Am Making A Subclass and at level 10 it is given the spell fireball but can only use it once and the plan is for it to be given a 2nd use at level 14 and a 3rd use at level 17.
This is my first time trying to make something homebrew and am not sure how to do this everything i have tryed when it cames to added the spell i end up with the spell 3 times on my sheet, 1 with 1 use, 1 with 2 uses and 1 with 3 uses. i think i could just add a action that acts like the spell but then it will not show up in the spells on the sheet.
I think this would be where one could use a Replace feature instead of a Granted feature and just supersede the old one, with respect to number of uses. But alas I have not played much with Replace when it comes to subclass features. Plus I just started my shift and can't look into it right away.
this is a idea that i may go to if nothing else works but i rather not spam the sheet since i want to do this with 4 spells in total so then doing it like the its 4 spells repeating 3 times and that starts looks cluncky imo but if nothing else works this is what i will have to do
For official features like this they usually attach an Action (with or without an Activation Type) to the same feature that the spell is attached to and use that to track the number of uses. The spell gets no use data and displays under the Character’s Spells as “At Will,” but when the spell is tapped/clicked, the sidebar slides out and at the top it lists the feature name. When the feature name is tapped the sidebar changes from displaying the spell to displaying the feature and the limited use counters. Like how The Alchemist’s Restorative Reagents were programmed.

i maybe doing something wrong but this idea is not working i will keep trying in case am messing something up or i find a way for it to work
Why not just make them all 1 Use? Then it would still show up 3 times, but each only for a single use for 3 uses total.
