Every city you stop in, you attract a minstrel. Each minstrel sings praises of your great or despicable deeds, and you can't get rid of the musicians. Each minstrel gives a cumulative -2 bonus to stealth checks.
Depending on the instrument, you get different bonuses:
Bagpipes: Your strength score increases by 1
Birdpipes, Pan Flute : You have advantage on Persuasion checks against satyrs
Drum, Hand Drum, Wargong: While travelling, you move a extra mile per hour
Flute, Longhorn, Shawm, Songhorn, Thelarr: You may cast charm person, but only on children or rats. While casting the spell this way, rats count as humanoids. Any town, city or village you cast this in is renamed Hamelin.
Glaur, Horn, Tantan, Tocken: No effect beyond the -2
Lute, Lyre, Viol, Yarting: You can cast the Calm Emotions spell once per long rest
Whistle-Stick: Your minstrel companion is a grung. You may use them to coat your weapons in poison
Zulkoon: When you force someone with a spell on the bard spell list to make a saving throw, you may use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the roll
I keep imagining: "Sir Robin ran away. He bravely ran away, away! When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled!"
If the party ends up in the frozen land of Nador, can they eat the minstrels?

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
And one of my other PCs is Saladin Fflewydd the (dwarven) paladin/druid. I confess, I suggested the name as a joke.
The one situation where something like this would be okay is if you live in an area that children's last names depend on their parent's profession. So, a half-orc PC that is the son of a Ranger could be "Norock Rangerson" or a half-elf could be named "Laera Sorcererdotter."

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Starry Foresight: You may cast Augury one per short rest with this ability
Constellation: After finishing a long rest, you may choose one of the following constellations to appear on your body. This lasts until your next long rest
Chalice: You have a constellation of a goblet on you. When you cast a spell that restores hit points, you or another creature within 30 feet regains hit points equal to your level
Archer: A constellation of an archer is on you. As a bonus action, you may make a ranged spell attack, hurling a luminous arrow that targets a creature you can see within 60 feet of you. On a hit, the attack deals radiant damage equal to 1d8 + your Wisdom modifier. Wisdom is your ability score for this attack
Dragon: A constellation of a wise, dragon is on you. When you make an Intelligence or a Wisdom check or a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration on a spell, you can treat a roll of 9 or lower on the d20 as a 10.
Wait, are you sure you put this on the right discussion thread? This actually seems good except maybe a little over powered ... it is not a bad idea.

Yeah, almost as good as that Druid subclass.... 🤔😒🤫
But I think being bought out by Disney is more likely.
Every adventure must be about an orphaned princess.
Sudden thought: one of my PCs is an orphaned princess. (Don't judge, the player is only 8.)
That is merely a cliched idea. A bad idea would be every adventure being about a happy, well adjusted princess in a prosperous, stable kingdom where no one (including the princess) has any meaningful problems.
Allowing a PC to become a cannibal and eat the other party members.
In AD&D2e Dark Sun, Thri-kreen were a playable race and their favorite food was Elf flesh. My Thri-kreen would sit watch while the Elf was in trance, and he would sit watch while my Thri-kreen was in trance (they had it too). The whole time my character was on watch he would sit there chittering his mandibles and muttering about delicious elves.

Of course, since they can't talk, no one would understand what they were muttering about. That is truly beautiful.
