Reskinning anything to become everything you need.
What I mean by this, you can easily reskin a battlemaster to be a psion, having the Superiority Dice be psioinic power reserves, and the maneuvers be telekinetic manipulation.
This is good in theory, but in practice it feels lackluster. WotC should develop real psionic options instead of telling people to reskin stuff.
(don't want to derail discussion, just my 2 cents on this)
Instead of combat, defeat of enemies will be determined by DC. Beat the DC and the enemy is defeated (dead or subdued). If the DC fails, the player character is forced to flee the encounter.

WotC rewriting every rule in the core books, but so the game functions exactly like Pathfinder 2.0
That may be to confusing for some to grasp. An Open Gaming License game being re-written using an OGL game updated from a game based on an OGL game that the rewritten game is updated from.
So D&D 6th edition would be Pathfinder 2.5e at that point.
Making half levels. When you gain half the XP needed to get to the next level, you get half of their features. If your next feature gives you an ability that takes an action, instead it takes a bonus action. You gain half the hit points that you would gain next level, half the spell slots, and half an infusion if you're an artificer.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Based on Goblins Comic. One can divide their multiclass into fractional levels with effectiveness divided in the same manner starting at level 1. One could be 1/12 level of every basic class at level 1.
"I cast 1/11 Sleep on you!" "Anything happen?" "I do feel a little drowsy."

Instead of having spell slots that limit how many spells you can cast per day, spellcasting is based on making an Arcana (if arcane spellcaster) or Religion (if divine spellcaster) check against a DC of 15+the level of the spell you want to cast. Failure results in negative consequences that depend on how badly you failed the check. This means that you can theoretically cast Meteor Swarm at 1st level, but you're more likely to accidentally turn yourself into a tuna sandwich.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Welcome to Rolemaster! (Although it is very unlikely that you'd know any spell list that high). And actually it seems to work fairly well in practice (partly because it is so rare that anyone would have many spells over their level and other than perhaps only a couple levels).
this actually sounds really fun

The law of large numbers is basically magic. This is actually the logic behind the UA psi dice. Although you could end up with either very few or way too many uses of the psi abilities, it's unlikely.
Creating rules for running monsters characters as PCs that actively punish anyone who tries to do so.
Oh wait . . . Volo's
Volo's Guide has nothing on the 3rd Edition rules. I don't think that his blog is available anymore, but the guy who was in charge of writing them outright stated that he hated the idea of monstrous player characters and intentionally wrote the rules to make them unplayable.

^ yes that is a terrible idea

yes, its a good bad idea
1) 2 is a good idea.

Similarly, treating XP as an expendable resource. XP costs for spells/magic item creation, XP/level drain by monsters.
