Waiting for the round table to start, I have to say, so far I'm underwhelmed by this. :-/ Hopefully the details will be more... epic?

I really like what I’m hearing about it, but from the sounds of it, if you are looking for “epic,” then this is probably not the adventure for you. This sounds more immersive and grounded than epic, which is a nice variation from the other adventures.
I can't wait for this to come out. I've been wanting to run a game in an urban setting for a while. I'd actually been working on trying to build a Neverwinter campaign for the future, but this sounds a whole lot better.
Not so excited for this. Sounds great if you are big fan of the Realms and Waterdeep, but not my cup of tea. However I will keep watching and see if they reveal anything that changes my mind.
So y'all know, the D&D Beyond YouTube Channel uploaded a video summarizing what it'll be: link. As of the time of me posting this, it isn't even on the front page of DDB yet!
I'm pretty excited for this since I've been interested in running an urban campaign for a while, and this can give lots of inspiration on how to do that at the very least. I'm working on a new setting with a big focus on dragons, so maybe I'll make my own villain for the adventure and have them be a dragon.
It seems like it could be fun... with the right group. I've tried to do that kinda of scenario with my current group and they're not really the types to pick up on clues or be very proactive so I think this might not be the campaign for them.

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
Well it is official. Wizards has the book up on their website now. Looks like the adventure is for 1-5th level. Now that might be because they are emphasizing role play over combat. However they could also be using most of the book as a city campaign supplement so the DM can keep the game going after 5th on their own. Or they could be bringing out another campaign book (like they did with HotDQ/RoT) and do Undermountain or something. I think there is another book scheduled for November.

I would argue the plot for this heist adventure and the template the book gives you could be used on any plane if you wiilling to put a bit of effort in changing the name and some npcs, plus the items and shop owning rules definatly could be used in 90% of the settings (not sure you will find many shops on Athas XD).
On the being levels 1-5 i think we can still use it at higher levels due to it being so roleplay based just replace low CR monsters with higher ones and increase some DCs. Though i feel there are going to be some high CR monsters you can use but they are high to disencentivise murder hoboism.

I will definitely be checking it out to see what the book offers, but if it is anything like the Sword Coast book it will be a hard pass. The Xanathar's Guide and Mordenkainen's Tome have been really useful, so I am hopeful that there is broader use information and less Realm specific lore.
I would definitely love to ocean's eleven this, I've always had a liking of cityquesting, so this is right up my alley. I would expect a bit more in terms of player assets though; I imagine there would be subclasses up for grabs, it at the very least a bbackground or two. Well, let's see
Don't forget this is an adventure module like ToA or CoS so backgrounds may be a thing but subclasses and the like wont be included. In fact they said this adventure was designed with ppl owning Xanathars in mind (which does make sense which you consider mastermind and inquisitive was included).

Pretty underwhelmed by this one. Waterdeep has sooo much material already for it. I realize some noobs may need some of this stuff but why not just reprint a bunch of it in a campaign setting book? Hire an editor to copy and paste the important bits and a couple artist for a fresh new look. Presto! And then give us an adventure book we need...like a planer adventure for medium to higher level characters. It's been a long time since we got much on planer adventure.
Looking forward to incorporating bits and pieces into my ongoing games!

Hmmm.... Jeremy Crawford says expanded chase rules in W:DH.
Sept 6th in store. Sept 16th everywhere else.

It sure sounds a lot more interesting than I would have expected if you said “it is an adventure set in waterdeep”

I hate the Chase rules in the DMG. They do not play well at the table. If anything, they should be reworking them not expanding on a shitty system.

I'm so pumped for this. This is more my style of game, so I can't wait to get my hands on it.
