My DM let me create some sweet Gauntlets out of blue dragon scales as a reward for taking one down, and he is flavoring them as not interfering with my unarmed strikes as a monk. These are the alpha version.
My problem is, because there is no "gauntlet" weapon, I have to classify it as a club or other monk weapon to equip it. Is there a way to make it a magical item instead of a weapon, and still be able to equip it and see the damage bonus ect?
You could make a Wondrous Item (instead of a weapon) that adds tose feature to your unarmed strikes.
I thought that would work, but I tried it and it doesn’t. I think you might be stuck with the club. Don’t worry that’s not the worst thing in the world. Eventually they will get around to letting us create our own non-magical homebrewed weapons though.
I had the same issue with my unarmed rune knight. So I went to the homebrew tab and re-worded the Eldridge claw tattoo to make what I call Runic Gauntlets. Cause it's an item I had more flexibility in editing the damage output than I would with the homebrew weapon section.

Magic items cannot have actions attached to them right now, unless it's a weapon, in which case it uses that weapon's stats.
Other options would be a custom action, or a feat. You can add feats outside of normal progression with the Manage Feats button.

To be honest, that last line bout “proficiency with a club blah blah blah....” won’t even show up on the character sheet anyway.
