Is that what you are after?"
This does not work if the spell or cantrip is obtained through a feat. Spells obtained through feats appear in a different section of the character sheet with no option to check a box.
Precisely -- here is a thread and pic with what happens with a feat/spell -- this case has a "saving throw" pointed out as not showing up, but the same is with cantrips that have an attack roll associated -- in the spells section they show the +hit, but the cantrips granted by race/feats do not have that extra point
What i would like to see is an offline windows app that I can use for my laptop instead of an apple/android phone/tablet. I mean sure that is nice, but it could be a feature of subscribing too.
Other than that, some notification of when things go on sale (like Cyber Monday, totally missed it and I would have been happy to get the core books i have been putting off)
How about a total VTT, something that has the best of all the other programs and done right. FOW, player handouts, a campaign PM system so you can tell that one person what they found without telling everyone and would show up as an extra tab, dice roller, init tracker, monster tracker and a interactive or DM only white board (or blackboard, or greenboard, really don't care about the color i guess). ...and maybe somehow integrated with twitch...maybe? (is this asking for too much at a time?)

The app is currently--last I checked, at least--planned to only be compatible with Android and iOS (due to Windows not being terribly developer-friendly, if I remember right), but several others have requested a Windows version.

Thats bs... I develop in visual basic and i have tons of ways to develop for phone and i even have one way of porting to android or ios. Its even easier to port to ios or android from C. And both languages have easy web interface acting as apps on all devices.
This lead me to wonder what are they developping with if its that hard.

You either dropped an /s or your arrogance is astounding...
I'd like to take a moment to point out that you're all throwing around conjecture.
The only reason that has been given so far for not producing a Windows version of the app, is due to lack of demand.
Yes, there have been a few vocal posters on these forums asking for a windows app, however Curse work with some of the best data scientists in the world (Amazon) and I'm told that the data indicates there would be a relatively small percentage of D&D Beyond users wanting to use a Windows app for mobile.
This does not mean there will never be a Windows app.
It means the decision was made to prioritise development for the two clear leaders in mobile operating systems - android and iOS.
As far as development goes - developing an application with any one of the "universal frameworks for mobile" will yield inferior products to using experienced developers who understand the quirks of each operating system and how to get the most from it.
The current approach is designed to get the best quality apps possible, which also means it takes time.
As a side note - the pre-alpha app is looking REALLY good and is smooth and responsive - it's going to be worth the wait. :)
I think the issue here is that you are using the term "Mobile". Yes, android and IOS make up 99.8%* of the mobile market, so yes, that is what your highly paid data scientists would say if i asked about the mobile market type.
However, we (or maybe just I, but i have seen a lots of posts talking about using the Surface) are asking for something that runs on a PC/ Mac / linux. That should give you near 100% coverage of the laptop/desktop/tablet market. Which i would think given the choice, that is what most DM's would use to run a campaign.
I will agree that as a player, using an ipad or my iphone plus "should" be good enough to see my character sheet, but i wouldn't want to use that to run an adventure.
I just want to be clear that I am a moderator and not Curse staff, so the above is a mixture of repeating what staff have said with my own personal interpretation.
Please also remember that a few posts on these forums doesn't necessarily represent the larger market.
I understand full well this answer, and it makes more sense then just being told "its harder to develop for".
but i'd be willing to see that data, because honestly, most of the people i see around me, or even on the net on roll200 and the likes, actually uses a computer. and computers do not have IOS or Android to begin with.
as was mentionned above, character sheet is fine from a phone... but it is definitely not fine when it comes to running a game from your phone. thats ridiculous to say the least and i have yet to see anybody running a game from their phones. and i'm sure that curse data tells them this much. so, leaving the phones out of the equation for running a game because clearly nobody uses their phone for that. it leaves you with tablets, and considering that most tablets are android or IOS, it is normal for the data to say windows users aren't in demand. but in reality, when it comes to tablet... windows users do have tons of demands because they use those tablets cause they are compatibles with their windows machine. considering 90% of the population actually uses a windows machine, why wouldn't they want a tablet that is literally the same as their mahcines ?
granted that 90% was many years ago, maybe macs have gotten much higher or linux for that matter which is android.
in any cases, when you start lobbing together tablets and phones int he same mobile decision, you get very very different results then if you actually placed tablets as smaller desktops.
don't know for others, but as far as i am concerned, i'll never run a game from my phone. it is fine for database and or character sheet. but definitely not to run intiatives and definitely not to run an adventure where i need 3-4 pages open at the same time. My tablet that i use right now is a windows tablet to boot. i love it because it has 2 usb ports, 1 mini hdmi port and everything else a tablet needs. as far as i am concerned, being told to buy another tablet to be able to use this software is not really an answer.
now that said, i understand their wanting to impress the bigger market first. so i'm willing to wait, but i really hope they do develop for windows later on. otherwise they'll be missing out a ton and i'm sure that if they do, their data will tell them very differently then what they expected to begin with.

