I’m not sure if anyone has already inquired about this, so i’m gonna ask: what happens if multiple creatures covered by the same “Gift of the Protectors” eldritch invocation drop to 0hp simultaneously, like if they were all hit with the same fireball, for instance?

That’s probably a situation they’ll have to clarify if the invocation goes official. My expectation is that the warlock choose whom to save.
I know we are not to ask when it will be released but i do think given the amount of time that has gone on since the release of the ua there has to be a way or if they have and i missed it a better way to communicate that this is still being worked on and not abandoned. i honestly think it would be reasonable for them to say we aren't doing this ua at all it is not worth the man hours it would require to get this working but just leaving us n the dark on this is kind of annoying.
Because this is something that will become canon in the future there is no way they would cease working on it. At some point they will HAVE to make this so might as well get the tools in place as soon as they efficiently can. This is a big thing to integrate, yes it has been a long time, but they have been good about putting out what they say they will. Not everythingcan be done instantaneously.

But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
There's a lot of stuff here, and frankly a lot of implications to releasing this. They are going to thumb through this data very closely before they decide how to release this stuff if they should.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

Last weeks' dev update stream (and pretty much every dev update video since the ua came out) has mentioned where it is on the road map. They are working on it, and will have it out as soon as they can.
Part of the reason they've taken so long was because they had to analyze and discuss system architecture changes to accomodate this and other customization/UA possibilities in the future. Basically, they don't want to slap a band-aid on it and call it good, they're actually rewriting parts of the core system to properly handle optional class features (which should get us one step closer to homebrewing full classes).

Adam Bradford has talked about exactly this in every freaking dev update he's done since. I don't even watch those things more'n maybe one time in five and I know exactly where the public docket is on it - work is actively being done on it, implementation is in development.

They are freaking working on it. DDB doesn't see Unearthed Arcana any earlier than any of us do, and Wizards does not plan around how annoying it'll be for DDB to implement something before releasing UA. Holy fragballing hell man, simmer the bananas down.
but just leaving us n the dark on this is kind of annoying.
Nobody has been left in the dark. The fact that you didn't bother doing any of the most basic research to figure out what's going on with Variant Class Features is on you, not on DDB. DDB has told everyone, multiple times, exactly what the plan is and why this is taking so damn long.
But they have plenty of time to code "the Explorers Guide to Wildemount". It's just a matter of what THEY think is the priority not what users think.
Explorer's Guide to Wildemount is an actual product, and implementing it (probably) doesn't involve developing entirely new systems.
I'm reasonably sure that the vast majority of users would also prioritize something they've spent money on over something they haven't.
Yes there's a big difference in adding more monsters, more items and more subclasses vs. changing the basic options of literally every class in a way that allows further changes like this to be implemented easily in the future.

It's almost like DDB is contractually obligated by their agreement with Wizards of the Coast to prioritize official content over UA, and they're being held to a strict deadline and timetable on major book releases like the Explorer's Guide while making UA available is a side project for both companies that they like to do when they can provided their obligations don't take priority.
Simmer. Down. At this point either they get it done or they don't. No sense going apeshit over it.
You are not the boss of anybody on here. These forums are here so people can ask questions and vent and complain about things. You telling them to stop asking does not mean that they have to listen to you.
Fine, vent and complain until you’re blue in the face. Get angry at the people answering the questions you have every right to ask. Those are your rights. “[We’re] not the boss of you!” Can I ask, did you stomp your foot and scrunch up your nose the way I’m imagining when you typed that?
Sure! Vent and complain all you like! Heh, doesn't mean you're any more immune to people picking at your venting and complaining than I am about people picking and complaining about mine.
It's a free(ish, for now) Internet. I'm as entitled to tell folks to Simmer the Bananas Down as you are to squeal and gnash your teeth over DDB prioritizing paid official content above Wizards' LSD word-squeezin's. Us Critters are excited for the Explorer's Guide; if y'all can have your M:tG and Rick and Morty and Acq Inc and such, we can have our Wildemount.

The Internet is where everyone goes to complain, and then people complain about what they're complaining about, and complain that they're complaining. You can't expect people to just agree with things that you say on the internet.
Anyways, sure, it's annoying that they haven't added it yet. Also, it is easier to add Explorer's Guide to Wildemount to it, and they are obligated to do that, and don't have to add Class Feature Variants unless it is official.

Then why did you do it?
