*reaches down from the cosmos to touch your "hand"*
*Shakes hand* Hi! How are you?
Enfishened
I made it to part 2 of To Kill A Mockingbird.
Cool! I've personally never read it, what's it about?
*Also I might vanish at any moment, cause I gotta go to bed soon*
I...
I'm not sure. A couple of dumb kids and their experiences growing up in Alabama not too long after the civil war. The deep south was pretty messed up.
I mean, it still is, but not as bad as back then.
An amazing book. One of my favorite classics. Top tier writing. It is an amazing portrayal of the historical South in all its glory and horror.
...and then I realized that this post was 20 hours ago. Still I can't help myself.
Hello, Dark.
It is quite a good book.
I enjoy Atticus.
Howdy, Baalz.
You know me, I enjoy anything Southern Gothic.
Atticus is indeed splendid. I was really hit by the scene with the rabid dog. It reminded me of my dad a lot.
Then I have a book suggestion. Southern Gothic and Cozy Horror. Haven't gotten around to reading it yet, given that I don't own it.
It's called A House With Good Bones.
Anyway, I'm getting ready to introduce something truly awful onto Lord's Rest Inn, and I'm working on Texan craftsman ogres, which I still need a name for.

Ooh that sounds interesting. I'm adding it to the book list.
I might have to start playing on Lord's Rest Inn again then. That rhymed thrice so I feel nice.
Suggestion for the Texan Craftsman Ogres's name: Them Big'uns. Kinda goofy so do whatever you want.
An online marketplace website where there are many people selling used pc parts for amazing prices
I have found a ton of RTX 4090 GPU's (the #1 top of the line graphics cards currently) for like a thousand less than msrp that have seen little to even no use, just open box
This is fantastic news because it means I will be able to build an EXTREMELY nice pc for much cheaper than otherwise
This will literally save me thousands of dollars
Nice! Good for you. I'll keep that in mind in case I need to replace a pc part.
Yeah, the website's called OfferUp, I was shocked that it wasnt just a bunch of scalpers selling 4090's at thousands of dollars but is people selling things in good condition for prices like less than half the original

As for that name, I'm not exactly feeling it. It should probably be either a nonsense name or a reference to some sort of mythical creature. These are desert-dwelling giants, so if you find something like that in your mental folklore library I'd be happy to hear it.

That truly awful something is truly awful.
Well nothing immediately surfaced in my mental folklore library so I looked at my actual folklore library that I've been assembling. The closest thing I could find to a desert giant is Haakapainizi (good luck using that name). He was a giant grasshopper ogre from a desert dwelling Native American nation from Southern California. He was a very evil, child eating monster who would cough up gore and fat to lure in bait. He had long grasshopper legs covered in spikes and he used them to blind the Quail Sisters. He took many forms, from that of a giant harmless looking old man, to a swarm of locust, and even a giant grasshopper that walked on its back legs and used two canes.

Indeed. He's going to be a scary villain, if things go well.
Maybe not that one. Looks like we're going original.
I was thinking that they're a lot like Lizardfolk when it comes to their natural talents, being basically perfectly cut out for their environment (ogres are big and strong and tough, after all). However, unlike Lizardfolk, these bois descended from the Giants and are natural craftsmen. I had the idea that they had a thing for alchemy in particular, thus leading to them using firearms and explosives like real cowboys.

How do you plan on playing a villain on a role-play thread? That can be difficult (but not impossible) to pull off.
What sort of things do they craft? It would be difficult to find materials out in the desert.
Let me throw some pasta at the wall here. What if they use cactuses as their cauldron pots and beakers? If they are into alchemy they could inject the plants with the chemicals they need and chow down on the cacti when they want to use their potions. If a party attacks them, they could trigger the cacti's alchemy causing them to explode and AOE properties resulting in some dangerous terrain.

Sorry, didn't get the notification for this for a while.
Villains have been played before. They typically only last a little while until they are defeated, but the important thing is that they are the types of characters the heroes want to defeat.
I haven't developed them all that much. I had some vague idea of strong religious beliefs and a violent history (raiding and pillaging stuff) giving way to comparatively peaceful farming and trading. Beyond that I don't have a lot.
I don't dislike the cactus idea, but I'm not jumping for it.
I think I need more inspirations to draw from for these guys.

1. Like 3 new people in a row, lol. Welcome to chaos incarnate!
2. (Gp)Post comedy show idea. The world is set in a modern yet mythological setting, where in order to move into the afterlife you have to pay a ferryman a small amount of cash. Except, one day a dead person goes to one of the ferrymen and says they're broke. The ferryman basically says, "Oh (GP), fr?" And they start a funeral home together. The ferryman tries to raise the most cash possible to help this soul get to the afterlife, and said soul tries to waste all of the cash raised without the ferryman realizing so that they don't have to move on yet, all while both are trying to keep their spooky underworld powers secret.
For further plot twist/drama, have the soul originally not want to move on just because it's death, but then it evolves into also not wanting to say goodbye to the Ferryman because they've become really good friends/lovers/some sort of strong bond.

I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft, Exandria and the Upside Down from Stranger Things. My pronouns are she/they (genderfae).
Yeah that was tough to read. It was a very interesting choice to write it from the point of view of a child.
