Either way, I noticed Stormknight seems to have left DDB. This is the second time a staff member who was very active on the forums seems to have left (MellieDM was the last one) without any sort of announcement or anything. Is WotC having a restructuring?
Seriously, what is going on with DDB. The lack of communication and the changes that are made unannounced are making me nervous.

Leaving OGL 1.0(a) untouched and making SRD 5.1 CC-BY-4.0 is a great first step. The next is a promise to do the same for future editions. Here's a discussion thread on that.

This. I've been so excited at the prospect of the Dnd Merger since Wizards took over DnDbeyond. Since the merger however, I've noticed communication from the Devs has seemingly vanished; the last Dev Update was 6 months ago as of this post.
When staff members just vanish without so much as a goodbye message, it doesn't leave me optimistic for how the site will be manged for the future 🙁 There are days where it honestly feels like Davyd and the other mods are the only things keeping the site going (obviously not true, but the lack of communication with the community does not inspire confidence).

Yeah, I notice that earlier this past week myself. She suddenly went from red to not without any sort of announcement or anything. Probably under a gag order from WotC or something. Big mistake letter her get away if you ask me. She was one of the linchpins around here, at least as far as the community was concerned.
What?!? Did Elon Musk purchase DDB or something? That’s the only way I can see them letting her go. What a tragedy. She was the one staffer that posted in such a way that I felt the site was connected to its users. Whenever she posted it was required reading for me. A dark day indeed. I hope she continues to be part of the community.
Adding to the voices of those who are becoming curiouser and curiouser, Stormknight often provided the answer I was looking for when browsing the DND Beyond forums for general troubleshooting and advice. I can only wish other forums had people like that. Whatever's happening, I wish them the very best.

Zero is the most important number in D&D: Session Zero sets the boundaries and the tone; Rule Zero dictates the Dungeon Master (DM) is the final arbiter; and Zero D&D is better than Bad D&D.

I sent an e-mail to their contact us form last week that was confirmed to be passed on to the team, but I don't actually expect anything to change unless all of us user start demanding it.
They told us nothing would change with the acquisition. It's clear to me that this was untrue.

Welp, seems like Stormknight isn't the only founder that left/was kicked out. BadEye and Andrew Searles (Ammja, product manager) Also both have black names and no more forum posts since May.
Do you want us to gossip and rumor, WotC? Because this is what will make us gossip and rumor.

Ultimately, it's up to each individual to announce their departure if they wish to do so. No one can give you any details beyond what they choose to share.
Mellie and BadEye both announced their departures as well as the reasons for leaving. Mellie is the Director of Community and Content at DemiplaneRPG. BadEye is the CDO at DemiplaneRPG and left long before the merger happened.

I wasn't aware of these announcements. I went looking for them, but I couldn't find them.
Either way, two founders leaving without any sort of announcement at all, especially someone as active as StormKnight, just seems weird to me. It's one of the many ways in which DDB/WotC seems to refuse to communicate since the merger and I'm starting to get fed up with it. I've reached out in about 5 different ways, from support tickets to social media and I get nothing back accept "we'll pass along the feedback". One of the reasons I liked DDB so much is because of how open they were about development and features. This openness vanished literally overnight. Combined with the departure of at least two founders makes me extremely worried about DDB's future and nothing I do or ask, no thread, nothing since past May is doing anything to relieve that worry. I'm a subscriber partially because of all the things I used to like about DDB. The past 8 months I've gotten very little back for that.

I'm just getting sick of it all.
Of the people listed, only one (Adam Bradford) was a founder. Stormknight and MellieDM were both community members who became moderators and then staff.
And as Sillvva stated, it was at the discretion of each person if and how they would announce their departure and D&D Beyond would not override that.
Ah, yes, that's a title given to DDB alumni so to speak. She was very much part of the community from the very beginning. I assumed founder was being used to mean "founded the company". Apologies for any confusion
Thank you for some very kind words folks - they're appreciated and I am glad I was able to make a difference.
As for roles, the DDB Alumni role was offered to all DDB staff (some chose not to accept) as recognition for their part in building D&D Beyond. I believe it still is.
The D&D Beyond Founders role was something that Hartlessd20 implemented in 2022, to recognise those members of the D&D Beyond team who were there from the original site launch and had a huge impact on the success of the site over the years. Something more than just Alumni. The people in this group are just four of us: BadEye, Hartlessd20, Stormknight, and DiceyDM.
As for me, my story with Wizards of the Coast ended when I was laid off - there isn't anything else to say publicly on that.
I will always be incredibly proud of what we achieved with D&D Beyond, while maintaining a commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and delivering value to the community.
edit: None of those four mentioned above work for DDB/Wizards any longer. From what I know, only one left by choice.
