A few questions, probably answered before but I can't seem to find them.
1: When One D&D drops in September, will our 5e characters be altered to feature the new rules or remain the same?
2: If they remain the same, will we be able to continue to advance them as we can now, or be locked until we do some conversion to the new rules?
3: If we can continue to advance them, will we still be able to make new characters using the 2014 5e ruleset, or will we need to have all new characters going forward follow the 2024 One D&D ruleset?
4: If we can create new characters using the 5e ruleset, can another player in the party use the One D&D ruleset at the same time for their character, or will all characters in a campaign need to be using the same ruleset?
Like I said, I'm sure either these answers have already been answered, in which case sources would be appreciated.

1: When One D&D drops in September, will our 5e characters be altered to feature the new rules or remain the same? I have no plans on purchasing the updated ruleset. They better not force these changes on my existing characters
2: If they remain the same, will we be able to continue to advance them as we can now, or be locked until we do some conversion to the new rules? Just because I'm not going to upgrade, turning off the agility to utilize the biggest tool on the site would be silly
3: If we can continue to advance them, will we still be able to make new characters using the 2014 5e ruleset, or will we need to have all new characters going forward follow the 2024 One D&D ruleset? Still the same answer. I've spent over a thousand dollars on this product and maintain an active subscription. There's gonna be riots if they say day 1 that I'm out of luck if I don't upgrade.
4: If we can create new characters using the 5e ruleset, can another player in the party use the One D&D ruleset at the same time for their character, or will all characters in a campaign need to be using the same ruleset? This should be something decided by each and every DM, not dictated down to us from the wotc overlords.
It would be asinine for a business to tell it's users: upgrade or you can't use our product you've been paying for for years.
A few questions, probably answered before but I can't seem to find them.
1: When One D&D drops in September, will our 5e characters be altered to feature the new rules or remain the same?
They can't automatically alter them. Not all the subclasses exist, there's often homebrew, the decisions you would've made would change, etc.
Also, they want you to buy the new books. They're not gonna give you the new classes for free.
2: If they remain the same, will we be able to continue to advance them as we can now, or be locked until we do some conversion to the new rules?
Do you really think they're going to break all the existing campaigns for everyone that hasn't bought the new books, or wants to finish their old campaigns first?
3: If we can continue to advance them, will we still be able to make new characters using the 2014 5e ruleset, or will we need to have all new characters going forward follow the 2024 One D&D ruleset?
Seems very unlikely they'll force you to use the new rules. If they effectively took away everybody's old books, that would not go well for their desire to sell them new books.
4: If we can create new characters using the 5e ruleset, can another player in the party use the One D&D ruleset at the same time for their character, or will all characters in a campaign need to be using the same ruleset?
This one's probably up to the DM, though there may be technical limitations.
(I'm not sure that the mechanical changes we know about actually change anything at the DDB level of rules implementation, anyway.)
Like I said, I'm sure either these answers have already been answered, in which case sources would be appreciated.
They've been extremely not forthcoming on how DDB's going to work post-transition, but most of the more extreme scenarios don't hold up well if you look at them from the perspective of "what makes sense from a business standpoint?"
While I'm working to get a clear answer on how these books will integrate with each other, I can offer an anecdote from my own character list that isn't quite one-to-one but might offer some insight: I had a few kobold characters that were created pre-Monsters of the Multiverse. When that book was released and the Kobold was reprinted as a species, all of my kobolds made with the version printed Volo's Guide to Monstersgained the Legacy tag.
Like I said, not quite one-to-one, but I imagine something similar will happen.

Yeah, that’s pretty much what most of us suspect. What I’m curious about is, since books like Xanathar’s Guide & Tasha’s Cauldron have subclasses for all the main classes, and since almost half of those classes are seeing some pretty significant changes regarding what features they get at which levels (most notably the cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlock, and wizard), and since the new books are supposedly sposta specifically work with those older sourcebooks (especially X’s & T’s), how’s that all gonna jive? Namean? Because I gotta tell ya, myself and a shedload of other people are holding off on purchasing any of the newer products until we have a clearer idea on that subject. That’s a lot of money WotC is leaving on the table. If I knew how those interactions were sposta be handled, I’da pro’ly already preordered the core three in digital format. That’s $90 that WotC isn’t getting paid because that hasn’t been discussed other than to handwave it away as “compatible.” And there are literally thousands of people who are similarly holding onto their ducats for the exact same reason. One solid announcement with an explicit example to grasp would undoubtedly loosen a lot of wallets. Something you might want to pass up the ladder.

Sure some, but not a lot. You’re earning that trust, and so I’m talking to you. I don’t trust easy, and even less these days than I used to, so please take it as a most sincere compliment.

Sure, I’ll do my best. Long dreads or short? There are only so many options available for dreads though, so if it’s not quite right I’ll only be able to do so much to tweak it for you.
I tried to make her look like your avatar. Truth be told, getting the hair to come outright looking like your avatar’s was the tricky part. lol I had to overlay two different figures with a mirrored pose on top of each other just to get her hair like that. One for the side braids and one for the bushy curls, and then distorted their head shapes and dimensions to make them look right overlapped like that.
Since her hairdo is no longer a focal point drawing attention to her face, and since I was already departing from the aesthetic of your current avatar, I took a few liberties. I hope you don’t mind. I added the tiara and the earrings to give me a excuse to break the otherwise relatively monochrome color pallet and create that focal point another way. I also embellished her eye makeup a bit, but not a lot, and I darkened her eye color a bit and adjusted the aim of her gaze so that instead of looking down, now she’s looking out at the viewer. Finally I darkened her hair a tinge and added some lowlights and highlights for her. A know shorter dreads in an updo would be more practical for battle, but I went for the longer ones because it feels like they suit you better from the tone of your posts. Oh, and while I was at it I figured, “what the heck?” So I also added some subtle patterning to her skirt and cape. What do you think? More “you,” or should I make any more adjustments?
dang, that's so freakin' cool. <3 i do have long locs, so that was freaking perfect.

Ahh, cool. I’m glad I guessed right. How about the jewelry? That okay by you too? Do you have a subscription to HF? If not I can do a custom pose for you and send you an image, but if you have a subscription I could send you the link to the mini and you could save it to your collection. Unfortunately though, without a sub it won’t display properly for you due to some of the facial detailing I used being subscriber only features.
So just making sure I get this straight, for now the consensus is "Don't worry about it, all the 2014 stuff will likely just get a 'Legacy' tag and be usable business as usual otherwise. Players will also likely be able to have both, for example, a 'Legacy Druid' and a '2014' Druid in the same campaign, just as they can have 'Legacy' Kobolds and 'MToF' Kobolds," until otherwise stated, correct?

Posting in this thread to make myself feel better about this possible issue pertaining to purchasing the digital copy of the new edition of PHB that I'm slightly apprehensive about.
Also, thank you, LaTiaJacquise, for all you do to get us correct information.
I'm not sure I trust wizards to do right by D&d.What I hear about one d&d doesn't impress me. A bunch of us are still waiti8ng to hear why they discontinued al-carte purchases without any warning whatsoever. If they aren't going to be honest by us on that, why should be trust them at all? And now it seems a bunch of posts in the thread discussing it have been deleted, which doesn't exactly inspire me to trust them.
