The gray minuses in front of stats and saving throws are quite hard to see at small sizes on mobile etc. Using proper minus signs “−” instead of the dashes you’re using “-“ would help. Can you please make this simple update?
YES very much this please! My old eyes aren't what they used to be, and it's easy to mistake a -2 for a 2 in the heat of battle. Especially on the saving throws and skills which are extra small for some reason.
The layout is harder to read. The apparent directive to eliminate scrolling lead to lots of very tiny text crammed onto the screen. The sidebar is inconvenient. It pops up constantly because the page is so cluttered, offering unwanted descriptions like that stupid Microsoft paperclip and the only way to close it is to hunt for a spot on the page that isn't being used.
Please take the A.C. box out of the combat tab and but it next to health. It is better there for quick reference and is more frequently referenced than inspiration (nobody needs a box that big for inspiration). If A.C. were easier to increase or decrease, that would be nice. The proficiency bonus can be moved somewhere. I can't remember ever being asked for my prof. bonus.
P.S. Apparently copy and paste have not been mastered as descriptions of spells, abilities, feats, etc. do not consistently match the books they are supposed to reference.

Careful. Changes in the markup can break any CSS you've written. I already encountered this on multiple occasions with my own styles. You're constantly having to adapt and make changes based on the whims of the developers.
To be fair, it's hardly "the whims of the developers" - there is zero promise to keep the styling or content static so that the community can apply external styling, specifically for the reason that the site is still being expanded and developed.
Where there is feedback, it is considered and improvements are made.
Code management isn't something that takes place by the whim of a single developer.
Why aren't the side panel/overlay settings saved when I set them? It's rather annoying to have to re-lock the panel into place every time I open a character sheet.

Thank you for your feedback request for the panel position settings to be saved between characters/sessions. :)
While I realize that this could be done with creating homebrew spells, it'd be nice if the in-sheet spell customization allowed me to override damage types. For example, one of my players is playing a light/sun themed warlock, and I'm allowing him to do things like replace the eldritch blast damage with radiant, and Armor of Agathys with fire. Not a huge deal, but I like the customization options, so it'd be cool to have more.
A large number of people are polarized by the character sheet update. Several posts have suggested a simple solution to this problem:
Offer the original version of the character sheet and the new version, give people the choice of which to use
This solves all the problems. Those that enjoy the new layout are welcome to migrate over. Those that bought into DNDBeyond for the clarity and ease-of-use of the original design don't feel as if their investment in the site was wasted. Plus, they will stay on as customers going into the future. It's easy to miss the fact that the people on this forum are the most engaged in the platform, and psychologically more inclined to be overly supportive for the sake of being supportive. The reality is that there's a massive contingent of people that won't take the time to post to this forum and those people are the ones that are most likely to walk out the door once they see the new design. Even an unbiased party would have to admit - it's jarring for someone to log in and see their whole world has drastically changed. These are the people that we'll never hear from, but my guess is they'll represent the majority. Rather than see them leave, wouldn't it be wise (Wisdom check here) to offer them the option to retain the original design? That way DNDBeyond doesn't miss out on revenue that keeps the site operational?
I ran the new design by the group that I play with (none of which checked this forum). The response was universal - everyone hated the new character sheet. To give it the benefit of the doubt, I tried - honestly tried - to get used to it and make it work over the 4th of July. I spent a lot of time with it and, rather than have that "ah ha" moment where I got used to the new layout, only became more frustrated. For all the reasons that everyone has already mentioned. The end result? Everyone in our game is switching to paper sheets. Paper sheets! We're not talking about a couple minor areas of inconvenience or frustration. The entire group was so polarized at clicking 3 - 5 times to get to what they need, with the critical information now hidden on half a dozen different pages, that we are abandoning the use of the site entirely.
Again, it doesn't have to be like this. A simple toggle switch would allow a user to use the "Advanced" character sheet (new one) or the "Classic" design (old one). This solves everyone's grievances and allows us to march forward, merrily, with everyone's needs getting met.
DNDBeyond staff - can you respond to this request?

They've already responded to that request when asked earlier and said flat out that that was not an option. On the backend there have been enough changes where it simply isn't feasible.
At this point there's two options: a) Stop using dndbeyond, or b) do the best you can to provide constructive feedback so the product can be in a functional state for touch users again.
I'm personally going with b because before this change I got a lot of enjoyment out of the site and am hopeful that they are listening and taking our concerns very seriously.

I can't even get mine to switch from overlay to being on the side of everything else.

I had the same problem. The only way to avoid the overlay sidebar have to be zoomed out enough / have a larger screen resolution (in the top bar go to "View > Zoom Out"). I will note that the larger, inherent problem with this solution is that the text is CRAZY small at that point. I'm not an old geezer; I have 20/15 vision and it even makes me squint on your average laptop size. Considering how much space is left in the margins, even when not zoomed in that much, this is crazy. Needs to be adjusted for all browsers and up to a reasonable text size.

I have 1920x1080 widescreen monitors. It only shows up when I maximize my browser on that window.
Edit: Looking at the CSS, the sidepanel being able to lock to the side of the character sheet like that requires that you expand the width of the sheet to 1200px or more, which with margins and padding, the entire window has to be 1583px or higher. So if you're using a resolution smaller than that, you won't be able to lock it into place the way I have.
I refused to use D&D Beyond because of the old character sheet design. It was horrible.
I think you're probably more common than the other way around.
The old design was usable, but it wasn't great. The new one has some bugs and missing features, but overall it's just miles better.
Same here. Tried using the old sheet and pretty quickly gave up on it, but absolutely love the new sheet! I’m glad that they look at server metrics because I was never very vocal about being unhappy with the old sheet.

yep. these guys are very smart about how they interact with user data to make their product better. I've no doubt that will continue.
I just hope that the exported sheet is still very unfinished, because it's just kind of ugly, and the spell page is just not useful at all.
I really hope they take a look at the MPMB sheet, and give something like that level of functionality in the spell sheet. At the very least, put spell slots at the top, and clean things up so that the notes section on each spell line is longer.

Im still having issues with magic weapons with spell charges not restoring charges after you do the assigned short or long rest
