I made a homebrew magic item called "Gloves of the Cradle" which I tried publishing. Initially, it was rejected, but minutes later it was changed to accepted by a mod, which I can only guess was an accident. A
nyway, When I check out the gloves in my creations, it's written that they are "published, never submitted" in blue, instead of the usual "published, approved" in green. And the buttons to edit it, submit it or make a new version etc. Disappeared. I tried removing it from my collection (not that I want to but I felt there was no other option) I recieved an error notice of some sort.
I think I should also point out that when I first submitted it I wanted to make a correction, canceled the submission to edit, and submitted it again properly about 5 minutes later. But even so it is a strange glitch to err on.
I would like to get an idea of why my homebrew is malfunctioning and what can be done to fix it. Thank you.
I'm not - nor was I ever - your "obstacle" until you've deemed me as such, nor am I your wallet, my hard earnt money is not yours by deault.

I will always miss what you were, but I will never miss what you've become.
I searched the homebrew submissions and couldn't find one with that name, or anything submitted by you (but that could be due to changes in the admin interface around usernames).
It might be under a different name than PrinceZahn.

yeah, mine says 'never submitted' what does that mean?
That means you never clicked the link SHARE WITH COMMUNITY. There is nothing wrong with this if you're using a homebrew to do something for your character or are sharing it with someone in a campaign you are in.
Once you have thoroughly play tested and proof read your homebrew multiple times that you're proud of the thing and really do want to share it with the community, then you could click that link and we could all bask in the greatness of your creation or ridicule for the mistakes or overpoweredness.

Just to reiterate what Mairondil stated, If you have notthoroughly playtested, proofread, and edited your homebrew to the point where you are absolutely 1,000% sure it is absolutely perfect, then it would be better not to share your work with the community just yet. It is always better to take the time to thoroughly playtest, proofread, and edited your homebrew until you are absolutely sure that it is 1,000% perfect, before you share your work with the community.
I don't mean “give it a good once over,“ I mean go over your stuff really, really thoroughly. Once I learned of the myriad reasons not to publish anything that wasn't quite completely finished yet, I stopped publishing altogether for a long while. Now I take at least a few months going over something before publishing it. If it's a “hurry-up” situation (like ai have to make a deadline for a competition or something), then the fastest turnaround I really feel comfortable with is at least a month, longer if I have the time. I currently have some stuff that's been in playtesting for around a year now just because I keep finding little things to tweak, adjust or reword to improve them. I don't honestly expect anyone to take quite that long with things, but for your own sanity I do recommend taking a healthy amount of time going over something before calling it complete. And then, after you have published something, be prepared to find something you wish you had fixed or adjusted anyway.
Hey, I appreciate the thread necromancy recent spike in interest in the vestigial anomaly of this scenario. Just for context, however, this anomaly still exists for 6+ year, from when the homebrew publishing system was still new-ish and getting modified... and no one, including myself, seems to have a solution on how to fix this awkward status.
At his point I'd rather this thing just get deleted but I can't remove it myself.

It's available to use by anyone in the same campaign as you and any member who adds it to their collection from the public listing. Seems like everything is fine and dandy?

The problem is that this is the only homebrew in my creations that behaves as if it's not mine. I can't revise it, nor edit it, nor make a new version... I can't even delete it, which at this point--I would if I could. the options to do so just aren't there on my end.

Hey, how many people can say they have “Published, Never Submitted” homebrew. I can’t. It’s kinda cool, like when a baseball card, toy, or comic book gets misprinted and it becomes a collector’s item.”

Heh, thanks for the cold comfort but it's not exactly the one-of-a-kind scenario worth bragging about.
It's just a glitched-up homebrew submission from the early days of the site that fell between the cracks... it was a cute concept but far from my best work in hindsight. Ideally it would've been fixed long ago. Though I'm not confident anymore that it'll ever be fixed. I appreciate the gesture, though.

Oh, believe you me, if I could get the mods to take down a lot of my old homebrews so I could fix them and repost them I would in a heartbeat. Some of them have things I wish I could fix because they just annoy the bejeepers outta me, but some of them I’m almost a little embarrassed by to be honest. Eventually I just had to let go of all that though. Let the community see me, warts and all. That way when I urge people to take the time necessary to THOUROUGHLYplaytest, proofread, and edit their homebrews before publishing them, I can at least point to my own mistakes and show them that I honestly learned that lesson the hard way, and am saying that to help them.