@Stormknight I understand you are just a moderator (well not really "just", you do a lot more than that). However, surely someone from staff (@badeye maybe?) could see this and let us know. my guess is building apps for phones is a lot easier than building the platform for desktops/laptops so that is what they went with.
If they are using Amazon data for shopping, then yeah, i could see where it is easier to shop from your phone or tablet while sitting on the couch/in the car/on the toilet, however, let me ask this, would you use that same phone or tablet to write up a report in Word or balance your tables in excel where you have to use several sources ? (both are free on IOS, not sure about android). I know i would use my latop or better my desktop with two screens to do the job and then maybe my phone or tablet to present if that worked well enough.

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.
Stormknight, as a member of the community I want to apologize for the writings of others. You have been doing a wonderful job answering questions that are obviously not making some people happy. I think all the mods and staff know that when you try to implement something you are going to make one group happy and another is going to be upset. (I'm looking at you monster stat blocks) However this project is not said and done and people need to remember that everything needs to be taken one step at a time. Right now dndbeyond is releasing an alpha for a mobile app, get over it. It is a mobile app and you have to live with that. If a windows app is going to happen, give it time, and give them suggestions. There isn't a need to throw up statistics to try and prove your point because you feel let down by the mobile app. No one has asked you to run your game on a tablet. There are over 387,000 members according to the forum page and I would be interested how many of these people are only using dndbeyond for their character sheet.
Thanks Toploph - it's appreciated, but not needed. :)
I know that people are just passionate about their beliefs and that's ok, as long as nobody crosses the line into personal insults.
What I'm really asking is for people to trust that the Curse team are professionals and if you come up with some data, they're probably already aware as they research what they're doing, to ensure success.
Yes, I'm asking people to trust without evidence to prove to them that what I am saying is correct, so it's natural that some people will disagree with that.
Sadly, we live in a world where many of us have been let down by people saying, "trust me - I am an expert" so I understand the skepticism.
Now, I think this thread is in danger of derailing, so back on topic please!
The question the OP asked was, "What do you want most in D&D Beyond?"
Folks - please make sure you are sticking to the thread's topic and do not degrade to personal attacks against one another. I've removed the last few posts. Continuation of attacks or off topic comments will require us to lock the thread.
1. Better campaign tools/Virtual Tabletop: If this sort of thing isn't in development, or at least on the road map, I'd really love to know why. In today's world, it's far more common to have friends who live far away. I'm sure that there are a good number of people who would -- if they could be involved in a game, with friends, from their own house -- go from the demographic of 'I only have a few hours per week to game, and driving there and back is a half hour prospect which cuts that limited time down further, so I guess I'll hope for more free time later' bucket to the 'Holy cow, I can totally spare three or hour hours on X night every week, and 90 percent of that can be spent actually playing' one. A good tip for helping to ensure that your product -- this site -- lasts a long, long time and flourishes is to make it completely indispensable and able to stand on its own. Being able to hold far more campaign information, dice rolling tubes and some sort of map sharing are a must, but those would certainly make this product indispensable to me.
2. Freaking spell points, man: How about a simple box that says 'SPELL POINTS'. That would be enough, along with the ability to override the 'spells memorized' limits.
3. The ability to override pretty much anything on the character sheet: Lots of homebrew folks in these here parts. D&D players have almost ritualized changing rules to suit their group since far before there was a computer in every home and a phone glued to every free hand.
I'm *this* close to buying the whole bundle, this being after I've already bought the PHB, DMG, MM, Sword Coast, and the Guide to Everything. And I'll preface this by saying that I can only speak for myself, but I'd pay twice the subscription fee per year, gladly, to help fund those efforts.
If this site doesn't give these things in the near future, then (and perhaps it was meant to be this way all along, I honestly don't know) it will remain little more than a really, really good reference site for me. That's ok. But these are my visions of a pie in the sky.
