Yes. I do think that the metamagic and tracker feats make sorcerer/ranger feel not so fun. Play a rogue with tracker! Or play a ranger without a feat.... I would love the tracker to just be a ranger feature. 'Master Tracker'. Like that, but obviously better and no wisdom increase. Overall, a very nice ua. I so want to play an archfey warlock with the fey magic feat.
Although with regards to ab earlier post, the reason over half of people on here don't have feats, it's because not everyone wants to buy the physical PHB, and the virtual one.
What's everyone's favourite feat from here then?

I mean, I figured discussion of how feats fit into the game was relevant for a 'Feats' UA, but a'ight... q_q
I will express a bit of disappointment with 'Piercer' as written. Piercing damage is the most common form of martial damage, and according to this document the least beneficial. Getting to reroll a single piercing damage die once per turn is not amazing compared to control effects like the ones on Crusher and Slasher; nobody liked "reroll one die once' when it was on Savage Attacker, either. The extra die on crit is nice and kinda speaks to the lethality of piercing damage in general (deep penetrating stab wounds are how you win fights IRL, and why humanity and its ability to create deep-piercing weapons that could be thrown took such a huge toll on ancient megafauna that were otherwise largely immune to the slashing attacks of other common predators), but overall Piercer feels weaker than either of the other damage-type feats. At least to me. Is that just me?

It may seem strange, but I really like the Shield Training Feat and Tandem Tactician. I have had an idea for a War Mage for a while that doesn't get into melee but is more of a battle field commander type and both of these would be great for that character.

Mix it in with inspiring leader and alert (don't want to be caught off guard). Nice.

I can definitely agree with Piercer being the least appealing option of the three, but I would still take the Feat after picking up Sharp Shooter.
I really want some more feats for tools. We have linguist for languages, cook and poisoner and we just need some more. Xanathars expanded on crafting, but there is so much homebrew for this, it should get some official love.
My favourite feat is the fey magic feat, as it seem so great for a warlock. An extra two spell slots? Then take that invocation feat, get mage armour for free. Ooh...

At first I was totally against metamagic adept but then I took a larger viewpoint. This UA is WOTC saying the community is right the sorcerer is too weak. Metamagic adept is a huge boost to the sorcerer and gives other casters essentially 3 levels of sorcerer for 1 feat. The only rationale from a game design perspective is 3 levels of sorcerer is viewed as = 1 feat. Add the fact that the spellcasting feats add the spell to your spells known by allowing you to free cast then fuel with spell slots. Since the sorcerer at level 20 only has 15 spells known so this is essentially Sorcerer the UA edition. I may have issues with some of the options presented but am optimistic since they are finally realizing they screwed up the sorcerer class.
The Feat only allows you to re roll 1 die, but I don't see why you couldn't re roll one of the sneak attack dice.
lol this is why I asked the question.
For what it's worth, this is essentially the same wording as Half Orc Savage Attacks, but that specifies one of the weapon's dice. This doesn't have that stipulation. It simply says "one additional damage die," but I doubt they're intending for you to be able to roll a d100 there.
Because I apparently owe people some fluffy funtime reading to make up for being Grouchy Gretchen...some interesting character ideas around some of the new feats.
Crusher:The Judo Master Create a monk with the Crusher feat. Play up their attacks less as strikes and sharp blows of fist or foot and more as joint locks, shoves, and slams. The Crusher feat’s ability to move people around plays quite nicely with a judo practitioner; mix in Tavern Brawler for bonus-action grapples and make liberal use of the Shove rules to trip enemies prone. Way of the Open Hand’s Open Hand Technique abilities mix very nicely with this style, and the ability to do nonlethal damage from the DMG can also make this an effective pacifist for those who favor a less bloody path.
Metamagic Adept: The Barely-Sorcerer You were born with the power of magic burning in your veins. Just...very faintly. Your well of sorcerous power is small and won’t get any bigger, no matter how hard you practice. Despite your flickering little candlelight of magical aptitude, you had to work your ass off for everything you’ve got. You’re a wizard, HarryPC – and you’ve got a real chip on your shoulder for those magical practitioners who coasted on talent and native gifts rather than the hard work, dedication, and diligence you had to put in. But secretly (at least, you fondly believe so), you long for the mighty well of blazing power that true, proper sorcerers have.
Tracker:The Mandalorian You’re an expert tracker of the most dangerous game. You didn’t bother with all that woods-faffery the rangers and druids get up to – your skills were honed in the depths of dense cities, dragging bounty heads back to whoever was most willing to pay for some personal alone time with someone who wronged them. The traces of your quarry are a bright red line to your honed senses, and once you’ve locked eyes with your mark (Hunter’s Mark), they can never escape.

That part on the tracker.... Imagine a blood hunter with this! Replace the wisdom with int, or change all intelligence based abilities with wisdom. And now.... I'm scared.

but overall Piercer feels weaker than either of the other damage-type feats. At least to me. Is that just me?
Considering the overwhelming commonality of Rapier, Dual Wielded Shortswords (and Sharpshooter and Crossbow Expert), I am assuming that the apparent disparity in power levels between Piercer and Crusher/Slasher is an attempt to correct for that. After all, everything else in this UA seems to be an attempt by WotC to “fix” something.

This is pretty much in line with a character idea I had when reading the Feat. Crusher and Way of the Open Hand are a great match.
I like the Chef Feat, but I think it would be better if feeding people during a short rest could get rid of a level of exhaustion or something. A single d8 of healing is not that great nor is a relatively small amount of Temp HP. I really do like the concept though.
Alternative take: people need extra HP a whole lot more often than they need to recover exhaustion. A single d8 of healing that you can give to four or five people without any resource expenditure (unless your DM tracks 'Ingredients') can add up over time, especially if the feat is taken early where nobody has any hit points to spare. The Scooby Snacks ability is a little undertuned but again, it's also free. Considering Chef is a half-feat, I can see why it's as limited as it is. Remember - Fey/Shadow Touched are super overtuned and will not see print in their current forms. Chef very well might.
I was thinking the recovery of a level of exhaustion would be in addition to the other abilities of the Feat. It would be just a little extra boost and still be within the theme of the Feat and not really break anything.
Counterpoint: being able to clear Exhaustion on a short rest means the party theoretically never has to take long rests. A Coffeelock with Chef could amass hundreds or thousands of free spell slots over the course of a months' downtime or a Travel Montage.
Exhaustion is meant to be punishing and difficult to clear. I don't really figure being able to pancake breakfast it away is a good idea.

Well, here's a question: does Piercer apply to Sneak Attack crits, and if so, is it all the dice or just one of them?
