let us all move away from talking about the most powerful classes and class tier list, and lets instead talk about what class or classes you personally think are the most fun? what classes just fill your heart with joy, what classes are just ******* hype to play, what classes do you like for their role playing potential or for particularly ludicrous gimmicks? just what class do you think is the most enjoyable to play as, is it barbarian with big stronk energy, paladin with their super satisfying divine smite, warlocks with their roleplaying potential and eldrich blast, monks with their fantastic skirmishing abillities? perhaps druids or clerics? what class do you, personally, enjoy the most is what i am asking, not nessesarily your favourite, not nessesarily the most viable or powerful, the one that gives you the most enjoyment?

The quirks of the personality enhanced by abilities are what make a class fun for me.
I often use a class as a set of rules with loose basis upon the traditional roleplay definition of the class. A Warlock that is a Paladin or vice versa. A Monk that's just a drunken Pirate.
Every class can be a whole lotta fun.
EDIT: I think I'm going to go with (only from experience) the two "Monks" I played that weren't monastic by any means. One, a lazy custodian (and impressively bad at his job) thrust into adventure by no desire of his own. One, a pirate first mate living a double life - vicious pirate on sea, simple sailor when visiting family at home.
In both cases, the class gave me some of the tools to build the characters I liked most. So, I'm going to type, Monk, for my vote.
Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
This is different to everyone. I prefer Wizards or Artificers, because of their mastermind intellect.
so what you are saying, is that out of all the classes, playing artificers and wizards made you smile the most, made you laugh the most, made you have the most fun overall?

I am saying this. Artificers and Wizards are the most fun to me, as I get to use my brain, and I can cast spells in creative ways, and I love roleplaying them.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
I really like playing a Warlock because there's so much ingrained roleplay potential with the Patron. I also enjoy the challenge of the class with the limited spell slots, but combined with the Eldritch Invocations which allow you to heavily customize your character or pick out a few unique spells that can be cast freely. Having a Charisma-based caster is great as well because high Charisma has so many effects on roleplaying.
I only have one chara so far. His name is Nishi Ravenfeather and he's a (still very young) Woodelf Circle of the Land (Coast) Druid.
I took the Sage background, but switched History proficiency for Nature, because he did not like listening to his teachers and snook out of the window to go playing in the forest surrounding his village.
His strong skills are ofc WIS and DEX, so he listens to his gut feeling and is pretty nimble and good with his bow. On the other hand, he has a 10 in both INT and CHA, so he's not very smart and a bit awkward in social situations. (Tho I like to think the INT just means he does not think about what he does and just does it xD)
Being a Firbolg is pretty fun, because their ribbon ability to speak with animals and plants leads to some fun and unexpected role play that often catches the DM by surprise, and turning invisible and detecting magic are useful to do at least once per day. Other races with surprising or unique features (kobolds groveling in combat, aasimar growing wings, etc) that aren’t just bonuses are pretty fun.

“Fun” isn’t usually the first word that comes to mind when I think of elves... but now that you mention it, I suppose you could party pretty hard round the clock with that trance ability.
If you're into RP then Bards win hands down all day and twice on Sunday.
After Bards, probably Rogue.
what do you feel make bards fun, what is it you feel is the core of their hillarity? is it simply the joy of playing the bardic archetype, a chaotic actor in an lawful world? is it the roleplaying potential an bard presents? is it their reliance on charisma? is it their jack of all trades nature? is it their magical secrets for extra magics?

If the general Internet's (and, often, entertainment media's) opinion of Bards is anything, it's all the sex they have.🤣

Bards have tons of skills, tons of expertise, half proficiency in everything else, a fun spell list. It does not matter what scene is going on, my bard always has something to do.

True. A group I watch has a Bard that, at most situations, is saying something like, "Oh! I have just the thing for this!"
(This is also the same Bard who is exceedingly short-sighted and impulsive. He means well, though... even if his well-meaning squished 15 orphans to be used as grout for the very orphanage that was being built for them. The Evil character in the party loves it when their Bard gets ideas.)
