I've been going off the assumption that the brooch of shielding will get the axe (or at least the force resistance part will).

I imagine it'll see some changes. Otherwise, Barbarians will want to stock up on those instead of healing potions. Which is a very weird thing to think. Our fierce buddies bringing their brooch collection to their boss fights :)
Actually, everyone will pretty much want a slew of those, attunement notwithstanding. They'd be literally more useful than healing against magic-weapon wielding opponents.
EDIT: So, I read the description, and it was my 3.x brain whispering things again. Brooch of Shielding isn't limited by 101 points of damage these days. It's straight-up resistance. Which makes it even more necessary against fights against magic-weapon wielding opponents.
I don't see a problem with it, at least not yet. It seems that force damage type now has a role of "almighty" damage - the type of damage that is seldom, if ever, resisted, and likely there's not going to be anything vulnerable to it. Just pure damage that bypasses everything, with no side effects like setting things on fire.
It all depends on just how common it becomes.
Assuming it is how they deal with magic weapons as well, then basically all humanoids in tier 3&4 will deal primarily force damage.
do all barbiarians need force resistance to defend them against their dm?

unhappy at the way in which we lost individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
tell them you don't like features disappeared quietly in the night: providefeedback!
The one thing about moving everything to force is that a brooch of shielding will literally make all magic weapons kind of useless and lame. Since a Brooch of shielding is an uncommon item, it's not exactly like they are rare and if so many magic items use force damage, it'll become a must have item. If Barbarians could also resist force, then perhaps it'd be less sort after for them at least.
This is the problem with this shift and backwards compatibility. Not only is there the Brooch of Shielding, there are 7 published monsters with complete immunity to Force damage, and 9 with resistance.

Must have items in a world where the DM gives it to you or not really doesn't make them "must have" does it?
Can want it as much as you want, hell it could be a common magic item.. doesn't mean you'll ever see one
Let's wait and see what the actual monster look like before we assume everything will be dealing force damage at high levels. I don't think they want every humanoid to be dropping magic items at any level of the game.

They could just add "from spells" to the item. Or "from spells and spell attacks" if you're feeling spicy.
