All I really know about the weapon is that it is martial with a 2d6 plus your modifier, as well as once a short of long rest a bonus 3d6 on a hit. It doesn’t have a weight either for some reason.
is it OP? Is it some sort of custom weapon from a campaign I am not aware of? Is it really not meant to be used as a default martial weapon despite being available. Is it actually made of gold? Would it be sold for a game-breaking amount? Does it really make sense as a weapon? In DnD? For a Solider Ancient Guardian Variant Feral Tiefling Barbarean with custom stats?
i don’t think ao. I found it without being in any campaign.
What’s interesting is that it’s at the very bottom non alphabetically with 3 oher weapons: Double-bladed Scimitar, Hoopak and Cerated saber. They each seem to have extra abilities as well as no worth or weight. Could these be some sort of extra weapons added meant to be available to everyone? Is there something else these four weapons have in common?
Yeah, found it in the equipment database, looks like it's from one of the 3PP's they've brought to Beyond. Given that there's no cost, it doesn't look like it's meant to be a general option; presumably it's tied either to an NPC or adventure from that product.

Wow, way to go on that research! I wouldn't even know where to start looking.

Because it's not homebrew as the site organizes entries; it has an official entry as non-core material since D&DB has started bringing more 3PP manuals to the site.
I would recommend not using golden scythe because it's pretty OP, same with the blaster, but the other ones are fine. I especially like serrated saber.
The Golden Scythe is from the MCDM monster book "Flee, Mortals!". It's not specifically related to the Blood Hunter.
It's been implemented in D&D Beyond as a non-magical piece of equipment, which is a little odd given that it has a once-per-short-rest necrotic damage effect. It definitely should not be used without DM permission as it's third-party content.

Sounds like some hombrew that somebody in a game with you has in their collection. (Homebrew is always shared. It's kind of annoying.)

Looks like it’s from Flee, mortals if that helps.

Ah ok. Thank you all for finding out! I should probably go with something else for my starter weapon.

Nope I turned off homebrew for my character yet I still was able to get it

Yeah, when it says "a martial weapon" in your starting equipment, it means something from this table:

um I made a custom race character not what I mean but they are a blood hunter and it was one of the martial weapons for me non-custom
Perhaps the blood hunter is meant to have that weapon to start out by design? That would explain why it would be broken with other classes.

with the blood hunter you can get lots of special weopons to use if that helps
The average attack damage is 9.5, i think
The average damage of the base weapon is 7. The average damage of the add-on necrotic damage effect is 13.5.

My characters does 2d6+2 average of 9
