Is purchasing the core books with the first week discount and then purchasing the Legendary Bundle feasible?
Absolutely yes.
But there is no benefit to getting the Founder's bundle versus buying the three core books at full price later, if you intend to eventually buy the legendary bundle. The Founder's week discount is a whopping 33% off. However, Legendary bundle discount is only 15% and the FAQ (or the pricing guide) stated that buying the Founder's bundle will only take $60 (3*$20) off the Legendary Bundle price.
Legendary Bundle $280 minus Founder's Bundle $60 = $220 remaining to get the Legendary bundle. You still spent $280 total.
Legendary Bundle $280 minus PHB/DMG/MM after founder's week $90 = $190 remaining. You still spent $280.
The same logic applies to any future content sales. There's no benefit to purchasing content on sale, because you'll pay full price when you opt in to the Legendary Bundle (well, 15% discount, but I'm imagining other content sales will be similar to the Founder's Week sale and be more than 15%)
Might I suggest a special Founder's week price on the Legendary Bundle, as well, that discounts the Legendary Bundle by $90 (the full price of the non-founder's main 3 books) rather than just getting the Founder's Week price discounted from the Legendary Bundle.
Otherwise, there is very little incentive to get the Legendary Bundle, since someone waiting for individual sales would actually pay less (assuming other sales were on the order of the Founder's Week discount).
What type of limitations will there be with users. For example, I plan on getting the legendary bundle and the master subscription. My wife is interested in the app for the character sheets. Will she also need the bundle and a subscription or can she use mine?
If she is in your campaign and you have the DM sub, she really doesn't need to unlock anything or get a subscription. She'll have access to all of your content.
More details on the DM Subscription are going to be announced tomorrow.

So, if they were to discount the Legendary Bundle, the discount should be $5.50 per book since we're making up the difference between the $10 (33.3%) Founders discount and the $4.50 (15%) Legendary Bundle discount. So if they were to do this, the most reasonable way would be to give a Founders Week discount of $16.50 on the Legendary Bundle. That would give your the $4.50 per book discount already included in the bundle price plus the additional $5.50 discount offered by Founders Week ($10 per book total).
I will say however that I think it is reasonable to not do that. The Founders Week discounts on the 3 core books are not really going to lower your eventual cost for the Legendary Bundle, but they lower your up-front cost for trying out a new system. If you do decide to invest in the whole thing later, you end up paying the same as everyone else in total. But if you stick to just the smaller initial investment, you didn't have to pay quite as much to try out the core books. So D&D-wise, it's like giving you the 4th level bonus feat at 1st level. You don't get the feat again at 4th level, but you get to enjoy it earlier on.
-crossing fingers for class and race homebrew options- :)
Love the new pricing stuff. Definitely taking the dive for the Legendary Bundle....after GenCon.
Races and subclasses will be added to homebrew options post-launch, but they are high on the priority list.
While this is excellent to hear, where do full-classes land? I have a few players utilizing DMs Guild classes that just won't be able to use this wonderful tool :(
Full classes are extremely challenging for us to code to anticipate, since they could literally be anything. The existing base classes (especially once the mystic and artificer are out) cover so many character types that we don't see much value in spending months to build out a system that would allow for that kind of customization.
We plan on having some polls on favorite DMs Guild base classes and create the most popular ones for use in D&D Beyond in the future..
Thanks for the info Badeye. Would the subclasses potentially be able to change or remove certain core class features (e.g. a spelless ranger) be a nightmare to code or wreak havoc on the system?
If not, that could be a possible workaround for some home brew classes. I'm thinking about something like the Pugilist class (http://www.dmsguild.com/m/product/184921) which could be a subclass of Monk that switches out the wording of the base class features. Not sure if that would be a nightmare to code or would wreak havoc on the system though.
Thanks again!
*Unrelated: I want to add my voice to the people looking to, down the road, be able to buy the monsters and items from an adventure as part of a package.

