I’m working on the backend stuff for a hhome brewed Subclass. The class has access to spells, some of them are home brewed. One of those spells is displaying 3d6 damage on its own no problem. But when I select it in my test character sheet it only shows up as 1d6 and the actual text on the character sheet is blue instead of black. The only other spell presenting with blue instead of black text for the damage has two different damage types and they are both presenting properly. Please help!!!
Can you provide a better description of what the spell is supposed to do? And provide a link to both the spell and the affected character (from the URL bar, not share link). They do not have to be public / published for mods to see it.
the spell does 3d6 radiant damage on a failed Strength save and restrains the target for one turn unless they use their Reaction to break free. It does an extra 1d6 damage/spell level when upcast.
Hello! It looks like you have scaling set to "Spell Level". That scaling means that at the noted level, the effect will be replaced. To have the spell scale to add 1d6 extra per level-- Based on how you've written it here, you'll want to select "Spell Scale" as the scaling option. You can learn more about these three settings on the hover available on the "?" next to Higher Level Scaling Type.
Any advice on how to program the Subclass’s capstone feature? I can’t figure out how to get the aura to toggle on/off as a Bonus Action. It just stays on all the time.
D&D Beyond doesn't support temporary effects right now. At best you could implement it on a magic item that the player equips / unequips. Most things just don't do anything and leave it as text only.

In the Basic Information, make sure Higher Level Scaling Type is set to Spell Scale
In Additional Information, make sure Save Type is set to Str and Effect on Save Success should be "Half damage and not restrained"
As shown here:
The base damage should go under Modifier->Damage as follows
Then for the higher level cast use At Higher Levels

I can’t hover over the question marks, I’m on an iPad. It just flashes up and then disappears.
