This is something that feels massively missing from DND Beyond given the last two adventures and the time since they've been released. Especially considering both of them involve being able to customize you're vehicles. I checked some threads and looked over the roadmap but don't see any answer as to whether or not we're getting this, let alone when.
Is this feature going to be added or do I need to find another way of managing my DiA campaign's vehicles?
I second this. I thought we would be able to homebrew vehicles within a few months after GoS came out. By now 2 more books have had vehicles and neither printed the land or air vehicles that were in the PHB/DMG (even though eberron is well known for airships, wtf WotC?).
I could definitely see something like this being added once they finally do the Homebrew overhaul. I know there are some missing features (like this) and some bugs that haven't been addressed yet, probably in preparation for the new homebrew system that will eventually be released. Of course a D&D Beyond staff member would have to verify this, but this is just my educated guess.
Agreed. I have a few homebrew vehicles in the wings for when this becomes a reality. I suspect they're holding out on anything homebrew related until the next revamp comes. I'm not holding out hope for that coming in the next year or two.
I don't know why it isn't supported already. But I will withhold further nagging until the monster builder is out. If we had that I can't think of an excuse to not have homebrew vehicles.

No. It used to be a planned feature that would be like a character builder for monsters and NPCs. It was supposed to let us apply monster templates and have a pool of existing monster features and actions to quickly pick from. And when sidekicks came out it was assumed they would get integrated into it as well.
I don't see it on the new roadmap. It might still get mentioned in update Q&As but I haven't checked those in a while.

Ah. I haven’t heard tell of anything like that, so I doubt they’re still talking about it. They may still be planning it, but it certainly hasn’t come up in quite a while.

IIRC wasn't it also supposed to allow you to equip magic items to monsters?

I'm finding this to be an annoying issue, now that I'm playing in Rime of the Frostmaiden. The adventure happens in a snowy climate, so you have things like dogsleds, which require the sleds – and also the dogs.
Dogsleds :
They're not in 'Extras > Vehicles', unfortunately. They are only in the 'Equipment' tab.
They're 300 pounds. So, you have to either put them in Inventory, and customize the weight to 0, or put them in the 'other' tab and keep notes on what's stored on them there.
Sled dogs:
They're not in 'Extras > Pets' or 'Extras > Mounts'.
Since they are living creatures and can be attacked, you will likely have to manage their AC/HP/Etc., so the workaround is to go to 'Extras > Pets' or 'Extras > Mounts', add a Wolf, and use Customizations to rename it.
If I had the ability to add Vehicles, or Pets, or Mounts, it'd be a non-issue. But, it's making these edge cases clunky.
I'm surprised they haven't opened this up for 'open sourcing' the data in these areas. There are a legion of D&D nerds that would have filled all this stuff out ages ago if they had created the ability to submit home-brew items just like magic items. I know there's a management and interface design cost associated, so it's still a substantial investment, but (having done systems like this in my day job) the payoff would be huge.

It should be noted that dog sleds aren't vehicles per the specific vehicle rules, they're equipment (they don't have any of the attributes that say a galley has. As for sled dogs, per the adventure they use the wolf stat block rather than their own, bespoke stat block

The feature request zendesk page has one for "Vehicle Character Sheet / Builder" so I would encourage all of you to vote for it.

But I don't want a character sheet for vehicles, the extras tab works fine.
I want to be able to homebrew my own vehicles, which this zendesk request does not mention.

I agree, they should have it on the create homebrew tab.

Yeah, it has only ever been a long term plan.

Yeah, maybe.
