My hot take is that sunlight sensitivity for kobolds and drow is awesome, because I like detriments to classes and races.
To be honest, negatives only interest me if they are done well and used to allow more interesting positives. For Kobolds it was done well - For Drow, it was not.

Dragonborn have tails and scale-colours - I know the "RAW" material says neither of these; but every other "beast-folk" species does, their design looks unbalanced without it, and let's all face it: having picking a scale colour and getting something cool with it is half the fun of making a dragonborn.
Warforged are constructs - If they don't need to eat or drink, and don't have blood: how in the nine hells do health potions work on them? Surly they'd need to be "repaired" not "healed"?
Centaurs can't climb ladders - Just... look at them! How is it mechanically possible!? Their body is L-shaped!
I think player races with unlimited flight can be disruptive to adventures in Tier 1 of play, especially if running a prewritten module which did not have flying PCs in mind. An experienced DM might be able to modify around this, but even then it is an annoyance to have to rethink your dungeon layout or NPCs based around a single racial feature.

I still stubbornly believe that variant human is better than elf.
Variant human is better than a lot of things. Most races have at least one thing that you don't need for your build concept. Variant human says, "what if you lost all that frivolous nonsense, and in exchange we gave you a level 4 feature at level 1?"
Flying races aren’t overpowered and honestly there are cooler racial traits then flight.
Genasi as genie-lites are very boring, I preferred when they were literally made of their elements and more like mini elementals.
I prefer my Kobolds as Draconic folk then their original interpretation.
If they can make Minotaurs and Centaurs into player races, then I see no reason why they can’t make Gnolls or Driders as a player race. I want more monstrous player races.

My hot take I prefered the more canine non-draconic kobolds.
What are some of hot takes yall have?

(I also think drow should be extremely pale because they've been underground so long but potayto potahto)

Weirdly I always used to think that they were rat people. I think because of WoW.
edit: huh my profile avatar seems to have broken. :/
Pure core strength. Think about it, have you ever seen a centaur without abs? I heard they can hold a plank for like 8 minutes.
Well, the MotM image looks like a teenager.
Also, because they have a faster walking speed, centaurs with the athlete feat can climb ropes faster than humans with the athlete feat.
I have a weird sense of humor.
I also make maps.(That's a link)
There are creams and powders to treat that at your local pharmacy...
Aquatic elves are stupid.
Unpopular opinion on planetouched: Genasi, aasimar, and tieflings should not be player races.
Instead they should be a series of feats which any race can get.
I agree with this, and I'd do the same with half-orcs and half-elves.
I agree with this but I think that they should be treated as lineages (like the gothic ones from VRGtR) instead of feats.

For anyone who did not previously own Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, Volo's, or both MotM is a fine new book.
They were canine-like/rat-like back in 2e as far as I remember.

BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!

Kenku not being able to talk normally was the best/most fun part of the race and now they're just flightless aarakocra.
