Can we get the font size for the PDF increased so it is easier for those of us with bad vision to see?
PDF forms are notoriously limited in what you can achieve and I think Curse has done an admirable job so far. Your best bet for the time being may be to print at A3, the type should render crisply at any size.
So we played with the new sheet for the first time tonight! It was fun, but one big glaring issue became obvious: AC needs to be seen at all times, or at LEAST be present in the Actions and Spells panel as well.
3 of my players are spellcasters, and use lots of non attack spells during combat. So, they are on the actions panel and spells panel far more often than anywhere else. My 4th is a monk, who also spends more time on the actions panels than anywhere else, using their ki features. I could see and hear my players becoming frustrated about the difficulty of getting to the AC when they were attacked (or to saves, honestly) because it would take them out of what they were planning, or become more cumbersome.
These players all use tablets, so they were used to seeing the desktop version while playing. While they all loved the character sheet when they viewed them on home computers, they definitely became frustrated tonight using the mobile version. It made it more difficult as a DM trying to keep the energy and positivity up so we could all have a fun night. :( I think they may try to paper print out next game, which sucks for me since I like being able to see their sheets in game (with an autorefresher).
I'll be a player with the tablet sheet for the first time tomorrow, so I'll see if my familiarity with the new sheet will make it easier on me or if I have the same frustrations.
I'll just say while I'm sitting here getting the sand out of my hair that the tablet experience you mention won't be the tablet experience much longer.
AC will be omnipresent on mobile and 1024 and above (iPad landscape) will get (more or less) desktop views. Those are two changes are clear for us and will come soon - just trying to parse some more of the feedback to see what else to include in that iteration.
Back to night-hunt for crabs!
As much as I appreciate it, you aren't supposed to be here!! Enjoy your darn vacation, you'll get more than enough of us when you return... :P
Just started using beyond, a few things I've noticed.
the Mounts & Vehicles don't list carrying capacity, and the vehicles ADD weight to your carrying capacity, instead of adding to your capacity. . Seems like that kind of information should be easily accessible.
When adding items, if you search for it, and then click the search button, the previous search should come up in the window already searched.
I love how attunement was handled.
The active items checkbox is great.
When generating stats an option for rolling your stats using the most common methods would be very nice.
Is there a way that a DM can restrict options when a character is built? i.e. if the campaign doesn't have a specific race/class/background etc.?
the Equipment/gold selection doesn't seem to carry over from the builder to the sheet.
For race selection, and class selection, the information for each race should pop up on the right, the window with the X makes it very clunky to read up on the different options.
and, now I've realized that I've gone past the scope of the thread. oops!
While on any website, press Ctrl+Shift+I (Chrome/Firefox) to open the Developer Console. You can there change the styles associated with the page you are viewing in the Style Editor (refreshing the page will return it normal). There are several ways to copy-paste the CSS styling, but you might want to play around with each of them first to see if you notice a correct change for your viewing size (all depends on your resolution, etc.).
If you want to print some of it, you could save the actual HTML (there are good browser add-ons for this), and edit the CSS accordingly.
Not to throw more confusion onto the pile, but I really like the tablet view.
I've got a mid size 2-in-1, 12.3 inch display, and I've been using it portrait, and it shows everything on each page beautifully. Sure, I'd like some tweaks. For example, Putting the Attacks into the Actions tab, and then putting each type of action as subheadings under Combat. That way you have your HP, AC, and Initiative as a single banner, and underneath you have actions and attacks, bonus actions, reactions, and other. Put spells into that list as well and you've slimmed it down to a single combat menu. Bit complicated to explain, but I haven't the photoshop skill to mock one up.
It seems like I'm in the minority in liking the tablet sheet but I can see how it would be a annoying on smaller tablets, or in landscape where you have to scroll.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
A large number of people are polarized by the character sheet update. Several posts have suggested a simple solution to this problem:
Offer the original version of the character sheet and the new version, give people the choice of which to use
This solves all the problems. Those that enjoy the new layout are welcome to migrate over. Those that bought into DNDBeyond for the clarity and ease-of-use of the original design don't feel as if their investment in the site was wasted. Plus, they will stay on as customers going into the future. It's easy to miss the fact that the people on this forum are the most engaged in the platform, and psychologically more inclined to be overly supportive for the sake of being supportive. The reality is that there's a massive contingent of people that won't take the time to post to this forum and those people are the ones that are most likely to walk out the door once they see the new design. Even an unbiased party would have to admit - it's jarring for someone to log in and see their whole world has drastically changed. These are the people that we'll never hear from, but my guess is they'll represent the majority. Rather than see them leave, wouldn't it be wise (Wisdom check here) to offer them the option to retain the original design? That way DNDBeyond doesn't miss out on revenue that keeps the site operational?
I ran the new design by the group that I play with (none of which checked this forum). The response was universal - everyone hated the new character sheet. To give it the benefit of the doubt, I tried - honestly tried - to get used to it and make it work over the 4th of July. I spent a lot of time with it and, rather than have that "ah ha" moment where I got used to the new layout, only became more frustrated. For all the reasons that everyone has already mentioned. The end result? Everyone in our game is switching to paper sheets. Paper sheets! We're not talking about a couple minor areas of inconvenience or frustration. The entire group was so polarized at clicking 3 - 5 times to get to what they need, with the critical information now hidden on half a dozen different pages, that we are abandoning the use of the site entirely.
Again, it doesn't have to be like this. A simple toggle switch would allow a user to use the "Advanced" character sheet (new one) or the "Classic" design (old one). This solves everyone's grievances and allows us to march forward, merrily, with everyone's needs getting met.
DNDBeyond staff - can you respond to this request?
BadEye has already responded to this and said it’s impossible to offer both versions due to a number of factors, primarily the change in the underlying code and that the new additions cannot fit in the old UI. It is extremely unlikely this will happen.
*Edit for autocorrect adding punctuation I didn’t want.
I greatly enjoy the new sheet, but here's another suggestion for improvement:
Make class + archetype/subclass more visible
(Right now, you have class(es) under character name, but it'd be great to have the archetype also clearly visible somewhere-- for example in the black space above Wisdom and Charisma score on the desktop page)
*Then*, when you click on the class, the sidebar opens with the full list of (unlocked) class features (there is no way currently to view the full list of class features in the sidebar, only separate features).
I know the features are listed under CLASS FEATURES in the lower right box, but on a desktop, it's much easier to peruse all class features on the sidebar than to scroll the smaller window at the bottom. Also, if you multiclass and you're high level, you have to scroll quite a bit to see all the features of the various classes. By making class + subclass visible at the top of the sheet and making each class "clickable", then you see relevant features in one single click (opening the sidebar), with little scrolling.
Another option would be to add separate class tabs under CLASS FEATURES in the current lower right FEATURES & TRAITS box and showing the relevant features when you click on a tab.
Example:
CLASS FEATURES | FEATS | RACIAL TRAITS ALL | FIGHTER ARCANE ARCHER | WARLOCK THE FIEND | ROGUE
There's a lot of repetition both in the character sheet and class descriptions on the class pages. These repetitions aren't present in the PHB. In the class descriptions, things like the ranger have massive amounts of text repeated, entirely unnecessarily, for their favoured enemy feature for instance. Here's an example in the character sheet of pointless, redundant information:
We only need to know that Destroy Undead can destroy creatures up to the CR of the current progression. People really don't need five separate entries for each progression of the ability. It just crowds an already small area and requires more scrolling.

