I really wish that it was possible for a Thri-Kreen to dual wield two-handed weapons. It would be awesome to be able to attack with two Double-Bladed Scimitars or even just two Greatswords/Greataxes/Mauls (or a Greatsword and a Halberd, or something like that).
As awesome as that would be, I can already hear screams of nerd-rage about power creep from the very suggestion....
So what? It would be cool, and Rule as Cool overrides the Rules of Whiny Nerds 99% of the time.
(Strangely, the people that complain about Tasha's changes to races "making all races be the same" are the same as the ones that scream "POWER CREEP!!!" at the suggestion of adding more oomph to the races.)
Oooh dear not this again...
This reminds me - we still need a whale-pot-plant lineage.

Listen, you're not the one who has to fix the Nerdrageometer every time it breaks, you don't know how expensive that shit gets!
(Seriously though, I'm in absolute agreement. I can't tell you how many times I despair seeing something cool pop up in UA, only for it to be destroyed by people who hate fun...)

I just want you to know, you've inspired my next character, a Reborn whose memories consist entirely of their past lives being murdered by Arthur Dent...

And they are a Warlock with the Undying/fiend Patron, and your Patron is Arthur Dent. Or maybe Artus Hole? Oh no, that’s far too near a swear word…. Shoot, lack of a fantasy name for Arthur Dent! It’s obscured by a S.E.P. field, but that’s not my problem.

Now hold’up there friend. We go back a ways, you have pro’ly read many of the bagillion posts I’ve made, and pages & pages of PMs corespondents between us. Ya? Ya.
You know full well I am most assuredly one of the people complaining about, well, pretty much Tasha’s overall, but particularly the way they changed races. Ya? Ya.
But when the heck have you ever known me complain about “power creep” in general, specifically to do with D&D Races? Ne? Ne.
I have long said that I wished Race imparted more, and more significant things to a PC to further differentiate how they felt in play, even with the same subclasses. (I wish Backgrounds did too, frankly.) Not all members of the same Race/Species/Whatever are/get/have any genetic/cultural predispositions to ASI, etc, and things all have to be either not mentioned or otherwise have overtly deliberate qualifiers put on all things, You should really remember to put qualifiers onto your statements too. After all, not all’a us grognards are atavisticly terrified of a li’l power creep. ‘Kay?

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
also Tri- kreen beast barbarian would be a pretty decent option, both flavour wise (the ones in the monster manual are able to bite, use claws and also leap great distances) and since you can make up to 4 attacks total with a combination of two-weapon fighting, claws and Extra Attack, you get to apply rage damage more often and conveniently get one attack coresponding to each limb. Will be interesting to see what comes up

i personally think that a tri-kreen having to use a combination of two-handed and light weapons in their attack rutine is more intersting and also better aestetically, and that allowing dual weilding two-handed weapons might turn that into the only option people use but eh
to clarify, when you say "add some more oomph" do you mean it as in outright more powerful races like the Yuan-ti or more funky, gameplay-altering races like the all-new ooze boi?

I can see WotC nerfing the autognome to just a small warforged, changing them from construct to humanoid just for the healing spells and to stop the Mending cantrip use on a PC race. But I myself do like them would love to make one an artificer with a penchant for self upgrades.

I agree about the Thri-Kreen, both about the Barbarian being a good fit, and about the restrictions against dual-wielding Two-Handed weapons. Both are ver in keeping with the original feel and flavor of the race. (https://darksun.fandom.com/wiki/Thri-kreen)
I wonder, with Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse reprinting 30+ races if they will also take the opportunity to reprint the Racial Feats from Xanathars and whether they would choose to UA some new ones for several of the non-PHB races

I would love to see racial feats for those races not included before....like Bugbears, Goliaths, Hobgoblins, Goblins, etc....

Very much this. Particularly for my faves, the Eberron races: shifter, kalashtar, changeling, warforged, orc.

With the shift in races towards a standard +2/+1, there are alot of people that feel like part of what makes a race unique has been taken away (although I dont particularly agree with this point of view). More racial feats (or origin feats) could go a long way in making your choice of race or origin feel like it provides unique benefits by opening up even more variance and customizability.
Like, if you want to be the elfiest elf that ever elf-ed, you can focus on taking elven racial feats and effectively double down on having your choice of race impact the character's performance

I think racial feats are a great thing for them to expand upon going forward. Feats are such a popular optional rule because it adds extra customization and personality to how you build a character, so having some options that only work for certain races (or even classes, honestly!) would go a long way in making some races more flavorful. They don't even have to be good or entirely useful (though it would be preferred lol), I just want some stuff that says "Hey your orcish blood runs strong, here's some minor damage boost!" or "hey your genasi heritage allows you to manipulate X element better, here's some cantrips!"

Adding thematic relevance I would guess. More like Triton and Tieflings and less like... well, dwarves.
