Since a previous thread was marked "Resolved", I figured it was worth creating a new thread for one unresolved bug from the original thread, plus a new bug that thread didn't mention.
The Spear of Backbiting, the Javelin version of it, and similar homebrew weapons seem to miss several magic item Modifiers when attuned by a character.
Expected behavior: Adding Spear of Backbiting, activating it, and attuning to it should make the following changes:
+2 to hit and damage
+30 feet to normal and long range for throwing (Bonus - Weapon Attack Range)
+1d8 of damage (this should probably be +1d6, but making a homebrew copy of the item shows it has +1d8 for Damage - Additional)
Seen behavior: Adding Spear of Backbiting, activating it, and attuning to it makes only the following change:
+2 to hit and damage
All non-"Bonus - Magic" Modifier items for the item and all similar homebrew items I tested do not show up on a character sheet.
For Weapon Attack Range, I tried homebrew weapons with adjustments to Ranged Attacks, Ranged Weapon Attacks, Weapon Attack Range, and Weapon Attack Range Multiplier, but I saw no changes with any of those, even after reloading the character sheet. (See sample character linked above for a copy of the spear that has all these, but none apply to the character sheet.)
Having the same issue. Trying to change the range on an item (Ignore Range, then add Range) has no effect. Changing damage type only seems to work sometimes.
The item creation tool is terrible. Is wizards too busy making the books we bought obsolete to effect even simple fixes to the creation tool?
While they're at it, they should make it possible to just change the damage die of a weapon, as well.
Bonus - Weapon Attack Range Multiplier doesn't seem to adjust either the range or reach of a weapon. Am I maybe misunderstanding how it should work? I would expect it to take the number provided and multiply that by the short and long range of a ranged or thrown weapon.
Thanks for the clarification! I thought you meant that the interface doesn't allow it, rather than confirming that the bug I posted about does indeed exist. The interface definitely allows it, thus why I mentioned it again.
Heyo!! Just practicing a bit of necromancy here to resurrect this dead thread. I am having the same problem as derringdough! I have a couple of items that increase damage on attunement, but don't.
One of them does 2d6 bludgeoning when unattuned, but 3d6 fire when attuned. When it's attuned, it changes the damage type, but doesn't add the extra die of damage.
The other does 1d6 slashing when unattuned but adds an additional 1d6 fire when attuned. Nothing changes when I attune it.

There i no way to add additional damage dice to a weapon, attuned or not. You might give this a read through.

It is not currently possible to change weapon damage dice or ranges.

For homebrew items, there is currently the Bonus - Weapon Attack Range Multiplier which doesn't seem to work.
When I posted this bug originally, there were additional options, including:
...and neither of those worked, which is likely why they seem to no longer be available.
Indeed, which is why I said, "While they're at it, they should make it possible to just change the damage die of a weapon, as well."
But, that's on top of the other issues which exist. The things that supposedly are possible aren't working properly.
What all else isn’t working properly? Maybe I can help, I know that system pretty well.
