Character-wide source restriction: I play AL so I'm restricted to PH + 1. I can filter options on the race tab, but for everything else I have to double-check almost everything I pick. This is extremely annoying and the character builder should do it for me on every tab and not just my race (especially spells and subclasses. OMG...)
Yes, a very much appreciated and needed update. And I love that it autocalcs the weight of the coins on the fly. My poor party is in ToA and has had to deal with Variant Encumbrance and coin weight. They just had to recruit four kobold inventors to their cause in order to be able to carry some of the dragon's treasure, leaving behind a lot of it.
Great work and thank you! This is a huge step in the right direction that is much appreciated by our group of players.
In lieu of custom class support (which I'm sure has already been requested countless times and will take time to develop), a nice temporary fix would be to allowing us to edit the text under Class Features. It would only need to be completely cosmetic; no need to tie it to any other functionality of the sheet. This way, we could have our custom class info all in one spot, which is aligned with your stated goals for this update. Instead, we have to use the Notes section (or even worse, PAPER), which gets right back to the issues you worked so hard to avoid.
Thanks again!
Or, add a blank base class to homebrew off of for each hp type?
- The cleric requests preset spell lists. He said he has a list prepared for social, one for adventuring, and one for combat. It was too much work to swap them all out every rest.
hi. ran my first game using DDB last night and, apart from a few teething questions, it all seemed to work nicely! i had a lot fewer questions about what things do or "can you pass the PHB" requests. ;-)
Now i've had time to live with the sheet and run a game with players using them i have a couple of bits of feedback. some have been mentioned before but i thought i'd add them to my list in case DDB are keeping count on how many times they're mentioned.
equipment containers to organise equipment
the ability to pass equipment between players in the campaign. it was a pain last night having to remove an item from one sheet then add it to another. a simple "give to player X" would be amazing!
the party found 10 scrolls. i had to create 10 x homebrew scrolls which took a while! it would be great if you can select "Spell Scroll" from the equipment list and then select the spell that is written on it to assign the spell to the scroll.
another request for the ability for party/individual spell buffs to update character sheets. i've had to create a homebrew item for the Warlock's Mage Armour spell so that when he casts it he equips that item and it updates his AC. i can see myself having to do the same for things like Bless etc as well.
some way of easily keeping track if you're concentrating on a spell. my players like to forget stuff like that. ;-)
not sure if or how this would be possible but one of the characters has the Arrow Catching shield and so is an extra +2 against ranged attacks. it would be nice to see that included in the AC so it displayed both armour classes. again....very forgetful players!
I'm struggling to think of much else. i think it's a great character sheet and the speed at which i see things getting fixed from feedback in this and the bugs thread is amazing. well done and keep up the great work.
I love all of these ideas! A workaround for the interim as a reminder about ranged attacks would be to give that player “resistance” to range attacks in Defenses. You’d just have to remember that it’s just a +2 to AC not true resistance but at least there would be something visible on their sheet.
Edit: now you’ve got me thinking... something along the lines of Conditions where you can turn on degrees of Cover and it adjusts your AC and Dex saves accordingly would be awesome!

adding cover would be great as well. should be pretty simple with a toggle switch and then listed under Conditions so you can see that you've got it toggled on!
i like the idea about resistance to ranged attacks. might be a good reminder that there's something going on that needs remembering.

Very pleased by the evolution of the sheet. Only complaint is the inability to make appearance info public.
I really hope they have a fully open version of the sharing. I tend to go to great lengths to provide story, motivation and character to my characters and so I feel like I'm only sharing half the character with the current setup.
Love the character sheet! Finding it super useful, and I'm getting my whole group into it!
That said, it would be beneficial to have more customization for custom actions/attacks. Especially useful would be the ability to create multiple attack entry options per weapon. It is not uncommon to have a weapon that deals different amounts of damage in different situations, or one that gets its damage from other items (a special quiver, etc.). Right now the workaround is to add multiples of items to your inventory and equip them both to get different attack entries, but that seems cumbersome. And the customization only lets you change the to-hit and the damage bonus, really. You cannot add, for instance, 1d4 cold damage to your weapon's damage.
Similarly, the custom actions/attacks do not let you put in an entirely customized to-hit or damage bonus. You are stuck giving it the ability mod (STR, DEX, etc.), and whether you are proficient with this custom attack. This makes it impossible to use this feature for something like Sharpshooter, where my to-hit should be 5 lower than usual, with 10 extra damage. So the custom attacks seem pretty useless to me at the moment.
I have a suggestion that has to do with carry weight and distinguishing between what is carried and what is stored somewhere. Under the equipment tab, we have "Other", already, but it's only a text input field. Why not make it work like the Inventory tab, but any equipment in it, isn't considered to be on the person, but rather, stored somewhere. There'd need to be some sort of toggle but surely that could be as easy as implementing an on/off button on equipment?

rather than add multiples of the item, you can just add custom attacks to the character sheet, which is the design for such scenarios.
With regards to something like sharpshooter, I agree that it would be nice to have an additional box for a static attack modifier, where it would be possible to enter a value, such as -5.
Can you put Lucky in the Actions somewhere? All, Other, or Limited Use.

Nice.
The currency management is very tidy.

@Red_Enigma, if you create a magical item that grants that spell, it should be exempt from spell slot use.

This is brilliant!
Just noticed that now the Improved Pact Blade invocation is adding the +1 to attack and damage. You guys rock !
I think AL compliance is on their to-do list but no idea how far down.
Haha it was being brought up just about once a page. Must have been high priority... seems like half their userbase are bladelocks
