Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
I want to play as a Kenku, and I have individually have purchased the race (from the Monster Manual) for research, but I am not able to select it as a playable race.
I am confused, as you can clearly select a portrait of a kenku in the character creator???
Do I need to purchase this race from a different book???

Hi OddlyOzzy,
The Kenku race is not from the Monster Manual, it is from Volo's Guide to Monsters. The Kenku in the Monster Manual is just a monster statblock to use as an enemy in a campaign.
I was attempting to create a character, but kenku isn't on the race seleciton panel.
Do you own the digital Volo's Guide to Monsters content pack? If not, no kenku race.

Did you make a purchase?

You can scroll down in the Volo's Guide to Monsters entry in the Marketplace and find the purchase of just the Kenku race for $1.99.

If I were you I would copy and paste it into homebrew and use that
Perfect solution! Thanks!
