Ok little bit of a question, I'm trying to get a race feature that expends hitdice to function the race feature is as follows: "As a bonus action, roll 1 hit die and subtract that amount plus your Con modifier for your hit points. On your next attack, when you hit a creature, deal additional damage equal to the amount rolled and that creature is poisoned for the next minute."
Is this better suited for the player to do manually or is there a way to make it work?

This isn't really a snippet code related question.
On top of that, I'm not sure they have resolved the issue where the number of hit dice can only be manipulated if you click the short rest button. This makes tracking hit dice being used for anything other than short rest use very difficult to keep track of.
IS there a doc with all the snippets listed? Trying to sift useful posts through forum threads is torture.

If they had added any they would have updated them to the first post anyway.
Would they though? It's been pointed out that {{spellattack}} doesn't work as is. You have to add the ability, {{spellattack:wis}} or {{spellattack:int}} etc, and no one has updated the initial post.
Snippet codes don't add anything to your character. They are used to display some dynamic calculation based off of a stat. Now if your flying speed was determined by character or class level, based off one of your ability scores or modifiers, or pulled from some scale value or limited use setting somewhere, then you could use a snippet code.
For example if your flying speed was five times your proficiency bonus, the snippet for that would include: "Your flying speed is {{5*proficiency}}."
Hi, I’m trying to make a subclass ability similar to the assassin’s assassinate ability but I can’t figure out how to make the code work. Should I be using snippets or something else

Assassinate
Starting at 3rd level, you are at your deadliest when you get the drop on your enemies. You have advantage on attack rolls against any creature that hasn’t taken a turn in the combat yet. In addition, any hit you score against a creature that is surprised is a critical hit.
I'm not seeing anything in there that would necessitate a snippet code.

How to make it always crit
There is not a way to automatically always roll crit damage when your target is surprised. You just have to remember and then right click your damage dice button and roll crit damage from there.
Doubt anyone will read this, but just as a heads up, if you want a snippet to have both a min or a max and be unsigned, you type the @min first, then parentheses, then the #unsigned, like this:
{{(modifier:con@min:1)#unsigned}}
If you type it with #unsigned first, it displays a syntax error.

How do I set a modifier that is set later. Like "One ability score of your choice increases by 2."

No. There is no {{speed}} snippet.
