I created a variant human wizard with the artificer initiate feat, it seems real nice having a Wizard with the spell Cure Wounds without doing a multi-class with some other class with a different casting stat.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
With the feedback I gave we gonna get all of these and more as I told them we need more like these and more racial feats for every race a player can be.
I especially hope that no one votes down the Gunner feat due to them not allowing firearms in their games.
I didn't downvote the gunner but I did say in the survey that we should get ranged feats that can be applied to all ranged weapons. Makes the feats far more versatile and usable in more campaigns. Weapons specific feats are just too narrow to see wide use.

I made more a general statement that gunpowder weapons are not properly balanced themselves, so monkeying around with Feats based on them probably would be better paired with a definitive rebalancing of gunpowder weapons.

But it does have a wider range then you are thinking as it has the +1 DEX and the real biggie Ranged attack are no longer at disadvantage due to an enemy being next to you almost identical to the crossbow expert feat where the change is +1 DEX instead of the bonus action attack.

What isn't balanced about them the high damage, the horrid range or the exorbitant price? Those do balance them, making the weapons good but not game breaking as not everyone will want one for there character.
Other than there being absolutely zero reason to use a DMG blackpowder weapon over a regular-ass heavy crossbow, you mean? Like, none. Nill. Negatory. Even with Gunner serving as an Official Accepted Version of Crossbow Expert, there is no reason whatsoever to make use of DMG powder weapons. A basic heavy crossbow is superior in every conceivable way. Which makes it kinda weird when you want to play an inventor with exotic weaponry or a soldier fielding his kingdom's latest innovations.

This why have had no reason to ban firearms from games I run. They are far from OP and are generally only used by players with specific character concepts (such as Gun Mage and Gunslinger). We have already been allowing Crossbow expert with firearms so Gunner would be a nice addition at our table.

*cough cough gnomes, kobolds and other Small races who aren't allowed to use either heavy crossbows or longbows and who have no way to get around that heavy weapon property cough*
Also, Pistols are one handed. Muskets do a higher damage dice.
The Modern firearms (which are confirmed to exist in the Forgotten Realms, or at least one of them) are far superior to most crossbows, in terms of damage dice and reload.

The Modern Firearms, like the Futuristic Firearms, are not really meant to be part of "regular" every day campaigns. Some people like to run games that incorporate fantasy and the modern world and these entries are there for them. However, these weapons are great as a one off discovery or even as Rare "magic" items.
Only Pistols and Muskets are meant to be your common place, but expensive, option.

Out of curiosity, which one is that?

There's a revolver in Undermountain, possessed by Halaster Blackcloak. There's only one, but the prequel to Dungeon of the Mad Mage is Dragon Heist, which has Drow Gunslingers in it. I'm sure if the gnomes and artificers of Lantan, or the priests of Gond in Waterdeep were able to get their hands on the revolver, they could replicate it.

Won't they still be using the less powerful smokepowder?

A fool pulls the leaves. A brute chops the trunk. A sage digs the roots.
In Gary Gygax’s original game, there was also a crashed alien spaceship with a raygun of some type if I recall. (Probably where they got the idea for Fallout 3.) So there is precedent for that as well.

Me too.
Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
I hope that there is enough positive feedback that we see some version of these (an others) in the next book.
