If there is a Limbo mage, people will complain about it stepping in the domain of the Wild Magic Sorcerer, like they did about the Fey Wanderer and Horizon Walker.
I still want it, though.

You know, I did think they fey wanderer and horizon walker were similar, but I think their distinction is large enough for it not to matter too much. They've also been making a lot of thematically similar subclasses for different classes (aberrant and GOO, Wild Soul and Wild Magic), so I don't think it would hurt too much.

It's ok Ranger, you'll always be cool to me.. Unless druid gets another use for its wild shape charges.
It could be the psionic ones, as it's wizard, rogue and fighter left. The same as the other UA.
If we are looking planes, we have hell, limbo and shadowfel I can think of.
We had a idea of a limbo mage and a infernal rogue.
Perhaps a death knight? With temp HP and life stealing? Like say, second wind gives temp hp? Perhaps a bit vampiric as a counterpart to the weerewolf barbarain? Or just the flavoring that these ones seem to have. (like the recent star focus for druids).
I'm homebrewing a Grave Knight Fighter that gets temp HP and life stealing.
Death Knight already exists as Oathbreaker paladins, but I think a death fighter could be cool.
My wife and I were talking about this last night - there's a necromancy-based subclass for almost every class at this point.
Then we decided our next group is going to be an emo percussion band called "It's Not a Phase, Mom." Death cleric, Oathbreaker, Necromancer, Shadow Sorcerer, Undying Warlock, Long Death Monk.
(Any rogue fits the emo thing. Gloomstalker ranger works. Whispers Bard works as well, though none of these are necromantic in any way).
The only classes that lack emo-themed subclasses, we concluded, are Artificer, Barbarian, and Fighter... and you can just make them edgy in the RP. So "It's Not a Phase, Mom," here we come.
Hm.. Ancestral Guardian isn't necessarily emo but it's pretty metal, summoning your fallen ancestors as ghosts and shit to hold your enemies down as you chop them in two.

Yeah, but that Revived Rogue really fits the bill.
How about a tribal artificer, less tech oriented, but more about making representations of natural forces and invoking them to grant buffs. Things like totems you can plant to grant minor passive buffs to your allies in range. Or an early level ability to explicitly make weapon magical. Not enhance it's damage, but to just make it magical that would also explicitly work on natural weapons.

That sounds cool, but more druid to me. Maybe those abilities would key off beastshape like Wildfire.
I mean the issue is, berserker is the literal interpretation and full extent of rage. You can't really have another, non magical, interpretation of it that fits in with theme instead of being heavily reflavored.
Maybe a reworking of the Brute? Your rage damage is doubled, or something like that. Focus on harder hits rather than number of hits like Berserker does.
I always wanted a necromancy artificer, but if they were going to publish it in anything, it would be an Innistrad campaign setting book.
“it’s alive! ALIVE!!!”
Yeah, like Dr. Frankenstein!
Maybe it has an added infusion that lets them make flesh golems, or something. It would be cool.
But, Innistrad campaign setting is the only way we'd be getting that subclass, so for those of us who don't necessarily want more M:tG settings, I guess that this is a win-lose situation.

Punch harder, not smarter?
Like you take a negative to hit, but deal an extra 1d6 damage or something.

Right... because there are no "nature" themed subclasses. there are no clerics or paladins with nature themes. Crafting isn't just since the industrial revolution. In many cultures, before the written word gained power, it was the craftsman who was seen as a keeper of magic. Don't try and pigeon-hole an artificer. Yes, you are crafting, but who's to say the items you are crafting aren't taking their power from nature?

I don't think they'll publish a Tribal Artificer, as that seems like a paradox. They might eventually do a Botanist Artificer, which you could flavor as being from a tribe and drawing magical power from nature, but I don't think they'll go with Tribal as a theme.
I'm not trying to pigeon hole the Artificer. Artificers are one of my favorite classes, partially because of their versatility, but I think that there are certain themes that you don't go into as a class. Like, no healing wizards, or intelligence based barbarians.
Making the most industrial and scientific class a tribal subclass is not something I find very thematic or a good idea, but you can always flavor it however you want.

Partway through the quest for absolute truth.
Oooh, death barbarian. Path of the Skulls, maybe?
That's cool.

Personally, I'd like a non-magic Barbarian. Path of the Warrior or something.
Because as it stands pretty much everyone besides Berserker is using Rage as a stand in for Magic and I wouldn't mind seeing something more physical.
Battlerager?