The one thing missing that I'd like to see is that any "other possessions" do not show up anywhere on the exported sheet. I'm not going to go through the effort of creating custom items for all of the random non-magical stuff (hides, teeth, rocks, etc) that my players pick up so that it shows up on their character sheets.
Sneak attack damage is currently not listed on the combat tab nor the Actions tab. It would be helpful to have 2D6 Sneak Attack (or similar) listed up there. For now I'll add a custom attack

I know this is the bug thread but ATM I don't have any bugs to report. I did want to go on record with a "nice work" post. I see lots of bugs reported and several unhappy posters so I wanted to put my experience out there.
My group doesn't check these forums or the site really so on the day of release we had our game and I told them all about the change and that it will take some time to get used to it. We played through our session without any issues/bugs stopping us. No one complained about the changes and more than one person commented that they liked it better.
At our table of 9 players, 5 players use DDB on mobile or tablet, one uses the exported sheet (he was very pleased). So nice job Devs, and great job with the many quick bug fixes I've seen reported. Still happy to say that out of my own 15 or so PCs on DDB I have not hit any snags.
Carry on.

Any chance of adding a checkbox counter to the Waterskin? Four, one for each pint, should do.

I forgot to mention that the extension I use is this one:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-javascript-and-css/nbhcbdghjpllgmfilhnhkllmkecfmpld
I also added an additional item in the above script which fixes a bug in the original version.
This extension also let me inject the following JavaScript: (You have to go into options and enable JavaScript and jQuery to use it)
(function() {
$(window).scroll(function() {
$('.ct-sidebar__inner').attr('style', 'top: '+Math.max(0,217 - $(document).scrollTop())+'px !important;');
});
$(document).click(function() {
$(window).scroll();
});
$(document).mousemove(function() {
$(window).scroll();
});
})();

That's a shame - I very much preferred the older sheet. Easier to read, easier to see what abilities and spells you have available...
I'll get used to the new one, I'm sure, but it's very much a step back, in my opinion.
Changes are always difficult, but as they've said, they'll continue to listen to feedback and make improvements.
