Yes, Blackmore was before Greyhawk. Then Greyhawk was official until Gary made it “the official setting for AD&D” so they needed a new “official setting” for OD&D (because both the games were supported side by side for decades) so they went with Mystara, and retconned Blackmore into the history.
Sorry if I’m interrupting, but this is where we discuss this stuff, correct?
If so, can someone tell me why it says Archived on all the Psionics stuff, and not UA?
Nono, we had digressed. The Psionic stuff from the UA that had the psionic Fighter, Rogue, and Wizard has been dropped, as well as the old Aberrant Mind Sorcerer, and possibly the Warlock too, I have no idea. WotC has announced that those have gone in the wastebasket and insisted that DDB “Archive” them. That’s their right as publishers, to insist that a retailer stop promoting a particular product. The new UA that came out recently has replaced all of that. You can find it here:
You can still get copies of the old UAs from WotC though, and “homebrew” them for your own use. And if you already have that character going, you can still use it on DDB, nobody is taking that away from you. I have a player in the campaign I DM using that old Wizard, and everything will still work.
man i am late to this convo, i only found out about the UA like yesterday.
Anyways two things that struck me specifically about the sorcerer: an variant human psion sorcerer can cast detect thoughts, an second level spell, at 1st level four times per long rest if i really want to and something about that does not exactly feel right
psionic discovery can be used rather often, and significantly increases the versatilllity of the class as a whole, suddenly i can rival the wizard, since i can prepare new spells in matters of minutes instead of whenever there is time for a long rest
i heard some youtuber say that it would be interesting to see the psi dice and sorcery points interact more, and it think that i an good idea by perhaps letting you reduce the dice to gain more points or spend points to increase the size of your dice or letting you perhaps roll the dice and regain a number of sorcery points equal to the number rolled once per short rest
having an feat or an psi knight feature that lets you use batlle master manuvers with your psi dice (i would prefer the feat) that could be very interesting, but of course manuvers are not designed for spam so you might have some limiting factor like "once you use a manuver in this manner, you cannot do so again until at least one minute has passed" that would be really cool.
Another feat that could work well is a feat that lets you roll your psi dice twice and use the roll you prefer, but that might be easily abused
mind sliver is still really good

Hmm, a Variant Human Battle Master with Wild Talent and Metabolic Control would be fairly nasty. Have them psi-boost Dex, which adds to Initiative and can boost the damage of finesse or ranged weapons. Once per long rest they can meditate and restore all uses of Action Surge, Second Wind, and all their Maneuvers.

you cannot "psi boost dex" or any abillity score for that matter, you can only add the psi dice roll to one attack roll, abillity check or damage roll
but yeah quick short rest is terrifying

i fully agree to this there are so many references to the gith in this UA please you will not give us mystic but can we at least salvage some of the mystic disiplinces and give them to the monk as an option that would be fun

I want mystics. Yes, they were complicated. Yes, they were overpowered. But, when the going gets tough, you don't abandon it!
I want mystics. I want mystics! I WANT MYSTICS!
Why can't psionic subclasses and a psionic class live together in peace? Why can't they share the great land that is psionics? Why must it be a competition over the same territory?
The existence of one doesn't make the existence of the other unnecessary.
Please, Wizards, change your minds. I don't like this. I really don't like this. Some of the new abilities are strange/cool, but this isn't worth killing the Mystic.
I hate this. I mean, I like the subclasses, and some of the new abilities are cool, but they killed 3 things that I desperately want back:
The Mystic
Psionics Wizard
My happiness (jk, I mean Aberrant Mind Sorcerers)
okay so it is not like the mystic is unsalvagable here, if you completely remove 1st level order benefits (in other words mystics get a single discipline and a single talent, that is it), you remove mystic restoration from second level, and the feature at 4th level that let you change saves and just made it so that mystics choose their order at level 3, you would go a long way in having a reasonable mystic. Perhaps also like fix the avatar, immortal and sould knife becuase they are perhaps just a little strong, psionic restoration is not needed on the disiplince list, and you know what the focus should also be unlocked at 2nd level. There that is an perfectly reasonable, perhaps a little underpowered class. From here we can even import the psion dice as an feature at 1st level, and make the benefits of the dice entirely reliant on what order you choose since first level is a little barren compared to other classes.
Mystic was OP for shure, but it should defenetly see another iteration before it is scrapped forever, 5e still has too few uses for intelegence, even when every new fighter subclass that is even remotely magical uses intelegence, and hey while we are at it we can make an fighter archetype all about battle tactics just like the battle master but one who benefits more from an high intelegence score

Under the wild talent feat
Psi-Boosted Ability. When you make an ability check with the ability increased by this feat, you can roll your Psionic Talent die and add the number rolled to the check. You can choose to do so before or after rolling the d20, but before you know whether the check succeeded or failed. Psi-
Guided Strike. Once on each of your turns when you hit with an attack roll that uses the ability increased by this feat, you can roll your Psionic Talent die after you make the damage roll and then replace one of the damage dice with the number rolled on the Psionic Talent die.

Uhh .. did you read the text of the Wild Talent feat? HeroZero pointed it out, but you basically have to pick one Ability score to increase with the feat and the second part, which is literally called "Psi-Boosted Ability", let's you add the psi-die to an ability check or damage roll with that ability only. I was just pointing out that if you pick Dexterity, this benefits Initiative checks and ranged damage rolls.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
I think that Planescape is coming this year as Xanathar's 2.0, but Dark Sun is probably coming fairly soon after that, IMHO.
These Psionic UA won't make their way into Xanathar's 2.0, but they will be in a Dark Sun source book.
That’s my bet. Well, these subclasses might be slated for something else like X2 as a test run before they do a full blown version for DS.
They did a similar thing with the Revised Artificer. They tested it just under a year before it became official. If they're testing psionics now, I'd put the Dark Sun book at about 9-15 months away.
But they started testing Psionics last year with the Aberrant Mind Sorcerer, and all the other Psionic subclasses which might make Dark Sun sooner then we all think if a Dark Sun book gets released in say November how long has that been since the Aberrant Mind oh like at least 14 months?
It isn't unsalvagable, but WotC disagrees with that. It was OP, over complicated, and a mess, but they could've/should've revised it once more.
No amount of revision is going to fix it because what killed it wasn't complexity or balance issues, it's the fact that it had no focus or theme - it just did the same things other classes did but with psionics. Fixing that requires starting over from scratch.
