hi i need some help for a custom homebrew dragonborn, because i wanna edit a double breath weapon and two damage resistance if some out there can help me with that?
Public Mod Note
(Halfwing):
Moved from Bugs & Support
Use the regular Dragonborn as a Template and see how it was designed. You can edit that much more easily than recreating it from scratch. If you still need help post back here and I’ll do my best.
PS- There’s an entire forum where you can ask for homebrew help. Better to use that in future than the Bugs & Support forum.
i haved edit it but i wanna do like get a first breath weapon and a second one and like double resistance from that draconic ancestry like to choose 2 of them instant of 1
Ahh. You want to edit the Draconic Ancestry trait to allow them to choose two ancestries instead of one. In the “Levels Where Options Known” field, enter “1,1” into tat field so it will allow them to choose two Ancestries at 1st level instead of the default 1 choice. The rest of the Options (Breath Weapon & Resistance) are all automatically granted off of that one original choice. If you need further help I fully explained how Options work in this other thread; (Subclasses & Races FAQ #1): https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq.
hi there i need help with the dragonborn again like i wanna do something like the Custom Lineage it has like the feat option that it has to choose a feat like sentinel, Actor and etc but i only get the grabbler i dont know why
I believe that's the only feat in the Basic Rules. To access feats in published books, you need to have purchased those books (or at least the feats in them).
so i did that but only get the grabbler feat i dont know why
The Grappler feat is the only free content feat. To access the others you must purchase them from their respective books, or purchase those books whole from this website.
Hello!....Was wondering how, and if, Rare Abilities(if at all) may factor into Traits of the Dragonborn character creation?....Been doing a lot of research into the Dragonborn race as of late. And came upon D&D Lore Wiki and "Some", Dragonborn....and their "Rare Abilities". Possessing other abilities of their, Draconic ability. Such as exceptionally strong scales, which serve as a form of natural armor. And "Some", radiate an aura of menace when angered, and can roar powerfully enough to frighten opponents. Again. "Some", so not all of the Dragonborn race would posses these, "Rare Abilities". Unlike the Draconic Dragonborn breath weapon, which just seems to be a standard trait. So after finishing my Dragonborn Paladin character build, there is an AC of 18, and a Charisma/Intimidation of +4. This is the base result of the Dragonborn Paladin build....But can I assume that these possible, "Rare Abilities" of, "Some" Dragonborn, are not apart of that base generated result? Or are these, "Rare Ability" traits already factored in?....and are reflected as such, with the AC of 18 and the Intimidation +4? Or are these "Rare Abilities", not actually lore friendly? And is just made up by someone? Or maybe, this is something legitimately lore friendly? That could possibly be added/adjusted, to suit a Dragonborn character? That might again, posses these...."Rare Abilities"? Maybe something for a DM to consider? Rolling a D100? 50/50 chance of your character having these, "Rare Abilities"? Or, would this be considered to OP? I'm figuring both AC and Intimidate would increase to a +2....making the AC 20 and Intimidation a +6....for a Lvl. 1 character?
Thanks for any insight you may be able to give. Appreciate it.
Those so called “rare abilities” would best be implemented as something like racial feats that you would choose instead of regular feats when you level up,or character boons which would be bestowed by the DM (which could be implemented as feats and added directly to the character sheet). There are already 2 Dragonborn racial feats in Xanathar’s Guide, the Dragon Fear and Dragon Hide feats which represent those two rare abilities you mentioned in your post, as well as three more Draconic Feats available to all PCs which can be found in Fizban’s Tome. For anything else, you would need to discuss it with your DM.
Thanks for the reply....I guess I was just trying to determine whether or not these, Rare Abilities/Racial Feats...are already calculated in the character creation or not. Because the only Feats I see is for a Grappler Ability. Which I'm assuming is a Regular Feat. And I think I am confusing what is inherently bestowed upon the Dragonborn, as apposed to what is earned/leveling. Because in regards to the Dragon Hide, it says: "Your scales harden. While you aren’t wearing armor, you can calculate your AC as 13 + your Dexterity modifier". So I'm interpreting that to say, AC 13 + Dex Modifier doesn't stack. Because if it did stack....Talk about OP....lol.
Thanks again....appreciate it.

I believe that's the only feat in the Basic Rules. To access feats in published books, you need to have purchased those books (or at least the feats in them).
My homebrew subclasses (full list here)
(Artificer) Swordmage | Glasswright | (Barbarian) Path of the Savage Embrace
(Bard) College of Dance | (Fighter) Warlord | Cannoneer
(Monk) Way of the Elements | (Ranger) Blade Dancer
(Rogue) DaggerMaster | Inquisitor | (Sorcerer) Riftwalker | Spellfist
(Warlock) The Swarm
the thing is i can choose the feats normal in the modifier but wanna do that option too choose one of the feats like the Custom Lineage it has
Add a racial trait, then edit the trait. Scroll down to add modifier and click it. Type: Feat. Subtype: Choose a feat.
so i did that but only get the grabbler feat i dont know why
