An encounter/combat tracker that can be easily built from the published adventures, or custom from the ground up.
some kind of wiki for world building. Actually, I'd like the option of a nested folder structure or a wiki, or both for different circumstances. Current public notes are good for recaps but pretty basic.
Ability to add notes pinned to specific places in published adventures.
The above integrated into the app as well, of course.
I think everything else I want they've already announced.

I'd very much like to see Barbarulo's world building wiki idea implemented. Right now I'm using Obsidian Portal to take notes on my campaigns, but it's terrible, frankly. I'd much rather use DDB to organize my campaign. I know it's probably a big project to develop, but honestly I'd be happy just to have a minimally functional campaign management system that's not buggy as hell...
One thing that would be SUPER Helpful is of tweaking on the printable character sheets that can be exported. Specifically, the class, race and background features having a short explanation. For Instance, for halflings, instead of just saying, "Lucky" have "Lucky -- Reroll natural 1s on d20 rolls." With that, maybe come saved customization options about what info you want spelled out on the printable sheet and what you don't that can be saved to the character.
So this may be a bit far-fetched, but hear me out.
I know that DDB has no plans of being a VTT. That being said, I do feel like a simple digital map-making tool would be a great addition to this service.
The best part, it could just use the tile designs from the cardboard tile sets that were recently released by WotC (maybe even from older sets too, as a grid is a grid, and MAYBE even designs from the board game tiles too, but I'll understand if that's asking a bit much). Not only could it serve as a way to make digital maps, but it could also help users who purchased the physical tiles plan out arrangements, as I can tell you from experience, that can be a bit of a pain. I know there is a web-based app for the 3.5 tiles that's still active (albeit kind of hidden) on the WotC site, but it's a bit outdated and not representative of the current tile selection.
Something like that, only more streamlined and current would be fantastic!
If I want to search for a specific rule it's silly even on a compendium search how many modules will jump in the way of the information I want.
I bought books on here so I could search more efficiently from the books then thumbing through pages.
However, if I want to show the optional flanking rules from the DMG to my players I can't just search DMG for flank. and I get Curse of Stradd, and then I get Prince of the Apocolypse and all kinds of other garbage I wasn't looking for.
Hi Chiatroll, your feedback is of high interest and I would love to help by learning more about your experience. Thank you for sharing it!
Search is essential in the D&D Beyond experience, so documenting ways in which we can improve it in the future are of high value. If you have the time, could you share with me additional specific D&D rules you've searched for in the past, where you were unable to quickly get to your goal? Can you walk me through how you would foresee a book specific search to function from the global search bar? ...from the advanced search? Could you share with us if there other ways in which Search can benefit you better or times it has been challenging? Please, feel free to direct message me your feedback if preferred.
I hope to discover better techniques to approach rule related searches and search suggestions in the future to be more efficient for all users.
Hey! I definitely agree with the OP on this. I feel like, as a general rule, that Rules should show up first, especially before segments from adventures. Or better yet: A dropdown by the search to let us pick like... "Rules", "Character Options", "Monsters", "Adventure Content" etc? During my Sunday session we needed to remind ourselves of the rules regarding Shove, but it was around 10th down the page, after a lot of adventure stuff and feats that just made the search really frustrating.
Yeah; maybe have it prioritize results from rules books over results from adventures within compendium results (if you're feeling really fancy, have it do that unless the search term was capitalized).

More Adventure League friendly. Add in filter in the beginning of character creation showing PHB + 1 other sourcebook. All further creation would have those two books used for class options and spells. As a DM, I currently have to check the characters in my campaign to make sure they didn't select a wrong spell since there is no way they would know what book the spell was from.
- as stated many times before, a combat/initiative tracker. - encounter builder that allows you to choose monsters (homebrew or official) and add them to one centralized reference page, calculates total xp, challange rating, etc ... and upon slaying monsters, the xp is automatically divided among the players. - dice roller built into 'Attacks' section of character page. - group loot that all players in the campaign can see/access. - ability to have homebrew items influence stats, or at least have a manual override system in place to adjust for homebrew. - NPC creator/library
As a DM, I would love the ability to export all my characters' sheets as a single sheet for my screen. HP, stats, death saves, other things that I'd want to know to make decisions in battle to keep the tension going. Part of me wants to write a tool to do it, but I'd rather not put in the time if there's an alternative.
How about adding a small search bar beside the name of the compendium after I have chosen it from the drop down menu. If I go to compendiums and choose DMG there should be a search bar on the DMG page.
I only recently became aware of this fact, but innate spellcasting doesn't include the DC with the spell (which is important for spells like Hellish Rebuke for default tieflings and Vicious Mockery for Devil's Tongue variant tieflings). I would find it much easier to manage the spells if the character sheet automatically calculated 8 + Charisma modifier + proficiency bonus and listed it with the spell.

I'm not listing here anything that was only requested once, to keep things manageable. Also note that I've collated similar requests together (because otherwise the list would be insane) and that I may have misunderstood exactly what you're asking for.
I've lumped anything that talked about changes to the character sheet as a catch-all 'improved character sheet' because until we see the results of the work done on the character sheet it's probably pointless to drill down into that category.
Virtual tabletop functionality / digital DM screen (13 requests)
I'm surprised that one is a big request since it's such a massive undertaking and it would have to compete with stable long running VTTs if they didn't just do it by letting beyond export to fantasy grounds and roll20 but built there own it would be a lot of company resources and time.

Adding to another productive half hour, I think that D&D Beyond is planning on handling these very differently and it maybe useful to see the split between the two.

Indeed they are.
Homebrew subclasses are planned to be delivered (they're on the "soon" list).
Homebrew classes are NOT planned, however some additional classes, like Bloodhunter, may be added by the dev team.
Virtual tabletop functionality / digital DM screen (13 requests)
That is two VERY different things.
A digital DM screen can be defined all sorts of ways, including setting up a custom page with whatever rules you want on it, bookmarks to certain creatures, rules etc. Imagine that your players are venturing into a cave system, so you make sure to shortcut the rules for climbing, jumping and, of course, falling onto your DM screen. Would be cool, right? It's very different to a VTT.
Having used this site a few times now recently for games a few things have come to mind.
1. At character creation, an ability to flag a character as Adventure League which would limit the character the PHB and one other source as defined by official AL documents.
2. The ability to sort characters created by level, campaign, class, or name.
3. The ability for players to view each other's character sheets (this can help in cases of technical difficulties or rare absences of a character that is needed).

I thought that if you are in a campaign you could see each others, but at the same time I wouldn't want other people to see my character sheet. especially if you are a rogue or have the need to be sneaky or have an item you don't want everyone to know you have.
