Utar looks to Rag and shrugs "Payment for services rendered?" Looking towards the other items he nods, "I think there's a cloak for you too."
Moving back into the main tunnel, Utar glances back over his shoulder towards the group, "I'll be here keeping an eye out. Let me know if the scroll is divine in origin and I'll take a look."
Neya hesitates for a moment, then responds, "I am from a clan that has been around for... a long time. Long enough to make more than a few unhappy with our existence, so we need to be careful about who knows about us. Brother Keefe is one a privileged few individuals and entities to know who and where our contacts are, a list that constantly changes. I first met him when he commissioned us for information acquisition and a few times after for deliveries. This is the first time he asked me to do something a little more involved. The matter with this crypt had him very concerned, but now seems to foreshadow something worse."
"Plenty of foreshadowing going on in Phlan of late. The Welcomers keeping tabs on dragon eggs. Kuo Toa hunting for remnants of ancient dragon cults. Now a subterranean lair accessed through the grave site of a green dragon..."
Utar trails off, concerned at the recent goings on now he comes to think of them. "Dark times indeed, it sounds like your people might be handy in a pinch."
Rag responds to Utar "Uh - Oh - Yeh - Right " He places the gem into his hip pouch and begins examine the cloak. "Let me see if this is something useful."
Asley: You study the carvings on the staff and wave it back and forth. Some of the carvings light up as you move the staff with some intent and a bird's call can be heard a few feet ahead of you. This is, without a doubt, a Staff of Birdcalls.
Cato: You quickly unravel the Spell Scroll. It is decorated at the margins with dragon-themed drawings and words written in Common that detail how to cast a spell called Comprehend Languages. Unfortunately, this is one of the spell that relies on understanding the arcane arts, and you are not well-suited to make good use of this scroll (OOC: At this point, I believe Asley is the only party member that could use the scroll).
Graxx: The scabbard is functional for now, but soon won't be. Good thing it's not magical like the sword. The weapon is ancient, but well made. Your shaman has mentioned in the past the existence of metal that has been blessed with moonlight. This must be what they were talking about, a Moon-touched Sword, Greatsword.
Rag: The cloak was definitely made for a small creature and looks like it would fit you well. Unlike the other items here, it does not look like time had much of an effect on this garment. After putting it on, you notice it changes colors and appearance. While experimenting with it, you learn this is a Cloak of Many Fashions.
Neya: At Utar's urging, you spend some time looking closely at one of the bows being held by a skeleton. A few minutes is all it takes to notice they are not magical, but that the wood has been somehow petrified. They should function as normal shortbows.
Other than learning about your new items and getting a chance to relax a bit, the hour of rest goes by uneventfully (Please take the discussion on who is keeping what item to the OOC chat. If you guys don't claim them, I'll pass them around as it seems most beneficial and/or fair to the party. Fair?).
Cato, having examined the scroll, says to Asley "Alsey, my friend, through our conversation so far, I am given to understand that you are trained in the arcane arts, am I right? If so, you may find this more useful than I." I hand him the scroll.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
IRL: Dungeon Master--Adventures in the Cassitana Islands PbP: Player--Esvaris Liadon, Wood Elf Monk 2/Cleric 2--Clerical Heirs: A Divine Mystery
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Neya: as you re-approach the closest skeleton wielding a shortbow (moving to G25), you look over their backs in search of quivers. Four of the skeletons, (the four closest to the throne) have such items, each with two or three arrows. When you try to pry one of the bows, you feel some resistance. Bones snap as the owner of the bow turns to face you. His friends have also become active once you try to desecrate their rest.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rag reacts first, instinctively letting an arrow loose from his shortbow. The arrow travels with pinpoint accuracy, hitting Bow-Skeleton#3 at the base of the cranium. Bones dismantle, no longer posing a threat (cumulative damage to Bow-Skeleton#3: 14 -> DEAD). Rag then moves back a bit (D22), breaking the line of sight with the enemies and hiding behind the wall (OOC: unless a skeleton goes actively looking for you, you can consider yourself hidden until your next turn as your roll beats their passive perception. I'll let you know if this changes).
SWORD-SKELETONS' TURN:
The Sword-Skeletons will act instinctively and attack the closest targets they can see, closing distances as needed.
Sword-Skeleton#1 shortsword (melee weapon attack) vs. Cato: Attack: 11Damage: 4 piercing. Hits your dragon scale shield.
Sword-Skeleton#2 shortsword (melee weapon attack) vs. Drazzim: Attack: 18 Damage: 3 piercing. Nicks your arm.
Sword-Skeleton#3 shortsword (melee weapon attack) vs. Neya: Attack: 7Damage: 8 piercing. Horrible aim; you don't even need to dodge.
Sword-Skeleton#4 shortsword (melee weapon attack) vs. Utar: Attack: 12Damage: 6 piercing. Bounces off of your armor.
Sword-Skeleton#5 shortsword (melee weapon attack) vs. Neya: Attack: 14Damage: 3 piercing. This one you have to dodge, slightly moving to your left.
Sword-Skeleton#6 shortsword (melee weapon attack) vs. Neya: Attack: 17 Damage: 3 piercing. Busy dodging the last slash, this one hits you low, in the leg.
BOW-SKELETONS' TURN:
Bow-Skeletons will snap their teeth, making horrible sounds, and shoot arrows at the second row of opponents.
Bow-Skeleton#1 shortbow (ranged weapon attack) vs. Graxx: Attack: 12Damage: 4 piercing. A head move to the right and the arrow misses.
Bow-Skeleton#2 shortbow (ranged weapon attack) vs. Asley: Attack: 15 Damage: 4 piercing. Arrow catches you square on the right shoulder.
Bow-Skeleton#4 shortbow (ranged weapon attack) vs. Cato: Attack: 24 Damage: 10 piercing. Arrow to the gut; it may have hit something important.

Ouch! That arrow stings! Cato casts healing word on himself, restoring 7 hit points. Then he applies a new trick he has learned to transform into a grey wolf. He growls at the nearest skeleton.
Utar grips his amulet tightly, mumbling a prayer to Torm. Repeating the words, over and over, louder and louder. As the repetition goes on a faint glow begins to emerge from the amulet, growing stronger and stronger.
"Torm. It's me, Utar. I invoke your aid, here in this place. Protect these people, who in turn are protecting others. Help us now, so that we might continue your work. Hear me."
Releasing his hand from the amulet at the apex of the prayer, a bright, blinding light is emitted, Utar is channelling his faith to use turn undead.
OOC - Skeletons within 30ft need to succeed on a DC12 saving throw or be turned. If they are turned they cannot make reactions and the only action they can use is to dash directly away from Utar.

You all see Cato quickly remove the arrow from his belly while saying a few words to help heal the wound. As soon as he is done he transforms into a grey wolf. (OOC: unlucky roll on the healing, pretty good one on the wolf's HP!)
