I am sure there are a lot of people that like the idea and a lot that don't. This is not even remotely interesting to me, but for those that want it, congratulations. I was really hoping for another book like Xanathar's so it is even more of a disappointment than I think it would normally be.
I'd be more upset if I thought that game designers spent time working on this that could be used for something else. Anything else.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

That’s how I feel about DDB’s Digital Dice. Oh, wait....

That's something else I'd prefer to not get started on. We can't have a PHB+1 switch for ADL players (not even me) but we get digital dice? My eyes can auto-roll too.

So, Rime of the Frostmaiden was announced. I'm excited. It looks cool. The giant glacier seems like it has a connection with that one god Annam killed, creating the giant glaciers in Northern Faerun.

Oh, I'm 100% sure that we're getting one now. With the statement about giving alternate ability scores to races in a book later this year, I am certain this is the "Xanathar's 2.0" book that I'm waiting for.
Mark my words, it will be announced fairly soon. (Probably by the time this event is over, if not then, within a few months.)
This, the Class Variation optional rules currently in UA, and hopefully a hefty section giving better details on the Planes, perhaps another cosmological model for how they interrelate. Unless they are already slotted into other future content, perhaps some of the other UA subclasses will come too. Really hoping the Magical Tattoos come in as well.

I'm so excited. I think it'll be released sometime around November, like E:RftLW, which means it'll be announced mid-August or so. I can't wait!

It looks like a great adventure with great themes and great art. Can't wait!

I dunno, if they do the same thing that they did for the waterdeep books, we might possibly see a second adventure module set in Icewind Dale (which would make some thematic sense to release further in winter). As for a possible Xanthar's 2.0, I did expect that to come out this year, but that was before the pandemic hit so it wouldn't surprise me if it got pushed back to next year...
EDIT: Yeah, looking at the release schedule for the past few books, I'd say December would probably be the time to expect another to be released after Rime of the Frostmaiden.
I disagree. This 90% probably doesn't impact the release dates of the books, like the Essentials Kit and Stranger Things Box Set. This will be in addition to the release schedule, not in place of it.
I think Xanathar's 2.0 is still coming this year. They announced that they'll be releasing a 4th D&D book this year with player options, this is definitely not that.

If they were to announce a sequel to this one book, they'd announce it at the same time as this book. That's what they did with the Waterdeep books.

This is possible, but they could just delay the physical copy of it, and have the digital version released earlier just so they can sell that around Christmastime. It all depends on the pandemic.

No, it would be in November, like Eberron: Rising from the Last War, or Dungeon of the Mad Mage, or all the other books that they've released in November. The release schedule normally has one book in March, another in May-June, another in September, and a final one in November.

I highly doubt that a cookbook will replace Xanathar's 2.0. Don't worry, this is not going to interfere with anything.
This. The people who do a recipe book are not the same ones going to be developing game content. Two completely different skill sets are required.

...Unless they decided to make a book with character options *and* recipes... 🤔

I feel like that would be included in the announcement of this book this week. I think this is a cookbook, with some D&D flair to it. If it has any real D&D rules in it essential to gameplay, I'll be surprised.

I really hope that this is not the second book we were supposed to get soon.

Does that mean no Xanathars 2.0 or Planescape?
