Variant Human Champion Fighter with dual wielder feat. Fights with warhammer and sickle. Background, folk hero, that saved his country from tyrannical rulers who were oppressing the people. Founded a new government for the people where resources are shared through the community. Thoughts?
YES!!! a bad idea for a bad idea thread
You forgot the part about him becoming a dictator himself.
Session 0 is actually campaign 0 where players start at the age where they can hold a conversation - or rather, an age where they should be able to hold a conversation even if they can't.
They are CR0 with no adventuring levels. Each player joins the campaign at their chosen race's appropriate age as defined above and their separate lives evolve from that point forward for the next IRL 3 years of campaign where they reach the age where they become adventurers, and if they haven't already met, they meet each other for the first time and figure out adventuring.
(I'd rather roll an entire ancestral family history using XGtE than that - and using recursion with XGtE rolls can be a trap that will create a new world that won't fit in anyone else's.)
Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
Change STR to Muscle. INT to Brains. WIS to Guru. CHA to Politics. CON to Stamina. DEX to Graceful. HP to Survival. Survival to Scavenger. Animal Handling to Pets. Sleight of Hand to Tricks. Investigation to Smarts. Fire to Heat. Poison to Toxic. Sonic to Thunder. Electric to Lightning. etc.
Didn’t they already change sonic and electric to thunder and lightning in 5e?

Rumors of my awesomeness have been greatly unexaggerated.
"It is our choices ... that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." — Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.
About 50% of my brain power is devoted to thinking up eloquent speeches that I’ll probably never use.
Be lazy and turn every unique idea for a class into a subclass for a different class. That way, instead of building a unique 20 level class with it’s own abilities, you can just slap a few features onto a subclass. Who cares that the subclasses barely change how the class feels and lead to repetitive playing, it means you can do even less work on the books you release super slow.

They actually made that change in 4 E.

That was kind of the whole point.
Thanks to the Marvel movies, I know of plenty of people who think Thunder damage is electric despite the presence of Lightning damage. I'd like to know those players' explanation of the difference between (Thor's) Thunder damage versus Lightning damage.

Switching Thunder and Lightning damage types. Thunder shocks, and Lightning hurts your ears.
(Shouldn't thunder and bludgeoning technically be the same damage type? Both of them are vibrational damage, but one is through air, and the other is through smashing weapons.)

Not really. Bludgeoning is not really vibrational, the pure damage is singular massive trauma. However, you could exchange thunder with sonic damage.
(Shouldn't thunder and bludgeoning technically be the same damage type? Both of them are vibrational damage, but one is through air, and the other is through smashing weapons.)
Mhm, this I agree with. Though maybe thunder damage can be taken more literally...a noise so deafening that it hurts.

No, because one is blunt force trauma and the other is sonic in nature, more of a concussive force.
All skill-vs-skill contests are solved IRL instead of by d20.
Arm wrestling for everything except when WIS is one of the contested skills. Blinking contest for WIS-based.
