Blind Fighting was part of the Class Feature Variants UA document which has taken forever and three dongs to get done. It was never 'active' in the sense that someone could take it on DDB, and frankly by this point we're all kinda expecting it to not be active until it shows up in a book somewhere. DDB needed the time to refigure their code base to allow for variant class features, which they've supposedly done but now the actual UA doc is taking more forever to implement. It's one of those things that's sorta perpetually Only A Few Weeks Away(TM); a lot of us have given up on it ever going live.
Side note: anyone else miss Dan Telfer? People liked to hate on his comedy pieces, but I thought they were a nice change of pace, and good for people who could get over themselves enough to laugh at this eminently laughable game.
This is sad.. you can select other UA stuff on other classes, but not for fighter. I guess it’s time to do a manual sheet.
None of the features from the Class Feature Variants are available on DDB yet. All other UA materials from all other UAs are available for everyone including the Psi Knight and Rune Knight which are both UA fighter subclasses.

I liked Telfer. They weren't the most cerebral, but they were pretty funny.

Eh, he was ok. A little too meta for me though.
But if your not Meta your just a boring normal character like Batman instead of being cool like the Flash who would be cool to play with as you wouldn't have to wait for them to take their action on their turn.
Because everybody took it in 2e, it was the first thing I noticed missing in 5e when I picked it up.
Well yes a melee character without it was seriously gimping themselves. But then people hate 2nd nowadays it seems. Look at that "comical" piece a few months back.
I still have a fondness for 2e. What “comical” piece?
Purposedly bad Unearthed Arcana.
Edit: I still prefer 2nd to 5th. 5th misses depth and should have taken the opportunity to go tabula rasa on Forgotten Realms, not build on an already cluttered setting with lvl 20's on every street-corner. But I digress.
Sunlight Sensitivity is limited to sight for the simple reason that Faerzress (which only appears in the the FR setting as far as I know) has now been defined as being "highly radiative". Its one of the reasons why many Underdark races have Magic Resistance (Magic Resistance being the equivalent of Radiation Resistance in this instance). As such, we are supposed to ignore the fact that UV from the Sun would fry any species/race that spent its entire life underground. But that's my take on this. I try to keep a bit of realism in my games, so when this came up in one of my games, I immediately deferred to the WoTC till I could find something, or make a more definitive call.
Back in 2nd Edition, we never really thought about it at first, and when we did start asking, TSR/WoTC never bothered answering, now apparently they have. They've fit into the lore of the Descent of the Drow; though where it came from is still up in the wind apparently.
Now Blindsense/Blind Fighting is completely Daredevil. And that's why we picked it up as fighters, well that and to offset being stabbed in the back by a NPC rogue. Can't get that extra backstab damage if you know they're there.
