Okay. It's been almost a month since the last Survey for Unearthed Arcana was released. Anyone have any guesses as to how soon UA will return, and if it does, what it will contain? I'm guessing that they're not going to do revised versions of the Draconic Subclasses or Draconic Lineages in the UA, and just publish the second and final form that we ever see in whatever official book they come out in (*fingers crossed* please be a Draconomicon, please be a Draconomicon!!!).
So, if I'm right, and we don't get any more Draconic options in the next UA, what will it contain? I know that I want a new Psionic class that doesn't use Spellcasting, not just because a Psion class is long overdue in 5e, but also because that would signal the official return of Dark Sun, like the Artificer Revisited UA that was released just over a couple of years ago signaled the return of Eberron. It's been about two years since they introduced a new class into the system through the UA, which seems like enough time to me to give it another try with a new class. It's also been about a year since they did a UA containing new Psionic Options, which turned out to be intended for TCoE, so that should be enough time for them to do a new system based off of the reformed Psi Dice, right? (Also, due to the fact that Ravenloft's recent release made some major changes to problematic elements of the setting, I could see Dark Sun getting similar treatment. I would love that, and would buy the hell out of that book.)
Any other guesses/far-fetched wishes to be fulfilled in the next UA? We're supposed to get 2 more classic setting books within the next year and a half, and UA subclasses are typically released at least 6 months before the final release of the book (though there are outliers, typically with revised subclass UAs). So, depending on what those two classic settings are and when they're coming out, I can see the next UA (whenever it comes out) containing more subclasses specific to those settings. Any ideas on what the upcoming settings could be, and what subclasses could be coming out based on them? (Like I mentioned above, if they were to transport Dark Sun to 5e, a Psion class UA would signal that, probably not new Psionic Subclass options. If Dark Sun were to contain psionic subclasses for already official classes, they almost definitely would do no UA for them and just reprint the ones from Tasha's.)

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
One 20 page UA exclusively dedicated to The Path of the Dragon Barbarian with DRAGONRAGE. It'll come out this Monday, it will be so feature heavy and over the top it will take D&D Beyond the entire summer to code. In the mean time it will spawn at least three threads over 10,000 posts each venting about implementation on DDB; the subclass's shear obvious table flipping OP standing in the present game; whether it means Dragonlance, a Draconomicon, or Daurgothoth's Draconic Ditherings is close in the WotC pipeline; and the fact that DRAGONRAGE is just cool.
It's gonna be epic. And then it gets taken off D&D Beyond a week later.

I don't care for the would be Psionic Sorcerer Subclass, but I like the Soul Knife and Psi Warrior well enough. I would like so see more Psionics, if not a full class (which I would love), I would like a couple more Subclasses/Feats.

fun to imagine what that might look like even if the belief that it will actiually happen is a bit delusional
another delusional fantasy i entertain: i want a version of Natural Explorer for the ranger that makes you better at exploration in the same ways the OG does (more foraging, etc) but without the terrain dependency of natural explorer. Do not care much if it is the same as Deft explorer in most features, but i just want a middle ground between the two for that specific niche. Perhaps even an entire supplement dedicated to figuring out ways of making the exploration pillar of the game and the travel sections more fun for everyone

I would like to see a weapon UA, even if its small. Something like reprints/reimagining of weapons that have appeared in other adventures (like the Double-Bladed Scimitar) plus a collection of new simple and martial weapons with the Special property. Perhaps a few magic weapons too to spice the whole thing up. Maybe even some new crafting rules for weapons along with new treatment processes similar to silvering. The possibilities are there.
I don't feel like much needs to be done to expand on weapons in 5e, but I feel like a handful of new weapons with unique Special characteristics could go a long way in making characters and builds more interesting.

