(The Dice Gods are SOOOO against us this battle. That would have been 23 damage. I looked at the red roll and I was like "good, I get to reroll", and then I realized it was just bless. But apparently AC 20 is SUPER easy to hit for my enemies.)

Scarab retaliates against Church, but he can't overcome the Heavy Plating. (That's why I always roll the bless separate. 1d4 has a 50% chance of coloring. You can automatically retool the 1s with 1d20ro1.)
Church responds in kind, hitting (2)16 for 6 blunt. A brutal blow, but Scarab hangs on.
(Just to confirm about those dice gods having their favorites...)