The Legendary Bundle is not solely about book content purchases - locking in a forever 15% discount is a big part of the package.
This is great! the Legendary Bundle sounds great, and I'm very glad the pricing is on-going (since I'm likely to be core only day 1, and then full Legendary with my paycheck at the end of the month). But ongoing 15% discount and discounted 6 and 12 month subscriptions? You definitely do aim to please us. Thank you!!
(Plus, what's the incentive to get the Legendary Bundle rather than waiting for sales? Having the books now rather than waiting months or longer hoping for future sales? Trading away uncertainty and a long wait sure seems worth it to me if you want all of the books. And 15% discount on all future purchases is even more lovely.)
The only drawback I see for my personal situation is that the full content wasn't available already since my son's friends just decided TODAY to start D&D and were wondering where they could find all the character options and creation rules online since passing around my 1 copy of the PHB was slowing them down. I pointed them here but had to tell them just one more week and I can unlock all sorts of stuff for them.
But, hey, if you want some computer-savvy but RPG-newbie teenagers to test out the full content a week before launch, you know where to find me. ;)

Am I correct in inferring that the Legendary Bundle is achieved when you purchase all the sourcebooks and adventures? In that case, you could achieve it in the first week by spending only $300 discounted down to $255, instead of $330 discounted down to $280.
Let us know if you have any questions and we'll try to answer them. Expect more details about Master Tier content sharing tomorrow.
We've also got another terribly-exciting announcement that will come later today!
This is awesome, thanks so much!! But Fantasy Grounds is trying to steal your thunder:
SmiteWorks is working alongside Wizards of the Coast to significantly lower the cost of entry for Dungeons & Dragons players looking to play online with the FantasyGrounds virtual tabletop. While the project has been a major success, both partners would like it to be even more successful. The prices for official D&D content for FantasyGrounds will be reduced on August 15, 2017 as part of an initiative to increase new player adoption. Modules which previously cost $49.99 will now be $29.99. Large adventure modules will now be $24.99. Existing customers will benefit in lower prices on all newly released content.

No thunder stolen - it's been shared.
We (I personally, not to put too fine a point on it) fought hard to get costs this low for the content. WotC has listened, and now all the partners have the opportunity to provide the adjusted pricing.
D&D Beyond offers different things than FG, and should attract different kinds of players. There's room for everyone, and a rising tide raises all ships.

Since there is no other product to buy, and the subscription payments don't apply, how would one go about paying another $25 during the first week? May I suggest changing it so you're not punishing your early buyers?

What about actual classes, not just subclasses? My players are cool with moving to 5e but want to be able to recreate their 4e classes. I'd also like to be able to bring my DMG classes into DDB.
This one was addressed, due to the complexity and ability to have a class do anything that won't be in the homebrew creator. BadEye did mention that they would likely be doing polls on what classes from DMGuild are most wanted and try to add those classes in the future.
Ouch. That actually kills most of the use I would have gotten out of this tool. Damn, too bad. I was looking forward to it, too. Thanks for the information.

That's pretty passive aggressive!
Those are our current plans. If there is enough demand within the community for base classes, we could determine to undertake the effort.

You're not being punished, you're just not getting the extra 15% off on future purchases for buying an unintended workaround. As Badeye stated:
The Legendary Bundle is not solely about book content purchases - locking in a forever 15% discount is a big part of the package.
Therefore if you want the Legendary Bundle benefits, buy the Legendary Bundle. If you just want the cheapest price available for books next Tuesday, then do what you're suggesting. If you want to only buy books on sale, buy the founders week package and wait until the next sale occurs to buy anything.

There would be the Legendary Bundle left to buy, with all your previously-purchased content credit applied.
We don't consider a good thing (a lifetime 15% discount for all official digital content purchases) punishment. The Legendary Bundle isn't for everyone. Like everything with our pricing model, we are simply trying to offer a flexible option.

"Punishing your early buyers"??? What?
The Legendary Bundle only exists because people asked for it. Adding in a perpetual 15% discount was icing on the cake.
It's simple. you can get a 33% discount on the core books. Or you can get a 15% discount on everything forever. Both sounds like really great deals and it's a really bizarro view to see those as actual *punishments*. Would having a "Founders Legendary SuperMega Bundle" be better? Sure, but "punishment" because you *only* get 15% off everything forever? Um... I think an Inigo Montoya quote might be relevant here. ;)
If she is in your campaign and you have the DM sub, she really doesn't need to unlock anything or get a subscription. She'll have access to all of your content.
