I'm seeing some disappointment that it's a Feywild Adventure not a sourcebook. I think it they do it on the Scale of Avernus or Rime of the Frostmaiden, and wedge in some character options, I can see it being s sort of double duty adventure/sourcebook. Strixhaven was talked about as a possibility on this board before. I was sort of "meh" about what I've seen of it, but I guess WotC does have that MtG synergy mandate. Folks are also "what about three classic worlds" ... let's remember that comment was made about hardbacks appearing of the next two years. Plenty of time in 2022 to get Dragonlance or Daurgothoth's Draconic Ditherings (actually no, TM Midnightplat that last one, forthcoming 2023 Headcanon Press).
i suspect it'll be a bit like strahd, it has to be sourcebook-y as there's none out there now....maybe talking about a portion of the feywild
To bad they’re not doing a Draconomicon (I cannot spell that name to save my life), I was really hoping they would do one or a Dragonlance book after the UA draconic stuff. Feywild sounds cool, but I was hoping for a sourcebook, not an adventure, and the "for all ages" thing makes me very skeptical about it now. I’ve never been a M:tG fan, so I’m not gonna get the Curriculum of Chaos.
There's actually another book coming out this year that James Wyatt has been working on, which is probably going to be a Draconomicon book similar to Volo's/Mordenkainen's. It's strange that these two books were leaked, and not the third one, but it is coming out, too.
YES!!! I can’t wait! Maybe they’ll do undead lore in it, too. I was hoping there would be some in VRGtR, but there wasn’t
If it's a dragon-themed book, they're unlikely to do any sort of significant undead lore beyond some new types of dragon undead.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

I was thinking it might be a Mordenkainens/Volos type book with dragons, undead, and a few other types in it.

I sense the route would be more like Mordenkainen's or Volo's, but considering some of this year's releases (including possible ones), they have defied expectations:
The UA has had draconic subclasses, and none of them has ever been printed in a Volo's style guide for 5e.
In terms of naming schemes, we've had Curriculum of Chaos (it doesn't even reference Strixhaven in the title, unlike every other setting book for 5e), Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft (other setting books have been more like Explorer or Wayfinder's Guide to whatever, so calling it Van Richten's Guide is odd), and the Wild Beyond the Witchlight: A Feywild Adventure (the naming convention of which also breaks far from the normal for 5e, especially from recent releases). In fact, the naming scheme of CoC and WBtW is simply railroady!
Mordenkainen's was less well received, and with the torment Tasha's received I doubt they'll do a core book themed like that again for a while. It's a SCAG-style setting guide, mark my words. Your eyes will burn upon the foulness and inequality of the region descriptions!

I'm guessing it will have the finished version of the fey unearthed arcana stuff the put out a while back at the very least.
Saw the full artwork for the Feywild book on Polygon. I don't like the circus (in real life or as a fantasy setting), but what are you gonna do?
I love that Displacer Beast Cover!!
I like the Displacer Beast graphic too and the firefly(?) piece on the back. I can't say I'm completely sold on the yellow-creamy base to the cover.
Question: have the MtG books (Theros, Ravinica) also had game store incentive covers? Or is it just "main D&D" and adventures that get the incentive covers?

Tasha's was the best-selling book in the best-selling year ever for D&D. This forum's reaction to it (or rather the reaction of some of its loudest members) does not in any way reflect the overall reception of the book. For people without any sacred cows about how D&D should be (i.e. new players which is the most heavily targeted demographic for 5e) - Tasha's was a runaway success.
The only thing holding back another Tasha's is their own decisions for the pace of content release. There are absolutely no regrets there by WotC.

Trust but verify....
Do you have stats for how well the book sold? I know they said that Wildmount sold better than almost every other book (sans PHB and DMG) but I heard nothing about Tasha's sales numbers.
I know as a whole they had a good year but I was thinking that was more related to people buying the older books and getting into DnD and not Tasha's....but I could be mistaken.

Just a note - I STILL LIKE TASHA's. I just know a lot of people have gone a bit SCAG-brained over it. SCAG had bad mechanics. Tasha's was just cool!
Just using Amazon, which I know is only one market place, but it's still an indicator, at the time I write this (the figures apparently are update hourly): Tasha's is #4 in 5e sales behind PHB (need to play), Van Richten's (most recent release), and Wild Beyond Witchlight (literally just announced for pre-order), and ahead of the DMG, Monster Manual, then Xanathar's. Candlekeep is 13 after the starter kit, Volos, Essentials, Strixhaven preorder, and a bundled slipcase of the the three core rulebooks.
I'd say current sales strength (I mean, I don't see how you couldn't not know what's in Tasha's at this point) Tasha's place in the D&D market was and is strong. I write that as someone who is "meh" on Tasha's in that I'm hoping it's the last "miscellany of player options" preferring more thematically coherent books like the Ravensloft book. Tasha's was just too much little bits about lots of stuff, and whatever effort they were making to bind it all under the Tasha's rubric was short shrift.

I actually quite like SCAG. Yes, it had some bad mechanics, but I bought it for the lore, and while it could definitely had more of it, the lore it had was quite good. However, everyone's allowed their own opinion.
Honestly when I saw that it was another magic the gathering setting i was unenthused. After seeing the description of the world im actually more interested in the world I would totally buy a school of magic setting and run a game in it.
