I would really like to see a level up helper screen that prompts you to carry out all the fundamental level up tasks. Especially choosing which class to level up (defaulting to the last one you picked?), and rolling for HP!
This will come as part of the character builder overhaul that will begin soon.
Some people like to "build ahead", right up to level 20. Is that something that we could do in the new builder, without it affecting the current character? Then, if you level up mid-session, your build-ahead choices can just be applied without any extra work to keep the game flowing.

When I actually play a character, I usually build a lvl 1 version of my characters, then a lvl 20, and then level then raise the level 1, one level at a time recording the progression to ensure I can end where I want but also end up with a "leveling guide" so when I level I can look at my sheet and have and Idea of what I want for quickly upgrading. The idea of setting up something like this so I could just click "level up via record" or something would be awesome!! However, I would recommend a "changes preview, alter, and confirm" pop up showing changes and allowing you to change option, because while I use this method I often find that changes in campaign and my personal knowledge often have me tweaking things as I actually implement new levels.
That may be a lot to expect in the next overhaul jump.

The lack of inflection in text means that a reader of any post adds their own inflection as they "verbalize" it in their head. I write long and repetitive in an effort to be clear and avoid my intent from being skewed or inverted. I am also bad at examples. It is common for people to skim my posts pull out the idea they think I mean or want to argue against or focus on my bad example instead of the point I am actually trying to make. I apologies for the confusion my failure to be clear and concise creates.

Not necessarily looking for a reply from Badeye, he is a busy man. But is it known if their will be any major character sheet revisions as part of the builder overhaul or will those still be handled in separate small updates as they get ready?

I thought they'd already made it pretty clear that we're not going back to how things were.
But, in this case, I'd really like it if the exported sheet fit the standard character sheet format, or even one of the slightly modified ones. Why does it have to be all screwed around with? I get that the old format of the D&DBeyond "sheet" has changed, for better or worse, but now I have another thing to re-learn how to read in a hurry. . .
.... Wow. So, for the first time since the update, I tried to export a character sheet. What a mess. Ugh.
I am so disappointed with these changes.
Being more specific about the problems would help the developers' team fix them.
Not the same guy, but I wonder if he's opening the character sheet in a different PDF viewing software. I get drastically different results when looking at the exported PDF in Adobe Reader vs. a software called Bluebeam that we use at my work. See below. I'm not sure if the PDF format can be modified to work better with multiple softwares? Not really an issue since Adobe Reader is free, but some people might have a really bad looking character sheet if they use a different program.
I'm not sure if this has already been said (I didn't want to read through 79 pages of posts, lol), but I'd really love the option to open a second side window. Like, maybe when you 'pin' a window, the next one that is opened is actually a new one on the other side of the screen, so you can have two open at once. I use the character sheet on a 1080p screen (as I'm sure many people do), and there is more than enough room on the opposite side for another side window. This would be really useful, so one side could be used for reference for commonly used features/spells/whatever, and the other could be used when you need to look something up just once, or use one of the interactions (limited use stuff, exhaustion, etc.)
Otherwise, I love the new layout, I'm so happy to not have to scroll to find things anymore. The attacks/actions window is a bit complex, but at least knowing everything is in that specific pane is helpful.
Oh, one other thing... why are character profile pictures the only resource loaded from an insecure url? :/
While I understand how this new layout is popular with people more familiar with the classic D&D style, the new layout and excessive amount of plain white space makes it really hard for me to read anything. It's not even a matter of finding where things are, more that I have trouble focusing on the things I'm reading as it is not friendly on the eyes at all. I only have very mild vision issues, so I can't imagine what the experience would be like for other people with more severe sight issues.
While it may not have been popular, the chunkier / 3D app-esk design was much easier to use and read and it would be amazing to be able to have it as an option to toggle back to, or if updates were done to help readability.

As we have shared several times in this thread and others, the old format will not be available for a variety of reasons. What we have asked is that folks share feedback about what kinds of issues they have with the new format and we will assess and address as needed.
It sounds like your specific issue is the amount of white space, which is something we can take a look at. It would help us if you have suggestions for how to make that better for you - i.e. allow the background color of the boxes to be changed, night mode, etc.
I have a request regarding spell scrolls. I have a couple of first level spell scrolls, but they are different spells. However, there is not an easy way to notate what those spells are currently. I can change the name, or add to notes, but neither of those options are perfect for each scenario, and neither one adds the spells as available to use in my spell list (like other items do).
I think it would be awesome when adding a spell scroll that it would allow you to pick the spell name from a drop down under customize. If you use this option, it would then add that spell as a one time use to your spell list, so it was there with all of your other spells (with +hit, and DC, damage info, etc). Bonus if the spell list is filtered to the class/level, but I don't think that's a requirement, though it would need to be sure that a spell from another class isn't added to the available spells list if it isn't from their class.
Additionally, I think it would be helpful if spell scrolls of the same level did not stack in your equipment (similarly to how daggers do not stack for example). That way, at least the problem of noting which scrolls are which spells is helped even if we don't have the ability to pick from a list.
Why a fixed height? That's really the main issue I have currently. It feels as though there's a "cool trick" you are doing in the background to generate the background frame SVGs or something. I would much prefer to allow those to grow to the height of whatever they want to be.
If I want a static height view, I'd rather print it or have an option to enable / disable it.

just a thought, maybe there could be an export option with XML or JSON or whatever vs a PDF. then there could be a small ecosystem that takes the beyond data and can output PDF, Excel or whatever based on that data... I can't imagine there isn't already an intermediary format like one of those.
Please don’t change the character builder!! It’s brilliant the way it is... I love leveling up my character outside the actual character sheet and having it in a convinent and logical flow.
Its excellent the way it takes you through the creation of a character and it’s layout is really user-friendly. I would hate for you guys to remove this feature.

I am sure the improvements to the character builder will be just as 'good' as the character sheet.

If I remember correctly, they did say that other sheet templates are in the plans. I imagine the standard one will be one of those templates.