Purely speculation; but there have been murmurings of additional Drow sub races (or Lineages).
It might be a part of this “Summer of Drizzt” thing they’ve got going on.
...which just makes me think of the “Summer of George” joke from Seinfeld.
But...taken with a grain of salt...this could potentially be insinuated as an “Underdark” themed book. Maybe.
...probably not. ; )
Completely unrelated: if my hopes for a “Planescape” book comes to pass; I would LOVE some new Lineages based around re-working Aasimar or Genasi...an interesting, but effective, way to implement the idea that other common races...elves, dwarves, halfling...can be plane-touched.
I know it’s heavily implied with the current iterations; but something new that spells it out would be welcome.
An opportunity to “fix” the clunkiness of some of the Genasi features...and perhaps give a bit more description as to what an aasimar should look like.
Yeah, I read some press on three Drow sub races or at least factions/lineages being alluded to in the Summer of Drizzt hype supposedly on WotC's website. I haven't had time to look at what's actually on the Website (it's a lot of multi media), but Drow Subraces I guess could be in the running though its a little late to play test stuff that's supposed to appear during the Summer of Drizzt.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
On an unrelated note... I hate Drizzt. The decades of crappy Drizzt clones that unimaginative players have created and played in campaigns that I have been involved in over the years have left me bitter when it comes to that character.

As someone who came fresh into 5th Edition and needed a bit of context with the lore, the Drizzt novels were pretty great for me.
The first six or so, chronologically, at least.
I sort of like Artemis Entreri & Jarlaxle a bit more as characters, though.
It’s like Batman syndrome...Drizzt has some great villains.
I think maybe a UA on a module for playing Evil characters in an iteration of "Die! Vecna! Die!" but instead "Die! Drizzt! Die!" could be cathartic for a lot of DMs from Drizzt's publishing heyday. Part of the quest is a raid into the coastal vaults of some Wizards who have a contract making Drizzt an enduring, almost signature symbol, of the Forgotten Realms, and you'll have to fight Tooth and Nail against R.A. Salvatore with UA grappling rules (I read somewhere Salvatore was once a competitive wrestler in college or a coach or something). Maybe Hasbro gets the TTRPG rights to Star Wars back so in some synergy sizzle, Han Solo joins up with the group for payback on the Salvatore raid, or maybe Chewbacca avoided his death but wants in on the payback too.

I remember reading them when they came out and liked them, the 2nd edition Complete Elf book came out and stopped reading them due to A LOT of Drow at our tables.
I was thinking of reading them myself. Do you think they're still worth reading? I'm worried I'll read it and immediately start hating a large portion of drow players because of obvious parallels. I even played with one dude a while back who named himself "Drazzit" and got upset when nobody immediately recognized that it was a reference to the famous ranger.

I have played with a "Dirzt", a "Drixxt" and a "Drizzet". Drizzet was a gender bent version so I found the name to be even more ridiculous than I normally would.
I have also had the misfortune of playing with a DM that couldn't run a campaign in Forgotten Realms that DIDN'T have a long running guest appearance of Drizzt that we would play sidekick to/watch do everything so that the DM could play out his Fanfiction at the table.
While this conversation is being had, I'd like to introduce my newest character, Drezzt. He's a Drow Ranger, kind of a loner, dual wields and has an animal companion, what sets him apart is that he wears green sneakers. Original character, do not steal.

You two are so derivative it's not even funny. In a brainstorm I came up with a Drow Ranger who wears red sneakers, so in the rare moment they're fighting in daylight you can't see their feet due to all the blood spilled by their dual wielded custom curved katanas. They carry a piece of origami which can transform into a Obsidian furred Polar Bear companion. To make sure no one thinks I'm trying to rip anyone off, I named them Brizzt. I used to roll to see if they remained hidden from the rest of the party I DM but the stealth is so high I just have them basically invisibly lurking ready to emerge with the polar bear to save the PCs from whatever pickle they got into after the first round of combat.

Start with “The Dark Elf” trilogy...it is chronologically the beginning of Drizzt’s story; and are gripping tales.
I found them fascinating & compelling...at his core, Drizzt is a character who was born naturally benevolent & honorable...in a society that was thoroughly selfish & ruthless. Downright evil.
Drizzt’s relationship with his father...himself a tragic character at a Shakespearean level...is a huge reason why I loved the first book.
The story of when he decided to take his chances on the surface...it’s good. It’s really, really good. In that sad, bittersweet sort of way.
Everyone likes to poke fun at Drizzt...the misunderstood drow with a heart of gold...
