thanks for trying.
Dirk: Fair enough. Good day. We'll return with what you ask.
At the prospecters place Az Emberi leans against a tree outside and doesn't go in.
To Daran "Thank you for the information. The Old Well is something we'll look into. I believe we have business in that direction as is. The news of the Redbrands is not new. We've heard many disparaged if their presence but have yet to encounter them. As for our initial question have your travels ever taken you near a place called Cragmaw Castle. We have an imperaled friend who may be prisomer there."
Daran smiles at Az Emberi, "Oh, right, sorry friend, sometimes I get carried away. Actually, being that all my adventuring took me south of here, along the Dragon Coast, I've never heard of Cragmaw Castle, sorry. Well, now wait for a second, I've heard Cragmaw before, but not linked with a castle." He looks lost in thought for a second. "Nope."

there are alot of things going on in this town and alot of work we can get done but I think we should focus some of these rmtasks are time sensitive and as much as I want to go see a banshee and track down a spellbook as well as stop these Redbrands from terrorizing the town, these orcs seem like they are on the verge of a raid and Gundren's brothers haven't returned as expected. I fear that if we dont try and find them immediately that they could be killed and the trail would go cold.

Finished with the Miner's Exchange, you head up the road toward the Townmaster's hall. As you come Northeast around the Lionshield Coster, you see four armed ruffians walking South toward you. All of them are humans wearing grimy red cloaks, their hands on their weapons as they watch you.

I'm kind of a folk hero now, no biggie. (I grab an article of his soiled garb, mincing it between my fingers) I seem to recall some, required hygiene in the guild. Surely they haven't changed that much since I left?
