Homebrew feats, races, subclasses, etc will be post-release, unfortunately. So we'll have to wait a bit before we begin populating homebrew with those goodies.
Would love to see the ability to edit the code to add a short rest or long rest ability.
Some thing like <short rest>ability</short rest>
That way you can home brew your own abilities and feats in the notes field or something like that and you can use the clickable short rest and long rest buttons. Just an idea for what I would hope would be something small and fun to add.
I noticed in the monsters listing that they also give what, for lack of a better word, campaign they come from. Certain monsters come from the "Basic Rules' while others come the "Monster Manual" and others come from I don't even know where, extra sources. I was wondering if homebrew content could have a similar feature. That way, not only by sorting of author, we could know what creatures go with what. I am in the process of creating multiple creatures that all fit into a story. Could we have homebrew "campaigns?" That way multiple authors could work together to create multiple things for one "set," and then users could search specifically all things in that "set." Campaigns aren't the right word and I'm not sure set is either, but a "source" of sorts like the "Basic Rules" or the "Volos Guide to Monsters."

I love the idea of DDBers collaborating on adventure/campaign/setting material. I have no idea how that could be officially implemented, but you could always add a tag with the name of whatever adventure/campaign/setting everyone is collaborating on as a work around for now. That way you could just search for the tag to get those monsters/items/spells.
Can DMs Guild content creators art be used for homebrew here? I'm talking about the freely available art that WotC posted for DMs Guild products.
Currently, the answer is no, due to the posted copyright conditions:
...you are licensed to use in content submitted to the Dungeon Masters Guild program and published under the Community Content Agreement for the DMs Guild program. You are not licensed to use the art for any other purpose. All art owned by Wizards of the Coast.
I'm hoping that the staff team can come to an agreement with WotC where the art from Creator Resources can be used, as some of it is really good.
Apologies if this has been addressed here (I couldn't specifically find it with a targeted search) or elsewhere, but wouldn't the "filter by author" function assist in allowing the community to select useful/balanced/favor-appropriate homebrew while sidestepping the potentially negative aspects of permitting community feedback? If you find that randomusername6969 produces thoughtful, well-balanced magic items and spells, you can filter the homebrew compendiums to isolate their creations and avoid Aaaaaaaaaimfirst111!1's Wand of Farts I-MCLVXII.
Obviously, this will take some browsing time for individual users, but I think that browsing, filtering, and word-of-mouth can probably do the work of a community selection system until a better idea comes along. I think moderator recommendations would probably enhance the effectiveness of this system considerably ("DNDBeyond's Homebrew Bestiary" - a monthly series of articles highlighting a homebrewed creature or two and ultimately producing a 12-18 creature annual compendium of monsters, or something?).

Oh, yes, please. There are already too many public homebrew sources for my tastes. I'd like to be able to permanently blacklist (and whitelist) by author.
I had a blast tinkering with the monster creation but there is one small thing that bothered me. Is it possible to list the "spells known" of a monster in such a way that when you hover over the hyperlink it creats a pop up window, the same way it does with default monsters? Right now I have to click on the hyperlink to view the spell.

Yup! It'll be done the same way it's done in the forums. [ Spell]Spell Name[ /spell]

When Editing a homebrew item, Any Modifiers added will automatically be False in the "Requires Attunement" column.
I can't find a way to change this to "True" when editing the modifiers.
Good catch, thanks!
There is a "Requires attunement" field on the edit screen for each of those modifiers, but it isn't visible for you.
I'll notify the staff of this.
I want to point this one out again, as it's been almost a month and this is still an issue (trying to create new items and just came across it myself, did a search and found this).

A feature that me and my group would love is a way to "overwrite" official rules with homebrew ones. - So that we can include them in one glossary. For example, we homebrewed two-weapon-fighting and it would be very cool to have the option to edit the original text so that it matches our homebrew and we find our text when someone from our group searches for "two-weapon-fighting". It would be even better if that edit would be in a different textcolor or something, showing that it is an edit.
Will we be able to make home brew/custom backgrounds?
Yes that is defiantly planned, however unsure if it will be included in launch or after.
on the current character builder you can adjust any one the current backgrounds, as they are just suggestions, to an extent and it has also been said that they will also bring in a custom background creator directly to the character sheet, however also unsure when that is scheduled

Had a quick search but couldn't find this feedback:
When creating a homebrew monster, it would be very useful to be able to use an existing homebrew monster as a template.
