No Dev Update video since May 12, 2022. No major feature release since Containers came out of Beta on Feb 10, 2022. Everything else has just been app formatting and browser formatting updates.
I work in software and have gone through multiple acquisitions so I have a good grasp on the disruption they can cause to the product velocity... Even some of the DDB team have gone through multiple acquisitions (WHILE AT DDB)... yet, this acquisition seems shockingly disruptive to product/feature velocity and product transparency.
Maybe there is a ton of engineering overhead integrating backend with Wizards' backend?? Who knows? Because we've been left completely in the dark. Consistent product/dev updates and feature roadmaps would be super nice to have again.
Even if it is a periodic "Hey we are still super busy integrating with Wizards infrastructure"... that would be a better approach than the current radio silence.
I have seen that the feature request board is now being integrated with Wizard's Zendesk, so at least some progress can be seen there.
Although it is much better, DDB still lacks a lot of the QoL that it lacked in 2018. I mean, the search functionality works essentially as good as it did in 2018... and that's bad... yeesh. So I just get a bit frustrated when I see velocity and transparency dwindle like this and all we are getting are some minor revisions to the app...
Maybe we can expect something big at Wizards Presents tomorrow???
Can anyone from the DDB share some words to fuel some hope here?
You can buy a hardcover off amazon for $30, so beyond better plan on giving us AT LEAST a hardcover worth of content each month if they want to justify that pricing.

Yeah, $30 per month is ridiculous even with access to everything. What about people who already purchased books? We need lower cost options like what we already have. I hope this is a hoax and not the real plan.
D&D's having a big announcement day tomorrow. Someone may be leaking a "changes to DDB" slide or someone may be trying to build up agitation at DDB for buzzkill lols through a mock. Guess we'll see by this time tomorrow.

It better be a fake leak, because that kind of jump in subscription fees will lose them a LOT of subs... And it doesn't seem to consider those who've already purchased books / bundles...
If this is real I’ll unsubscribe, and quit magic too. $360 a year vs $50 a year I pay now. Sure it unlocks all the books but I already bought them all and the free tire has no home-brew and only 3 characters. I don’t see any content sharing. This really screws over existing customers, I really hope it’s fake.
I am already really disappointed with the quality of books we’ve been getting they just feel like half baked cash grabs, D&D beyond feels old and missing a lots of features. If this comes to pass it maybe the straw the brakes my back lots of rpg systems out there to try. The digits, sheets a nice but I own dice.
Eh, I'd be more likely to believe that this was a considered plan by WotC that was scrapped rather than the fabrication of some internet troll trying to accomplish... what exactly? Outrage at the idea of this sort of plan is fine and should help WotC connect more with their customers.

This is exactly why I posted it. I'm sure everyone thinks I'm a troll right now, but I'm just trying to get the community together in case corporate greed is about to ruin this platform I've come to love.

That makes it sound like you made the slide yourself and posted it to Imgur... 👀👀

Just got shared this through my campaign friends (I'm the only one who regularly uses D&D Beyond since we play on Roll20)
Gotta say, if they go forward with this plan I'm canceling my subscription completely.

Same and I've been subscribed at master tier since the beginning.
72/yr vs 360/yr - are you f*cking kidding me?

I didn't make the slide, I got it over discord from a friend then posted it to my imgur to post on the forums.
I fully expect people are going to believe what they want, however.
more "slides" are being leaked on imgur and reddit. each more ridiculous than the last.
here is the final slide, methinks the prankster feels he's made his point, there are 1 or two more on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/dndleaks/comments/wqtvi3/dd_beyond/
If anything, this has really underscored how very important it is to really scrutinize a rumor before girding yourself for war.
