New request with tagging - is there a way to also provide shortened tags? allowing me to use S instead of spell in the square brackets? Shortened versions could be S for Spell, C for Condition, M for monster, MI for Magic Item, Se for Sense (of SP for Spell and S for Sense). This still allows for I for item, Cl for Class, and so on.
Currently having to type out the tag (especially when doing a lot of tagging) is time consuming. There is also no quick tag function from the toolbar.

I think the focal point here is the toolbar addition; perhaps with a drop down to choose and insert starting/ending brackets. Give it a little time, as this is a new feature of itself to the boards. Ease of use is of importance!

That is the end goal for adding in tool-tips is to have custom plugins for the editor where you can select an item/spell/monster/etc. and it will auto insert the tag and name for you. Definitely on our list.
I typically set up my DM adventure notes in a Google Doc and this would be amazing to have there. Would it be possible to have this functionality built into a Chrome extension that will let these tooltips exist elsewhere on the internet? I know similar things are done with video game tooltips.
Wait...will there eventually be a place where I can create my homebrew adventures on this site? Then my need to use Docs would disappear.

Yes, we will definitely syndicate the links/ tooltips where they can be used on other sites.
When linking from other sites, wouldn't you just be able to use HTML?
I was setting up my latest encounter in Obsidian Portal, and I was delighted to find I could just link to the individual spell or monster pages by linking to that spell's URL.
If I want to link to a giant spider, I can just link to this URL:

And it'll link there. Isn't that easier than creating a chrome extension or some other kind of non-standard system of doing links?
You can definitely link directly as you're doing. What I'm referring to is you'll be able to have it appear like this giant spider (with the tooltip on hover) even on other sites.
Love this feature, especially not having played D&D for a long time and just getting back into it, this tool tip feature helps in getting a quick lookup for something you might have forgotten or need clarification.

Hey, this tagging is a very cool feature, but I miss the attack/actions part of a monster.
This seems pretty awesome!

Great feature!

That's really excellent news, BadEye.
Such a useful tool - it'll make a lot of communication so much faster!
